Chapter Seven: The Fight Against Daredevil
Daredevil had grown close to the gang's building where the fight was happening now.
He stood on the roof of a nearby building — the very roof Daniel had been on before he began his assault — watching, information streaming around him through his other heightened senses. He heard quick breaths, the clash of metal against people, and the echo of rapid footsteps on concrete.
(There is one person fighting them all,) Daredevil was surprised.
.. (But he's not killing them. Also, this is the first time I've sensed him; I've never met him before), Daredevil thought silently.
With each second he heard different heartbeats: some tense, some strong and steady, belonging to that man.
Daredevil was immediately struck that this wasn't a brutal madman like Frank Castle {the punisher}; rather, it was someone who moved with a resolve resembling his own in earlier days.
Daredevil decided he would observe the fight a little longer to learn about this new man and see whether his power was suitable or not.
Daredevil had recently fought alongside Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist when they confronted the Hand gang; he knew some people possess the power to take this path, and others take it without power and die quickly like the White Tiger.
After some observation he thought,
(His style is chaotic... street fighting. He doesn't rely on a set system, he just strikes fast before he's struck. But his body endures; he's strong though not superhuman. But what is this energy around him!!?)
Daredevil sensed a strange power in the air whenever the man landed a heavy blow.
(The energy comes from the gloves... they're not ordinary, there's something special about them. Not like Iron Fist's power, but similar in a way.)
Daniel was in the middle of six gang members, moving lightly despite the numbers. When one of them fired a shot, Daredevil heard a strange impact — it wasn't the usual sound of a bullet; it was as if something had absorbed the blow.
(Shield? No, not a metal shield... it's energy surrounding his body. How?)
After more watching, Daredevil began to prepare to intervene. He felt the situation might spiral out of control. He grabbed his iron staff, which splits in half with a steel cable connecting the two pieces, then quietly leapt from the roof to the rear courtyard of the headquarters.
With measured steps he entered from below where some of the gang's men were attempting to flee. One strike was enough to drop the first man, then he pulled the second with a quick sweep of the cable before a shot was fired.
Up above, Daniel had reactivated his special Q. He surged through four men as if the wind pushed him; a light white shield absorbed their attacks which Daniel ignored and struck before they could recover, then he delivered a strong, E-augmented blow to one's chest — the man flew backward and fell unconscious. The fourth tried to stab him with a knife, but Daniel deflected it with the glove, then returned a second E-powered strike — the second attacker was launched from the ground and slammed into the men behind him, writhing from the force of the hit, even though he wore bullet-resistant armor. His movements were more confident than ever before, his eyes watching every detail.
Then he heard a sound from below — the rapid clang of metal and a man screaming in pain. Daniel turned for a moment; he thought some gang members had come to aid whoever he was fighting, but what he saw was strange: a red shadow moving lightly, toppling those trying to climb up.
The instant Daniel saw him he smiled, a secret joy within him; he recognized him immediately. He had even expected to meet him — after all, this was his territory. The two of them began to clear out the gang together.
The fight ended when the last man fell to the ground, leaving Daniel and Matt Murdock, Daredevil's famous lawyer, staring at one another.
Matt Murdock was the first to speak: "If I hadn't intervened, you'd have been in real trouble."
"Why are you doing this?"
Daniel answered Matt honestly; what had emboldened him to take on an entire gang was the item he had bought earlier {Guardian Angel}, and also Daniel always fought with an escape route in mind — the windows; if he sensed danger he'd flee with his special Q, and not to forget Daniel's motive in all this: the many gems he'd gained from the fight.
Daniel replied while readying Q: "This is my life and I'm free to live it." Then he lunged toward Daredevil.
Daredevil was initially surprised, but he evaded Daniel's attack with astonishing speed; the assault was direct and powerful, Daniel charging like a human projectile. Yet Daredevil stepped back only half a pace, and turned with a lightness that let the blow graze past his face and smash into the wall behind him with a violent metallic sound.
Daredevil raised an eyebrow and said, "Calm down, I don't want to kill you!"
Daniel didn't answer; he charged a light energy into his gloves, and the air around them seemed to shift {E}. Then he advanced again.
The first strike was straight, the second sideways, the third upward — a blend of raw force and crude street training. Each blow would have felled a man, but Daredevil moved with astonishing nimbleness, dodging with minimal effort.
(He knows every move before I make it), Daniel thought as he suddenly changed his style to try to trick his opponent. He stomped hard on the ground and veered at a sharp angle, taking advantage of the small burst from his Q to appear behind Daredevil. But he was surprised to find the latter had spun at the same moment, as if he'd anticipated it.
(Damn, he hears heartbeats too, so he must have known I wanted to trick him.)
(Okay, my blows are stronger than his; I'll catch him if I persist.)
After several exchanges, Daredevil received an attack on his cane, but it was strong enough to push him back.
Daredevil thought, (That energy again!.. his strength has multiplied unnaturally.)
Daniel shouted, "Show me how well you hear, Daredevil!" and then used the second E.
Daredevil jumped back, fully evading, but he lost his footing for a second. Daniel seized the moment and surged toward him; his fist gleamed with a blue energy as if a charge of pure power {Q}, and he struck Daredevil in the chest. Daredevil slammed hard against the rear wall, but he rolled quickly; the shield he wore absorbed the impact, and he was back on his feet.
Daredevil smiled faintly and said, "A strong hit..."
As Daniel tried to rise he noticed his cane had been twisted around his leg and pinned him in place. In an instant Daniel was on the ground, Daredevil above him, attacking Daniel's face. Their breaths were loud in the room. Daredevil said in a low voice, "Your power is impressive, but it's not enough — you're easily deceived."
Daredevil landed several successful strikes until Daniel felt the energy around him once again. The glove slid off Daniel's hand. Daniel's anger hoarsened inwardly (I didn't expect the mana to run out now, this is my last ability to use), he thought: (Luna, buy me a Sapphire Crystal for mana and also with the rest of the currency buy me an AR item).
{AR=Armor}
[Okay, done.]
Daniel didn't focus on Luna's words because Daredevil was attacking him now and they engaged in another bout.
The battle wasn't entirely even; the upper hand belonged to Daredevil, especially after Daniel's mana was depleted.
As time passed Daniel began to pant, his movement losing some of its balance and his body bearing injuries. Even after buying Armor, Daredevil breathed slow and steady; only a light sweat on his brow. He stepped to the side, then delivered a precise strike with his cane to Daniel's shoulder joint, completely undermining his balance. In the next moment he spun him down to the ground, grabbed his arm from behind, and twisted it down until Daniel was pinned.
Daniel thought inwardly: (I think I'll use one of the Summoner Spells).
She quickly said to him, [I don't recommend you do that a second time.]
