ADANNA POV (Point of view)
The cove was quiet, like too quiet. The boat drifted slowly between the thick mangrove roots, the motor off now, the only sound the soft slap of water against the hull, but Eden wasn't quiet.
Beneath my palms, the metal surface vibrated with a steady pulse that had grown stronger since dawn. It was no longer just a faint rhythm. It felt deeper now, sharper, and almost… aware.
My fingers tightened. "Darian."
His head lifted instantly.
"What is it?"
"It's changing again," I whispered.
The pulse spiked suddenly under my hands and a strong vibration shot through the metal which made Darian's eyes darkened immediately.
"They found us." My stomach dropped.
"How?"
"I don't know yet," he said calmly, though I could see the tension in his shoulders. "But Kade doesn't stop hunting once he gets close."
The words barely left his mouth before Eden pulsed again, and it was harder this time, then a low sound echoed from somewhere across the water.
