When BB tried to enter the library, he had found himself locked out and was in a tense stalemate with ODETTA as he had access to the war machine that was Scott whilst also being at the individual mercy of ODETTA and whomever she chose next.
"Do you want me to show you?"
"If you're talking about the library then I will burn the place to the ground without a second thought and nothing you say will ever make me change my mind."
"There's always going to be a recovery, BB. Then you'll be obsolete and I'll be back at the adventure with a new crew."
BB let out a fake laugh before he walked to the library. This wasn't a bluff against ODETTA, he one hundred percent believed that he was going to do it. He had found himself as a person in a Mexican stand-off with this machine.
"I should've told them to stay together; it doesn't matter now."
They had gotten dinner and were in the dining room. BB still remembered all of the files he had read all those years ago. In lack of better words, they were the ones who had no chance of redemption. BB had found his love for Sugar to be stronger than anything else he had ever felt.
"They're going to suffer because of you; you know that right?"
"I'll let them, they'll survive."
BB knew what he had to do because he immediately moved to work as he took a match he stole from the DA's house and started lighting them one by one. He walked deeper into the library and had the place burn down around him like a parade of flame was backing his performance.
"So, this is the end of the line for me?"
The young man had a vivid imagination and had known when he was hallucinating but he found himself sitting side by side with the likes of his entire family, loved and unloved. The crew and his adoptive family had been next to him. A family picnic. All I ever wanted. This is so, beautiful! Sad was that little boy that lived inside BB, but this was finally happiness, peace. Or so he believed.
"You know it buddy! Now, let's crack open a few cold ones and enjoy the warm weather!"
He followed as instructed. He didn't like the taste, but he was enjoying the intoxicating feel. It was actually him inhaling smoke. It was in their hands now; they just had to survive until they could let go.
