Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: There’s a Walkthrough!

"Dark Magician, attack!" Pandora waved his hand grandly, "Dark Magic!"

The red Dark Magician soared into the air, the green Magic Staff swung through the air. The fluctuation of Magic Power poured out from the tip of the staff, condensing into sharp black mist that rushed towards the opposing field with entwined electricity.

An Electric Man with an attack power of only 1600 was obviously no match for the Dark Magician's strike. The pitch-black Magic Power easily pierced through his body, and the Light Warrior let out a pained moan beneath his mask, his entire body overflowing with electricity like a burst dam, shattering in an instant under the magical impact.

"Ugh..."

Youyu raised his hand to shield himself, but he still couldn't withstand the shock of his Life Points dropping. The pain made him instinctively kneel halfway down, sweating profusely all over, feeling as if he had just finished running a marathon.

[Youyu, LP 2400 → LP 1500]

"So, just a second-rate weakling after all." Pandora scoffed disdainfully, shaking his head, "I don't know how a weak Duelist like you managed to obtain a Duel Disc, but meeting me is the unluckiest thing of your life. It seems your career as a Duelist is about to end here."

He took another card from his hand, inserting it into the slot of his Duel Disc's Magic Trap Zone.

"I Set one card on the field, and end my turn."

Youyu, kneeling halfway on the ground, heard the hot and heavy breathing coming from his nostrils.

Across the field stood a Dark Magician with an attack power of 2500 — it doesn't sound like much, but for Youyu, whose initial Card Deck was limited by Electric Man, it was an insurmountable peak.

His field was now empty, and his Life Points were down to 1500, while Pandora's side was almost unscathed. Although it still didn't meet the traditional life lock conditions of Yu-Gi-Oh!, it was unfavorable enough.

However, even in this seemingly hopeless situation, Youyu couldn't help but show a hint of a smile.

Reaching this point, his strategy was already half-successful.

He knew that relying on this whole set of plain initial cards to defeat Pandora was almost impossible. He was mentally prepared to accept the task failure, but he didn't come without any preparation to recklessly throw himself into this.

Simply put, a strategy analysis of this task with Pandora was already available in the forum. The only thing players needed to prepare in advance was one card, a crucial card capable of directly turning the tables in this duel.

Of course, Youyu had prepared that card in advance, but unfortunately, he hadn't drawn it yet.

There's nothing unexpected about this; with a deck of forty cards, the probability of drawing any specific one isn't high.

Not everyone can be like a King and draw whatever they want as if they're the pseudo-African ones.

But that's okay, because players may not be able to God Draw, but they have a system-gifted built-in skill—

——Destiny Draw.

Destiny Draw, commonly referred to by Linked World players as "D Draw." It can only be used once per duel, and it can only be triggered when your Life Points are critically low or there's a huge disparity between yours and the opponent's, with the field situation extremely disadvantageous.

Once the trigger condition is met, during the next draw phase, players may choose to activate the skill "Destiny Draw," and lock onto the "Destiny Card" pre-designated during deck construction.

It should be emphasized that this skill can draw only the card pre-designated by the player, which is why players tend to choose a versatile, powerful card as their Destiny Card; something capable of turning the situation around in many unfavorable circumstances.

For example, The Noble Power of Hanno...

(Trap Card, Mirror Force, destroys all Attack Position Monsters on the opponent's field when attack is declared)

But a card like that is undoubtedly of the highest rarity, something Youyu certainly doesn't have on an initial low-level account.

He set a different card, specifically prepared for this task's strategy.

"Draw!"

After drawing, Youyu glanced at it briefly, then added it to his hand.

"I Summon Elemental Hero Burstinatrix!"

A flame erupted on the field, and a tall and fiery long-haired female Hero leaped out.

[Elemental Hero Burstinatrix, Attack 1200]

"Oh? Instead of reinforcing your defense, you're going on the offensive?" Pandora started chanting tactically.

"If I don't use Attack Position, I can't punch that annoying face of yours."

Emmm...how come this conversation feels so familiar?

(Note: In the Yu-Gi-Oh! DM animation, Pandora's voice actor is Kouji Yusa, the same as DIO from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

Pandora hooked his lips into a contemptuous smile, then pressed a button on his Duel Disc.

"I don't know what you're planning...but at this moment I activate the Magic Card—Beckoning to the Dark!"

Pandora's Set Card on the field flipped up, revealing a green Magic Card... without the Quick-Play symbol next to the Magic Card text.

Nani? Activating a Magic Card during the opponent's turn??

According to orthodox Yu-Gi-Oh! rules, a Magic Card can be activated only during your own Main Phase, only Quick-Play Magic Cards can be activated during an opponent's turn.

...Oh, it's the era of Yu-Gi-Oh! DM, my bad.

In the DM animation, the King could activate Brain Control, Change of Heart, and Monster Reborn during the opponent's Battle Phase, you know.

Dense dark clouds began to gather in the skies above the field, accompanied by scarlet lightning. A demon's massive claw extended from deep within the clouds, seizing Burstinatrix from Youyu's field and dragging her into the depths of darkness.

"Hahaha! Beckoning to the Dark is a Magic Card that drags a monster on the field into the dark abyss, so now you're left with an empty field again!" Pandora laughed triumphantly, "Whatever you were planning is useless!"

Youyu pondered.

He thought for a moment and inserted a card into the slot of his Duel Disc's Magic Trap Zone.

"Then I Set a card and end my turn."

"Just as expected, an outclassed Duelist with no moves left, huh? Well, against my Dark Magician, that is of course; common Duelists cannot defeat me."

Pandora grew increasingly arrogant and proud, to the point where his nostrils were facing the sky.

"My turn! This will also be your last turn!"

After drawing a card, he appeared to be even more buoyed up.

"Hahaha, let me show you what the ultimate Mage Master is!" He raised the card he had just drawn high, "Let me show you a powerful card that can summon the highest-level magician in an instant!

I'll activate the Magic Card—Dark Magic Curtain!"

Grim bones appeared on the field, adorned with a hexagram emblem on its chest, the black and drifting curtain billowing despite no wind.

"This card allows me to pay half my Life Points to Special Summon one 'Dark Magician' from my Deck! Come forth, Dark Magician!"

[Pandora, LP 3800 → LP 1900]

The bones stretched its bony arms, unveiling the curtain beneath, and a red figure flipped out skillfully mid-air, landing crouched on the field.

[Dark Magician, Attack 2500]

Youyu was "shocked": "Two Dark Magicians!?"

"Hahaha, that's right, with a rare card like Dark Magician, I've got three whole copies in my deck!" Pandora continued to swell with pride, "Cards are the source of a Duelist's power, and that's the biggest difference between you and an outclassed Duelist like me!"

Go forth, Dark Magician! Dark Magic!"

The attack power of two Dark Magicians totaled 5000, and there wasn't even a single Monster on Youyu's field for defense.

Yet not only did he not panic, but he smiled at the moment of his success, even itching to throw out a "That's not for sure" to show off...but considering he's not the protagonist, he set that thought aside.

"Hold on," Youyu raised his head, flashing Pandora a strange smile, "Before your Dark Magicians launch an attack, I'm going to activate this card...

...Reveal the Set Card, Magic Card—Last Day of Witch!"
