Chapter 2 - The Creation Myth: Between The Two Voids

10 years before Casius old consciousness connected to his current life.

"Daddy. Can you tell me and Casius the story about the earth and the moon again? The same way mommy used to." The 5 year old Amara gleamed at the king.

"Of course sweetie. Though I don't think your brother will be listening". He responded as he gestured to the boy with the far away look in his eyes. Amara just shook her head and hit the boy in the shoulder to get his attention.

Laughing, Julius took his children and scoped them up in his arms. Then he floated a book in front of them and the words before them came to life.

Long ago, before the universe formed. There was nothing. In that void, in that nothingness, was the light. That light was the sun. The sun that belted life and light all around it. But it grew lonely. So it made it, the solar system. The planets that orbited him were all magnificent and were powerful. Like him, they created avatars that held their divine power, and every day the planets and the sun gathered to have a banquet. The sun watched as all the planets played, it was their god, and they loved it so, for they needed its light to live. They fought and the winner got to be the closest to him, the strongest after him.

Though it loved them all, its favorite was Gaea. The earth that held the banquet was by far the sun's most free spirited and loving child. For what she had was beyond strength, it was the capability to create and sustain life in a way nothing else in the solar system could. All the planets could disappear and none of their deaths would hurt quite like Gaea's, not to the sun.

This rotation that the planets and the sun conducted however came to an end. During one of these banquets, Gaea disappeared. The Sun and the other planets searched for her endlessly it seemed, until they stumbled upon her, playing with something they had never seen before.

He called himself the moon. He was one of many that surrounded the planets in the sky. But of them he was the strongest, the only one capable of creating an avatar like the planets and the sun before him.

The planets quickly fell in love with it, and invited it to their banquet.

They each made a promise to it, that they would do whatever it wanted. Jupiter offered it a ring, Venus unconditional love.

But it rejected them all.

For it was smitten with the Sun's Favorite.

Gaea.

The sun wanted to destroy it, and during a banquet as the planets danced around the moon who sat next to the earth. Well, in an instant Thousands of Mountains and Forests behind the fight, no, behind the sun's wrath, were destroyed. There the sun held the moon but before it could attack it. The sun was pleaded to by a crying Gaea to spare it, as all the planets watched in shock and horror. Never seeing such violence transpire before, not like this.

Though the sun wanted to be rid of the moon, who had in its mind turned its children, and its favorite, against them.

It couldn't, not when she stood at its feet sobbing.

So the sun let it go, and retreated back to its star, and the other planets followed in suit to their homes.

All that was left,

Were the Moon and Earth.

" Daddy, why did the sun hate the moon so much?"

"It was because the moon was the only thing that could reflect its light. At least, in the sense of it also being able to make all the planets feel seen and want to circle around it as they did the sun"

"If I was the sun, I wouldn't hate the moon. I'd like to be friends with it."

"Of course you would. You're a werewolf, it's in your nature to trust the moon you dummy" The younger twin, Casius, spoke absentmindedly.

He was met with a swift punch from his older sister. Beginning a fight between the two that lasted for a good 10 minutes before they were both tuckered out.

Smiling at his two twins. Julius picked them both off the playroom's floor and magically whisped them away into their rooms.

"How the universe was formed, and how their relationship culminates, however, I guess is a story for another time."
