Dawn filtered through the cracks in the temple roof, laying stripes of gold across the narrow bed. Kael Dorian turned beneath a threadbare blanket, expecting another ordinary morning. Instead, a sharp agonizing pain tore through his skull and spirit.
Memories foreign yet familiar flash through his mind as images of a different life from that which didn't belong to this world, but one that he lived before that fateful accident of his returning from school one evening, when he was walking down the side road, and a crazy truck came out of nowhere, hitting him. He died, and then there was darkness.
He pressed trembling hands to his temples."Wh-what is this…? So I was reborn, shit, never thought those novels I used to read were all true if dammit that fucking truck-kun could have been a lot gentler ugh" he still held his head as the tidal wave of memiores was still coming through.
I was Kael, an ordinary high school student from Blue Star; now I'm Kael of Aetherion. At least I was able to keep my past name, so I don't have to deal with the confusion that would have been a headache.
Then the pain vanished from all the memories flooding into his head. A low hum filled the air, as if the world itself had taken a breath. Light pooled above him as a cool and refreshing feeling spread through his body, making him close his eyes in bliss. When the light and comfort disappeared, he opened his eyes to a digital screen interface appearing in front of him.
"No way do I actually get a cheat," he says, looking at every word on the interface in front of him.

Staring at the hovering translucent screen, every letter of his heartbeat was beating fast with excitement. He whispered, "Status." The screen rearranged itself.

He stares at the interface. "Hmm, interesting, this system awakened me to a healer class. I quite honestly wasn't expecting to be a healer, but hey, I won't get mad at what was given to me." Looking over the panel, he looks at the level, and he wasn't surprised to be level 1 since he had just awakened. He moved on to healing points. "Healing points are at 0. How do I get these points anyway?" Just as he said, the panel changed, answering his question.
───────────────────────────────
To answer the user to earn Healing points, also known as (HPts), in
Healing others restores their health and grants the user Healing Points (HPts).
The HPts Scaling is that the more severe the injury or illness, the more points you gain.
Then you can use HPts to exchange for:
Skills (offensive, defensive, utility)
Items (potions, scrolls, weapons, relics, and many other items)
Attributes (STR, AGI, INT, etc.)
Skill Upgrades
───────────────────────────────
After reading through what the system told him, he now understands the points and how to get them. "Oh, this is so interesting. The more I heal others, the more I can gain these points, which is amazing. Oh, I can't wait to try this out. I basically get stronger from others' pain, not bad, at least I don't have to work that hard to get stronger, so I won't die in this world."He looks down at the skills and reads their descriptions.
───────────────────────────────
[Basic Heal]: Restores minor wounds or pain.
[Diagnosis]: Instinctively understands the severity of a wound or illness.
───────────────────────────────
"Pretty good and basic, but whatever, moving on." He looks down and notices the Newbie Package. As he looks at it, a panel shows up.
───────────────────────────────

His hand moved before he could think. "Yes."

He summoned the staff, feeling the hum of energy within it, and smiled faintly.
A new life… a new chance. I won't waste it this time.
Kael sat on his bed, thought Status, the display expanded again, sharper and more precise than before.

He blinked at the figures, comparing them line by line." Below average in strength and endurance… that tracks," he muttered. He had always been the most petite boy in the orphanage, the one who caught colds every winter. But his Intelligence and Wisdom—those were above the norm. Eh, whatever, I'll improve on my other stats later to keep me well-rounded, he thought. Fornow I should need to heal my cash cows oops, I mean my patients.
Curious, he focused on the glowing Shop tab. The screen shifted.

Kael whistled softly."So I can spend points to get stronger… or save them for better spells."He scrolled through the glowing lists like a child discovering a new toy, half in awe, half in disbelief, especially when he found some skills he was not expecting. I thought this was an ordinary healing system, but it was not at all when he was looking at some really lewd skills in the shop.
The system's voice, faint and genderless, drifted through his mind:
Healing Points are gained by mending others. The greater the pain, the greater the reward. That also means sometimes feeling their sexual desires too.
Kael looked down at his hands—the same calloused, scar-lined fingers that had scrubbed temple floors for years. Healing others to grow stronger…It wasn't a warrior's path, but it was one he could believe in.
He closed the panel, and a smirk curled on his lips. "Hahah, this might be even more fun than I thought. "Outside, sunlight pooled through the doorway, gilding the dust in the air.
Kael stood up from the bed and headed to the door. Eighteen years behind him. A second life ahead. And for the first time since waking, he smiled.
He looked toward the worn door leading to the courtyard. The morning bell had rung minutes ago; the temple would already be busy. He needed to act normally; people here were used to awakenings. Adventurers and priests alike sometimes discovered their callings in flashes of mana and light.
What he couldn't reveal were the voices, the system, or the memory of another world that still buzzed behind his eyes.
He pressed a hand over his chest. That stays with me always, it never ends, will with some rencantors when they reveal their rebirth.
Outside, the orphanage courtyard glowed under the sunrise. Children ran between the herb gardens, and the scent of fresh bread drifted from the kitchen wing. Near the stone well stood Sister Lira, the young, beautiful nun who had practically raised him. Her long brown hair caught the light like polished chestnut as she handed out morning chores to the younger kids.
Kael hesitated a heartbeat, then jogged over."Sister Lira!"
She turned, eyes bright. "Kael? You look like you've seen a spirit."
He grinned, still half-dazed. "nah, nothing like that, sister, but I… I awakened!"
Her hands flew to her mouth. "Truly? The goddess blesses us today!"Then, softer, "What class have you gotten?"
"Healer," he said, trying not to sound too proud. "Just this morning. It happened suddenly—I felt a warm energy going through my body and everything changed."
Lira clasped his shoulders, smiling through the shock. "A healer! Do you know how rare that is? Kael, this is wonderful.
He nodded quickly, keeping his expression earnest while his mind raced. No mention of the panels, no mention of another life. Just a normal awakening. In a world filled with swordsmen, mages, tamers, and priests, no one would question it.
"I'm still figuring it out," he said, laughing a little. "Feels strange but I'll get used to it"
Lira laughed with him, eyes kind. "Then take today to rest. Tomorrow, we'll find someone to guide your training."
Kael bowed his head in gratitude. "Thank you, Sister. Really."
She reached up to ruffle his hair the way she used to when he was small. "You've always had gentle hands, Kael. Perhaps the goddess saw that."
As she turned back to the children, Kael lingered by the well. His reflection rippled in the water—older, calmer, and touched by a faint golden shimmer that only he could see.
A second life, a hidden power, and a chance to live freely.
He clenched his fist and smiled at the sky.
I'll live this life to the fullest.
