Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Obito's Surprise

Obito, who was working on his exam, heard the conversation between the two and couldn't help but lift his head, only to be stunned.

He recognized Shisui.

The Uchiha Clan lived together in the area designated by Konoha, so people of the same generation knew a bit about each other.

After all, they were from the same clan. Even if they hadn't met, they had heard of each other. Geniuses like Shisui were often mentioned by the elders of other families, making it hard not to know him.

Obito was a bit puzzled as to why Shisui would appear here and seemed to be quite familiar with Mokgetsu.

"Could it be that Teacher Habu is a distant relative of Shisui?" An unreliable guess popped into Obito's mind.

"Teacher, I'm done!"

While Obito was lost in thought, Might Guy suddenly shouted with great volume and energy.

"So fast?" Obito was baffled. He remembered that he hadn't stopped for too long, so how could Might Guy suddenly finish?

Curious, Obito leaned over for a look, and saw that Might Guy had only completed the first three multiple-choice questions; the others were left blank.

For a moment, Obito didn't know what to say, because the entire test only had ten questions — four multiple-choice and six short answers.

Although there weren't many questions he knew how to answer, he preferred to fill in the whole test to make it look a bit better.

Hearing Might Guy, Mokgetsu came over to help check Might Guy's answers, and found two mistakes; only the first question was correct.

"Sorry, teacher, I…" Might Guy, seeing that he got two out of the three questions wrong, was at a loss for words.

"No worries. It's normal not to know. If you knew everything, I wouldn't need to teach you." Mokgetsu smiled and reassured him.

"Don't feel upset by a low score. Think of it this way, you have lots of room to improve. Improving from five to twenty-five is a lot easier than from eighty to one hundred."

Upon hearing Mokgetsu's words, Might Guy's spirits lifted. For the first time, someone other than his father encouraged him instead of dismissing him as hopeless.

"You're right, Teacher! I have a lot of room for improvement!" Might Guy's momentum surged instantly.

Afterward, Might Guy listened very attentively to Mokgetsu's explanations, doing his best to understand, despite the difficulty.

Next up was Obito. He filled out six questions but only got two correct.

Mokgetsu treated him the same as Might Guy, reassuring him first before explaining the problems.

After the explanations, Mokgetsu handed out two more similar test papers to both of them.

"More to do…" Obito said, his gaze irresistibly drawn to Shisui practicing Fire Release.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!" Shisui quickly formed hand seals and instantly spat out a large fireball, two meters high, towards the river.

Watching the gigantic fireball, Obito was thoroughly impressed, acknowledging in his heart the brilliance of the clan's known genius.

As an Uchiha, he also knew the Great Fireball Jutsu, a classic Ninjutsu.

But his fireballs, in terms of size and power compared to Shisui's, could only be considered small.

"Is he another genius like Kakashi?"

Might Guy, on the side, didn't know Shisui, but from Shisui's appearance and build, estimated him to be only about six or seven years old, yet capable of such a formidable Ninjutsu. It truly surprised him.

This reminded Might Guy of Kakashi, whom he regarded as his rival.

The Ninja Academy had three terms: the first from April to July, followed by a summer break; the second from September to December, followed by a winter break; and then the third term after winter.

Kakashi, during the second term, hadn't even completed it before he applied for early graduation and passed, which spoke volumes of his genius.

At this moment, Shisui gave Might Guy the same impression as the age-similar Kakashi.

Next, Shisui began practicing the Mighty Dragon Fire Jutsu.

Seeing that Shisui could use other Fire Release techniques, Might Guy was even more astonished, for he himself had trained in the Three-Body Jutsu taught at school for three years and still found it difficult.

Watching Shisui control the fire dragon flying through the sky, Obito was equally envious, thinking that if he could master this skill, Rin would surely be impressed.

"It's clear you have improved a lot in form transformation from the first time. The fire dragon's speed is faster. You must have practiced quite a bit after you got home yesterday." Mokgetsu commented with praise.

"Mainly, it's the help from your cultivation manual, Teacher Mokgetsu." Hearing Mokgetsu's praise, Shisui smiled and said.

"Let me demonstrate it for you once more."

Mokgetsu stepped in front of Shisui, clapped his hands, and rapidly gathered and compressed chakra inside his body, then instantly spewed out three enormous fire dragons.

Seeing the ferocious, burning three huge fire dragons, Obito was a bit dumbfounded.

A second ago, he thought Shisui's Mighty Dragon Fire was impressive, but after Mokgetsu's demonstration, Obito's opinion changed.

The two of them didn't appear to be using the same Jutsu. Shisui's fire dragons seemed like snakes compared to Mokgetsu's massive fish, and why was Mokgetsu's so fast that it seemed like no hand seals were made?

The three huge fire dragons rapidly flew in the sky, leaving lines of flames in their path, ultimately forming several large characters in the air.

"Stop staring and get back to work," Obito read out the words in the sky, then noticed Mokgetsu looking at him with a harmonious smile.

Startled, Obito quickly explained, "I was just taking a break to watch the sky."

Sneaking a glance at Might Guy, Obito found that he had already swiftly picked up his pen to resume his work.

"Have you seen enough now?" Mokgetsu asked.

"Yes, yes, I have." Obito hurriedly picked up his pen to start working again.

After writing for a while, Obito couldn't suppress his curiosity any longer and asked, "Teacher Habu, what's your relationship with Shisui?"

"Teacher and disciple relationship. What did you think it was?" Mokgetsu replied, glancing at Might Guy's paper.

"Hehe, I figured it was a mentor-student thing." Obito didn't mention his original absurd guess.

"Teacher Habu, if I pass the test, will you teach me that Jutsu you used just now?" Obito asked eagerly.

In his mind, he was already imagining showing off his new Ninjutsu to Nohara Rin, or, in other words, about to celebrate.

"Of course," Mokgetsu nodded.

"Really?" Obito's face lit up with joy.

"Really."

"Teacher Habu, what kind of Taijutsu do you know?" Might Guy asked Mokgetsu expectantly.

Though he found Mokgetsu using the Mighty Dragon Fire Jutsu to be very cool, Might Guy was resolute in his focus on Taijutsu alone!

Without saying a word, Mokgetsu walked over to a large tree, gathered chakra in his feet, tensed his muscles, and then kicked out a Tornado Kick with incredible speed.

With a loud crash, the tree quickly fell to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"How about this Taijutsu? Do you like it?" Mokgetsu brushed off the dust, smiling at Might Guy.
