"You really had me scared there for a little bit."
"Oh please, it was only for two days that I lost it. Don't act like it was for a few years or anything."
"Well, we needed our best gun on the case."
The trio simply walked down the street. It was around fall and felt like it was a normal day. The air was cool; no people were on the street. For some reason, there were quite a bit of drones in the air.
"After a few hours of dealing with the cops, I'm finally off that pole and down here."
Sugar and Lia were simple people. Not too complex in schedule and of time as they spent it the same every day. Though, their minds were as Sugar had heard the voice of somebody in his mind's ear. The same mind's ear that allows one to hear their own thoughts and have music stuck in there. The only difference was that the voice in his mind wasn't exactly his. It belonged to a smooth-talking madman.
"Just a matter of time."
"Who said that?"
The pirates had traversed time to party on a forested island that wouldn't be discovered for some time as they used it as a base of operations and party spot.
"Are you okay, Sugar?"
Despite being the second smartest in the land behind the rest of BB's family, he had found himself being a bad actor. That's how he, the mind serpent, had been discovered.
"No, there's a man inside my head."
"Lighter."
BB basically charged past everyone else on the ship to find himself inspecting Sugar.
"What?"
"How my father would adore you."
"Adore me? I thought he hated you."
"Exactly, you're nothing like me."
BB had been inspecting Sugar for any head injuries. I can't let that slimy man get away. Especially if he isn't just brought upon by blunt force trauma.
"That's an odd way to put it."
"But correctly. Do you know what I was doing at your age?"
"No? Were you ever my age?"
That got an honest laugh out of Scott and Lia before they had gone back to the party. This was business and business had no place with the party.
"When I was fifteen, I was running scams out of Bangkok and living off of robberies. When I turned eighteen, I had found myself in Appalachia's backyard. There, I became a prison guard and really started my fun."
BB had a smile on his face but then he remembered that Sugar had no clue about what he was talking about. Someday, I'll give him my journal. He'll read my adventures. What a thought.
"What was that fun?"
BB turned to Scott who was giving him a death glare. That sight was speaking. If you mess this kid up it'll be hell on earth.
"I committed some crimes to get back at my father. They worked out. But remember, crime doesn't pay if you get caught."
"Isn't it-"
"That doesn't matter. Now tell me about this guy in your head. Has he spoken?"
"Yeah, he told me that it was a matter of time."
"Just a matter of time before what?"
"I don't know, that was all he said. Maybe he wants something from me."
"No."
"No?"
"He's outplayed me."
A small smirk had crossed BB's face. He was happy that his brother had outsmarted him. The only time he was upset during a battle of wits was when Dials was able to outsmart him.
"What are we going to do now?"
"I don't know, but we're going to have to do something to get him out of your soul."
"My soul?"
"Yes, he's a parasite now. See, his abilities must have jumped into your body whilst also holding his soul. He knew that we were going to travel to the day after he wrote that poem. He got that disease on purpose. That meant that he had a time machine whilst we were looking for him. He outplayed me."
That was a really smart plan of his. He planted himself inside Sugar and BB couldn't do anything about it without having his student be harmed.
"I have an idea."
Sugar had decided to show off his intellect for a little bit.
"What if instead of moping, I made a bucket list."
Scott and Lia liked the idea but not what was in tow. The nuclear option, no going back.
"Well, what do you want to do before you die?"
"I don't know yet."
BB had analyzed Sugar some more before coming to a conclusion.
"Hey, if you want to go and get some food, I'm alright with it. Though, we can drag out the time if we simply just don't use the abilities."
