"You're playing a dangerous game, Matteo," Nico said, leaning back.
"If the test is negative and you keep her anyway, you're not just fighting her anymore. You're fighting yourself. Eventually, she will realize you're just keeping her for the sake of it."
Matteo didn't answer. He couldn't. How could he explain that the silence of the penthouse felt less like a tomb simply because he knew she was behind that bedroom door?
