Chapter 98: Poverty Doesn't Last Three Generations
In the Marvel Universe, most of the Hollywood stars were replaced by people Mo Fei didn't recognize, but technological development was almost identical to his original World.
This World still had Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, and Facebook.
The current timeline was 2007, and the U.S. President was still the one with the 'small flying shoes'; Ao Guan Hai had not yet taken office. Coming from the original World of 2019, Mo Fei had an endless stream of internet ideas in his mind. Finding an idea for Emily to start a business was incredibly easy.
The reason Mo Fei suggested Emily get into the internet now wasn't because he coveted her money. Instead, Mo Fei knew very well that women shouldn't be idle all the time, especially since he had his official girlfriend, Mikayla. Otherwise, things like catching him cheating or dramatic arguments would easily happen.
Mo Fei was currently selling Great Strength Pills, earning at least tens of thousands of dollars daily. He wasn't really short on money; it was enough for him and Mindy to live comfortably.
"Use Snapchat as a user acquisition tool. By providing an image IM chat tool, you can capture young people, especially users aged 15-24, and their social connections. Based on this, you can try to make breakthroughs in multiple directions with the product. You have a complete opportunity to break through the blockade of current social giants like Facebook and become a new social mini-giant."
Mo Fei meticulously explained Snapchat's success model to Emily, and Emily listened very attentively because she found that many of the things Mo Fei described were completely achievable, not just ideas Mo Fei came up with on a whim.
She graduated with an MBA from Princeton; her foundational skills might not be that solid, but she had some discerning judgment. She naturally saw that Mo Fei's business plan had considered almost every aspect, and even before starting, it already had a 70% chance of success.
"Perhaps I really have a chance to become an internet queen?"
Under Mo Fei's instigation, Emily, who originally had no great ambitions, suddenly felt a surge of ambition.
Having transmigrated, it wasn't that Mo Fei didn't have better and more brilliant ideas than Snapchat, but there were almost no models simpler or more replicable than Snapchat. It was the most suitable starting point for Emily.
If Emily failed with this, then giving her better ideas would be almost useless. If Emily made Snapchat successful, wouldn't it be a natural progression to transition to super unicorns like Instagram, Uber, and Airbnb?
Perhaps Emily could really use Snapchat as a base, challenge Facebook, and become the global social hegemon!
Thinking about Mark Zuckerberg's rise—he truly had nothing, even his idea was copied from his senior. Emily now at least had an idea, a mature business model, and over a hundred million dollars in capital. Why couldn't she succeed?
If he could cultivate a social queen and then press her beneath him, that feeling... just thinking about it made Mo Fei feel ecstatic.
When the Mobike example was presented back then, it made Mo Fei exclaim: 'A great man should be like this!'
Did you think the founder Mobike touted was really the founder? In fact, her status... haha, was almost like a boss's secretary, just a spokesperson launched by capital. She looked glamorous on the surface, but behind the scenes... hehe!
Hmm, Mo Fei decided, he was going to be the man of an internet queen!
—
The City Academy of Sciences held a school gathering, and Mikayla, to avoid the persistent 'flies' (undesirable men), pulled Mo Fei along with her.
Sam drove home his first car from the used car market, a nearly scrapped Beetle. That was his father's reward for him getting two A's.
Well, with a father like that, Sam felt his life was bleak.
But it didn't matter; Sam finally had his own car and could start working on poaching.
"Sam, do you really want to poach Mikayla's boyfriend? But he's so strong; even Thompson was easily beaten by him. What if you anger him and he attacks us?" Sam's good friend, Dave Lizewski, said worriedly.
"Don't... don't be afraid!" Sam recalled Mo Fei's formidable power when he kicked Thompson a long distance away, saying with some difficulty, "The Police are here; he wouldn't dare do anything to us. Otherwise, we'll call the Police!"
It must be said that animals in heat almost lose their instinct for fear. To compete for sexual resources, even the weakest animal dares to charge at one far stronger than it.
Sam had forgotten how he used to tremble under Thompson's presence, and how terrifying must the Great Demon King be who could make Thompson tremble?
The party was held at a lake, and the lawn by the lake was already filled with students from the City Academy of Sciences.
After driving the Beetle to the parking spot, Sam sat in the car, wiping his rearview mirror with a rag, then tidied his hair: "Dave, how do I look now?"
"So handsome!" Dave gave Sam a thumbs-up: "Mikayla will definitely be captivated by you, abandon her boyfriend, and fall into your arms."
Although his friend was quite idiotic and his aesthetic judgment couldn't be trusted, Sam wasn't asking him to evaluate him, but rather for his words to give him some courage. After all... he also had to face the Great Demon King whom even Thompson no longer dared to provoke.
Getting out of the car, Sam began searching for Mikayla in the crowd. After surveying a circle, he couldn't find Mikayla.
"Dave, have you found Mikayla?"
"I haven't found her either; maybe she hasn't arrived yet!"
"Not here yet?" Sam's gaze had almost scoured the clothes of every man and woman at the party, but he still hadn't seen Mikayla. He had to admit that Mikayla probably hadn't arrived yet.
"Then I'll wait for her here!"
No sooner had Sam finished speaking than he heard a powerful engine roar from behind him. The whirlwind stirred up by the speeding car almost blew him over.
He turned around and saw a brand new Chevrolet Camaro approaching. The entire car was sharp yet elegant, with LED daytime running lights that made the front end look mighty and grand. The raised hood constantly reminded him that this was a pure American muscle car. The side lines were more streamlined than the previous generation, and the sloping roofline perfectly blended with the distinctly upward-curving waistline on the rear fender.
His Goddess, Mikayla, whom he thought of day and night, was getting out of the car, laughing and chatting with her useless boyfriend.
Looking at Mo Fei's Chevrolet Camaro, and then at his own dilapidated Beetle, Sam couldn't help but fall silent.
Sam's heart was bleeding. 'It's one thing that I can't compare to him in other areas, but why can't I even compare to his car now?'
They say wealth doesn't last three generations, but Sam felt they were wrong. It should be that poverty doesn't last three generations.
Because poor people can't find girlfriends, and within three generations, they all become extinct.
Watching Mikayla about to pass by, Sam, unwilling to give up, still felt he could struggle a bit and wanted to ask Mikayla out: "Hi, Mikayla!"
"You know me? Are you also a student from our City Academy of Sciences?" Startled by Sam's sudden greeting, Mikayla stopped chatting with Mo Fei and turned around, looking at Sam curiously: "Hello, can I help you?"
Sam: "..."
