The car drive back to the penthouse was silent.
I sat next to Lorenzo in the back seat, my hands were trembling in my lap.
Lorenzo's arm was around my shoulders, strong and warm. He was checking the bandage on my head after every two minutes.
"Stop fidgeting with it." I mumbled.
"It's bleeding."
"It's fine."
"It's not fine. Nothing about this is fine."
I didn't argue. I just leaned against his shoulder because sitting up straight took too much energy.
His phone buzzed. It was Marco.
"There's an update. Isabella wasn't at any of Bianca's known locations. They must have separated after the ambush. We've got teams searching the city. Both of them are our top priority."
I flinched at Isabella's name. Lorenzo's arm tightened around me.
"Keep looking. I want hourly updates."
"Understood."
He hung up.
"She was my friend." I said.
"I know."
"I trusted her."
"I know."
"How did I not see it? How did I miss that she was…"
