Chapter 6 - The Alien Limb

In the morning, he opened his eyes to the chilling sensation of the hard, cold concrete floor against his skin. As he slowly lifted his head and looked around, he felt a slight but uncomfortable weight on his back. While trying to stand up, he noticed with horror the existence of something he had never seen before, bursting through his skin in a bloody mess just below his left shoulder.

With great fear and curiosity, he tried to turn around. There, protruding from his back, was a small but strange limb. It did not belong to any creature he had ever seen; rather than muscle and skin, it was covered with a smooth yet incredibly durable, shiny, and metallic material. He could feel a kind of energy, which he could not identify, flowing through it.

When he hesitantly touched the limb with his hand, his logic told him it was a part of his body, but at the same time, it felt completely alien, separate from him. When he tried to tear it off in a panic, he felt a deep pain, like a sharp, mechanical warning signal echoing in his brain. This was no longer just a simple mutation. The fundamental nature of his body was changing irrevocably, transforming him into something completely different, something unknown.

There were only a few days left until the friends he had called for were to arrive. But he was changing more with each passing hour. Every time he looked into the rusty, cracked mirrors of the facility, he no longer knew who the reflection staring back at him was. Was there an end to this terrifying transformation? Or would he eventually lose his humanity completely and turn into an entirely different being?

He now had only a few days left to find the answers to these questions…

The darkness of the shadow behind the light transforms the soul, not the body. The silhouette in the mirror is now a familiar stranger.Even if the body is shattered, the soul is what is truly you.
