The throbbing sensation hit me first. A relentless pounding that started at the back of my skull and radiated outward like ripples in disturbed water.
My eyelids felt heavy as I forced them open, squinting against the sterile fluorescent lighting overhead. The sharp scent of disinfectant filled my nostrils, confirming what I already suspected.
Hospital.
The memories came flooding back in fragments. Abby's fists connecting with my face. Ryan's hands grabbing at me. The sound of splintering wood when someone kicked down the door.
Liam.
My pulse quickened and I attempted to sit up, gasping as fresh waves of pain shot through my skull and legs.
