Although deep down Youyu felt that it would be a waste to visit the Industrial Illusions Society headquarters without getting some cards to enhance his deck, he didn't bring it up.
After all, his current status is the Duel King, and it seems like his buddy Yako is ready to idolize him.
Seeing the words "affection up" pop up continuously above the guy's head and those eyes filled with admiration like he was gazing at a high master, Youyu felt a bit embarrassed asking for perks...
Well, strictly speaking, Pegasus has already sponsored them with a card.
Although it looks like a non-effect card with nothing drawn on it, even if you haven't seen the original animation, based solely on experience with Duel Monsters, you'd know that the more vague the card's text, or even nothing written on it, the more genuine it is a Divine Card.
For example, if you have a Magic Card, with an image of the moon, and no effect text, you can just freely claim that you're activating this moon, then summon a monster to destroy it. Once the moon disappears, the tide will retreat, and all monsters on the opponent's field will be wiped out...
Can those flashy cards with effect texts one, two, three, clearly written do something like this?
Moreover, following the duel wager, Tenma Yako has already voluntarily agreed to hand over all the command rights of Industrial Illusions Society's Inner World to Youyu. That's quite a lot of power, and if Youyu still insists on additional conditions for benefits, even he would feel like a real jerk...
People should know when to stop. Youyu considers himself a decent person, just a few cards, nothing too urgent.
However, to everyone's surprise, Yako suddenly showed his understanding: "But since the upcoming battle is about survival, our opponent is more powerful than ever, we must naturally be fully prepared.
So here's the thing. Now that Mr. Pegasus isn't here, I can take full charge of Industrial Illusions Society here. I've already arranged for the Society's current stock of all non-confidential category cards to be fully open to everyone for the next few days."
Everyone present was instantly shocked.
"Holy cow, is this for real!?"
All the cards from Industrial Illusions Society? Any rarity level!?
This is too generous.
Originally intending to righteously decline anything offered, Youyu found himself suddenly silent.
He genuinely wanted to refuse, yet this was just too much...
Among everyone there, Insector Haga and Dinosaur Lyuzaki were the happiest.
This wasn't really anything to do with these two extras; they weren't exactly friends with Yugi.
But these two jokers found out earlier that Pegasus had sent an invitation letter specially requesting Muto Yugi visit the Society headquarters. They figured there must be goodies to be had, and plenty of Rare Cards to be won, so they sneaked over in the airplane's luggage compartment...
After enduring all the boring talk, they finally heard Rare Cards were within reach. The duo nearly exploded with excitement.
"By the way," Youyu glanced at them, "why are these two here?"
In the animation, Youyu's impression of them was basically useless troublemakers who weren't very good at dueling or trustworthy. Back then, Haga even threw Yugi's five Dark Great Mage cards into the ocean, and in the late Orichalcos arc, these two turned into traitors without blinking an eye, selling out for mere pennies and quickly joined Doma.
Seeing as they were about to face off against Doma, Youyu had no intention of bringing these two oafs along.
Everyone looked at each other, discussed briefly, and realized these two seemed like mere bystanders, with no real reason to be here. So, after a vote, it was unanimously decided to kick these two clowns, who looked like typical traitors, off the team...
Of course, Haga and Lyuzaki were outraged. The duo immediately flipped out.
Protest! A stern protest!
Especially Youyu, he seemed to be deliberately targeting us!
There are so many people here, yet you're the chatterbox!
The duo looked furious, glaring at Youyu with venomous eyes filled with resentment and malice; it seemed like... seemed like...
...they were itching to drag him into a duel on the spot.
However, President Haima stepped forward, stood in front of them with arms crossed, wearing a disdainful look.
"He's right," Kaiba said coldly. "Trash should leave quickly, there's no place for your voices here."
In the societal hierarchy, the President was a successful figure who climbed from an orphanage to his current status by any means necessary, experiencing and witnessing unimaginable things.
The duo, essentially bullies, were instantly intimidated by Kaiba's single remark and stare, too frightened to utter a word, reluctantly conceding, gritting their teeth silently, ready to walk away.
But then Youyu reconsidered his decision: "Wait."
The duo shivered, eyes eagerly snapping back to Youyu.
Whoa, could this guy suddenly have a change of heart and become a good guy?
They quickly returned, eager to pledge loyalty on the spot, swearing to fight against Doma to their last breath, offering their hearts and more.
If Youyu said he wanted to take them along to collect Rare Cards, the duo would happily lick his shoes right then and there.
After all, these two had discarded their decency back in Duelist Kingdom, and eliminated morals, alongside the likes of hidden cards, they were willing to do anything without limits.
Yet Youyu seemed thoughtful: "Upon consideration, although they're not particularly useful, they were, after all, champions and runners-up of a national competition. Though they're minor players, they are relatively stronger than ordinary duelists..."
Seeing the change in Youyu's attitude, Haga and Lyuzaki were overjoyed, thinking there was hope for the Rare Cards! They quickly flattered him: saying Youyu was truly worthy of being the Duel King, in his prowess and demeanor unrivaled, even looking quite handsome...
But unexpectedly, Youyu, after analyzing, continued: "Well, the problem is if we let them go now, and they defect to the enemy, it could be quite troublesome.
So, how about this? At least during the battle against Doma, we should find somewhere to... uh... educate and train them, and then release them once things settle."
The duo was dumbstruck.
Are you a devil?
What kind of "training education" is this actually grounding them!?
"I see, as expected of Mr. Youyu, such thorough considerations," Yako mused, holding his chin. "Indeed, these two barely qualify as insiders. With such a major battle ahead, there is indeed a risk someone might defect."
The duo was aghast — are you seriously discussing such terrifying topics so earnestly!?
Where's the police? Where's the police at?
...Oh wait, weren't they still basically illegal stowaways?
Ooops... sorry for the interruption...
