The Cultural Club had planned a weekend outing to the nearby botanical garden. Aiko arrived early, carrying her sketchbook, excited to capture the colors and scents of spring.
Ren was already waiting by the entrance, casually leaning against a tree. He smiled when he saw her. "Ready for today?"
Aiko nodded enthusiastically. "I've been looking forward to it all week!"
They wandered through rows of blooming flowers, occasionally stopping so Aiko could sketch a particularly beautiful scene. Ren watched her, quietly impressed by her focus and gentle movements.
"You're really good at this," he said softly, leaning over to look at her sketch.
Aiko's cheeks warmed. "Thanks… I just like capturing little things."
As they walked along a winding path, Aiko noticed a small fountain. She ran ahead, excited, but slipped slightly on the wet stone edge. Ren was instantly at her side, steadying her with a firm hand.
"You okay?" he asked, eyes concerned.
Aiko nodded, smiling nervously. "Yeah… thanks to you."
Ren grinned. "I've got you."
Later, they stopped at a quiet bench to rest. Aiko offered Ren a small snack she had brought, and they shared it, laughing when a crumb accidentally fell onto Ren's hand. He leaned closer so she could brush it off, and their fingers touched.
Aiko felt her heart flutter. "You… always notice the little things, don't you?"
Ren's gaze softened. "Yeah… especially when it's you."
The day continued with gentle teasing, shared discoveries, and quiet moments of closeness. Aiko couldn't help but notice how much she enjoyed just being with him, laughing, talking, and sharing small joys.
By the time the sun began to set, painting the sky in soft pinks and oranges, Aiko realized she didn't want the day to end. Walking home together, their hands brushed again, and this time, they lingered just a little longer, naturally, comfortably.
