Chapter 18 - Marching Thunder

A night much like others but the moon is no where to be seen and the very domain of Corvin, the skies trembled and thunder rolls across as if the drums of war sang. A massive Unkindness unlike anything to have gathered under Corvin's influence flew overhead their noise almost as deafening as the thunder above. The skies above Pravum thunder violently as if marking them with a dark will. The windows and walls of the city seems to shake in fear for what was to come. Every person behind it's walls felt a chill, tonight was different almost supernaturally so.

Fourteen of sixteen companies that are of the Obsidian Phalanx; the scutum companies that are outfitted in heavy obsidian plate armor enchanted with Dread Aura, resilience and durability. And seven of the eight support companies outfitted in dark obsidian unfused leather and chainmail. Wielding a long bow made of obsidian fused oak, string of animal sinew laced with fine obsidian fibers. A bow unnaturally strong increasing its draw weight and allowing it to snap without breaking allowing for higher penetration. Arrows made of the same wood, tipped with obsidian shards capable of tearing into flesh and enchanted inhibit healing.

This force of eight hundred and eighty four legionaries stamped their feet upon the earth causing a thunder repeatedly across the city. Each one filled with a dark resolve, a pride in the fact they are about to march and fulfill a purpose that they dedicated themselves to in Corvin's name. Garrus and Veridian at the fore of the formation with eyes full of resolution and fury. They felt Corvin's fury through the very connection that willingly accepted, every one in the formation felt the cold dark fury with in. They themselves wished to release a wrath upon their once abusers and captors. The citizens of the Imperium watched in awe as the legionaries, their captains, their commanders gave one final stomp into the ground welcoming their ruler, their Raven Lord!

In unison: WE AWAIT YOUR COMMAND RAVEN LORD!

Corvin: Tonight my Legion! My loyal people who pledged their very lives to my cause we march! We march against the rot! Against Corruption! Against the very chains that held you in slavery and abuse! Against the chains that still at this very moment bind people in their malice! TODAY WE BREAK THOSE CHAINS! TODAY THE CLEANSING OF THIS CORRUPTION, WE BEGIN THE CLEANSING! Forward my Legion for I shall lead you towards triumph!

The entire growing city of Obsidios Lithos heard the striking of boot to earth, every legionnaire in lock step unison led by Corvin himself, Garrus, and Veridian. As soon as they left the gates of the city every one got back to work for their jobs were only beginning. People would still come seek this dark order. The three total companies of legionnaires that stay behind manned the battlements and remained alert. They would also be needed to further the training of any who found their way here and joined the growing Legion. It was also at this time the very last block of obsidian stone was set marking the completion of the massive outer walls complete with, tower walls, and battlements completely enveloping the ever growing city.

As the legion marched with Corvin in lead and his Obsidian Marshall and Legion Commander just behind him. This march would take roughly eight hours of marching including breaks and rest to ensure the troops stayed fresh for the fight to come. As minutes passed slowly stretching into an hour they stopped to rest, resting in a circle formation with their backs to the center setting up perimeter to ensure no one could approach without notice. As the march began again you could tell the tension each legionnaire held not from fear or nervousness but excitement from finally being able to bring even a fraction of the pain they felt upon the Union.

Their obsidian plate catching the faint glow from distance stars drinking in the light as if they wore the abyss. The Unkindness up above watching from the sky to ensure nothing approached as they march. Their Lord Corvin in front, his back seemed to hold the night sky above. Each Captain held the mark connecting them to the Flock Link along with Veridian and Garrus. Even the basic legionnaire had them, they moved as one as if a solid yet flexible piece of obsidian steel. Their march unnaturally silent upon the ground, silent if they needed to be and yet thunderous when they wished to be heard.

Through the night as the it grew deeper in darkness they marched for hours more coupled with breaks in-between, even the legionnaires wished to keep marching for they knew the corruption that awaited their obsidian steel. They knew though they rested for their well being so they could perform to their Lord's expectation to excise his dark will, to establish his dark order cleansing the moral rot. A city of immense immoral suffocant awaited ruin.

Then upon the very last hour they saw the very walls as they drew closer and closer the clouds seemed to tremble every more. The thunder rumbling ever louder heralding their arrival, the Unkindness above cawing as bringing a omen of what is to befall. The legion was commanded to cease their silent marching and to march with a thunder.

Garrus: Let them hear you! Let them Hearken to the Dread you bring to their corrupted souls!

Every legionnaire obey almost instantly their marching stomp, their sabatons pounding the earth. The watch upon the walls of Pravum looked in fear while a small number yet carried the full weight of Dread. They rang the alarms of the city signaling an attack, the city guard in their barracks began to scramble grabbing their weapons and sprinting to the walls. Their captain joining them on the walls, the city officials told with haste of an approaching army when told of their numbers they laughed as they told them to carry on. These officials went back to their counting, to their vices of malice.

It was then that same woman from before looked through that same tiny window and the very walls it was attached to seemed to shake in fear from the thunder that only grew more intense. The very skies quaked as if fearing the dark fury that is to be unleashed. For some it was dread, it was a primal fear. Others a hope of change, most have heard stories now the the dark keep and the it's spreading influence.

It is then when Corvin and his legion came to halt just outside the range of the walls of the city. It is now when Corvin's careful control of his unbridled fury and his attained might shall be exercised for the first time without restraint. There shall be no mercy given to the officials, to the city guards, and to anyone who took part in the chaining, in the abuse, and the very grotesque acts witnessed.
