"Let's go through the tunnel up here," Adrian said, pointing up at the ceiling. "How can we get up there?" Dave asked, staring up in confusion.
"I- I think we need something to climb on," Adrian explained, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
"We need to get a table," Dave suggested, his eyes scanning the room. "We can't," Cassy replied, her voice laced with fear. "The tables are what are preventing those things from coming in."
"We have no choice, get the table" Adrian said, pulling over a table closer to him "All of them"
"No no no no" Billy rushed over to him, preventing him from pulling over the table "You can't!"
"Adrian if we pull off those tables, we are gonna get killed before we can do anything" Cassy said in terror as she pointed towards the door. The piled up tables began to fall as the hungry zombies pushed, grunting, flaying hands stretched through the opening.
"Move" Adrian glared at them as he pushed Billy out of the way and carried the table over "If you want to stay and become zombie food, you can all stay back"
Dave ran forward, staring at the window which had cracked open as zombies fell in "Shit!, we have to get out of here now" he bellowed
They looked over to see Adrian already on the tables, he punched the ceiling with all his might, growling.
Soon, the part of the ceiling broke and fell, he quickly climbed through and stretched his hands down
"Come on" he shouted
Billy rushed over, climbed the table shakily as she reached for his hands.
"Hurry up" Cassy screamed in tears, glancing at the zombie pile struggling through the window.
Dave stood still in fear as the door gave way and the zombies staggered towards them. He looked over to see Cassy being pulled up by Adrian and Billy.
He hurriedly climbed the table and grabbed Adrian's hands. Just as he was being pulled up, two zombies latched on to his right leg.
"No! Help me!" Dave shouted in horror as he began to kick the zombies in frenzy. Adrian and the girls quickly holds him and pulled him up just as the zombies reached.
They laid in the ceiling compartment gasping for breath.
"Thank you" Dave said, still shaking from fear, they all looked towards him.
"Let's keep moving" Adrian says as he began to crawl forward "Be careful, this place is fragile, it could break through"
They began to crawl after Adrian, the growls and grunts of the zombies gradually fading in a distance.
Son they arrived at an intersection, Adrian stopped and turned to look at them. "We need to find an outlet soon if we want to get out of here"
"And go where?" Cassy asked in disbelieve "This is the safest place we can be, I'm not leaving"
Billy stayed quiet, hugging her legs as she rested against Cassy.
"We can't" Dave whispers
"Why not?" Cassy snaps at him.
Adrian glanced around " Sooner or later, those zombies will get in through that outlet we created, I'm sure you don't want to know what happens next"
"Oh God" Cassy panicked as tears well up in her eyes
"Billy, can you locate the school library from up here?" Dave asked
Billy thought for a little bit and nodded " it should be that way" she pointed towards the left intersection.
"That way it is" Adrian replied as he began to crawl forward as they followed.
"Do you think everyone turned?" Billy whispered, tears dropping from her eyes.
"My mom and dad, they went on a date, I don't know if they made it back in time"
Cassy recounted.
"I don't know" Dave replied?
The crawlspace pressed down on them, dust clogging their throats and making every breath sting. Billy's palms scraped against rusted nails as she crawled forward, her chest heaving.
Behind her, Cassy whimpered, Adrian cursed under his breath, and Dave muttered prayers that dissolved into panicked gasps.
Soon, a faint glow appeared ahead. A broken vent opened into the old music room. Adrian shoved the grate loose and dropped inside, landing hard on the tiled floor. One by one, the others followed, coughing and trembling.
The silence felt like salvation. No pounding on doors, no rotten fingers clawing through windows. For the first time since the nightmare began, the four of them breathed freely.
Cassy laughed shakily, pressing her hand to her chest. "We—we made it. Oh my God, we actually made it."
Billy leaned against a piano, sweat dripping into her eyes. Her legs shook so badly she could barely stand. "We are finally safe" she whispered.
Dave sinked to the ground, his face pale. "We need to stay here. Lock it down. Wait it out until rescue comes."
Adrian snapped his head toward him. "Rescue? Look around you, idiot. No one's coming. The only way we live is if we keep moving and find supplies if we are going to survive another day"
Cassy shook her head, too exhausted to argue. She slumped against the wall, tears brimming in her eyes. "I just… I just need a moment. Please."
The room fell quiet. Outside, the muffled groans of the infected drifted faintly through the cracked windows, distant but present.
Ding—
sound. A single note, low and broken, as one of the dusty piano keys pressed down by itself.
Billy froze. "Did you hear that?" She asked, looking around in fear.
Adrian frowned, stepping toward the instrument. "It's nothing. Just old strings settling."
Tut- another sound came again, then it became louder.
The four of them spun toward the piano just as a pale, blood-smeared hand shot out from beneath it. A face followed, twisted and snarling—once a teacher, now a nightmare.
ZOMBIE!" Billy screamed as it lunged. Adrian swung a chair down on its head, shattering wood and bone. But before the corpse hit the floor, another crash sounded. Then another.
The walls of the music room trembled. Shadows shifted behind the cracked glass windows. Dozens of faces pressed against it—rotting students, jaws snapping, eyes wild.
assy stumbled back, her chest heaving. "No, no, no—there weren't this many before—"
he window shattered in a rain of glass. The horde poured in like a flood.
RUN!" Adrian bellowed.
hey scattered. Dave tried for the door, but three bodies slammed into him, dragging him down. His scream gurgled as teeth tore into his throat. Blood sprayed across the room.
Cassy shrieked, grabbing Billy's hand. They sprinted toward the back exit, but the door jammed. A swarm crashed into them before they could force it open. Billy's face twisted in horror as rotting jaws clamped down on her shoulder, dragging her into the sea of the dead.
drian fought like a madman, fists and feet flying, but there were too many. They clawed him down, tearing at his limbs, his roars of defiance swallowed in the frenzy.
assy was the last. Her hands pounded against the locked door until her knuckles split. She turned just as the horde closed in. Her scream cut off as they buried her beneath them.
ithin moments, the music room was nothing but carnage. Blood soaked the tiles, the piano shrieked under the weight of bodies, and silence returned as quickly as it had been broken.
he four classmates who had fought so hard to escape were gone—devoured in the very place they thought they'd found safety.
Somewhere else in the school, in a quiet corner where no one ever looked twice, another girl listened to the faint echoes of the chaos.
