Encounter of Fate
9:00 AM – Tsukiji Coffee Shop
The morning sunlight filtered through the glass windows, casting soft golden lines across the café floor. The smell of roasted beans drifted through the air, warm and rich.
Kai slumped in the corner booth, chin in hand, staring at the untouched mug in front of him.
Kai:
"Mom… really? Why do we have to come here? I was finally getting into training. I get to train with the first-years today."
His mother, Ayaka, sipped her iced latte with an amused smile. Her dark hair swayed when she looked at him.
Ayaka:
"Come on, baby… don't be like that. I thought maybe you could meet a playmate your age."
Kai groaned.
Kai:
"But mom, they're just normal humans. They're boring. Plus, I wanted to teach that Gojo a lesson today. Hehehe."
Ayaka reached across the table and ruffled his hair.
Ayaka:
"What will I do, with a son like you? Just try for mommy, okay?"
Kai sighed deeply as she hit me with puppy-eyes.
Kai:
"…Fine. I'll try. But one friend is my limit."
Ayaka leaned in to kiss his cheek, proud.
Ayaka:
"That's my boy. Just don't use jujutsu in front of humans."
Kai slid out of the booth and wandered out of the café toward the small park nearby. Laughter echoed from the playground.
Kai:
"I'm an adult… why do I have to play with kids? Being reborn as a child sucks. If only I reincarnated as a teenager instead… ahh, whatever."
He muttered as he walked across the grass.
Then—
A shadow passed overhead.
Before he could look up, a figure dropped from the sky, falling fast.
Kai reacted on instinct, shifting to catch them
—but at the last second, the figure twisted mid-air with perfect rotational control.
Her upside-down green eyes met his.
She flipped, landed on one knee, and struck a perfect superhero pose.
Kai blinked twice.
Kai:
"…The superhero landing? How dramatic."
The girl stood, brushed dirt off her skirt, and walked over.
Emi:
"Sorry about that! I didn't think anyone was right under me. I'm Emi García—nice to meet you!"
Kai stared at her mixed features — a blend of Japanese softness and Argentine sharpness, bright green eyes, and flowing black hair.
Kai:
"I'm Kai Kurai… Can you teach me that thing you just did? How did you rotate like that?"
Her face lit up as if he had triggered a fireworks display inside her.
Emi:
"Yes! Yes! Come on, I'll show you! My papa usually teaches me, but I guess I can show you too!"
She grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the tall tree she had leapt from.
With fluid, trained movements, she scaled the tree like she weighed nothing. Her body control, foot placement, and balance were all precise — too precise for a normal child.
Kai froze.
Kai (inner thoughts):
'Yeah, no way a normal human kid can do that. But I can't feel any cursed energy from her. So what is this? Could it be… no. Too soon. I need more information.'
Emi demonstrated how her father taught her to rotate mid-air and redirect momentum to change direction even while falling.
With his heavenly-restriction enhanced body — speed, durability, and his talent — Kai grasped the concept in minutes.
And so they played.
Higher and higher they climbed.
Bigger jumps.
Harder falls.
Testing who could absorb more impact before landing cleanly.
Hours passed without either of them realizing, sunlight slipping toward its peak. In between jumps, Kai learned more about her.
Emi lived in Brazil with her mother, but she visited her father in Japan every few months. She spoke about her father with bright admiration, excitement filling every word.
Kai (inner thoughts):
'Her father must be someone important… but I don't remember any Emi in canon. Strange.'
Then—
A deep, commanding voice called out her name.
Kai stopped.
Emi leapt down effortlessly, rushing to the man calling her.
Kai followed her gaze upward…
…and felt his breath freeze.
A tall, intimidating figure stood by the tree line.
Broad shoulders.
Neck thick with muscle.
Baggy pants.
Classic black shirt stretched tight across sculpted abs.
Short spiky hair.
A presence sharp enough to cut steel.
Only one name came to mind.
Kai (inner thoughts):
'Toji… Fushiguro. Or— wait. At this time, he should still be Zenin. So why is Emi calling him papa? Oh no. Wait…'
Emi tackled the man's waist with a beaming smile.
Emi:
"Papa!"
Toji Zenin looked down at her, expression unreadable — then his eyes slowly lifted to Kai.
And Kai felt the weight of a monster's attention fall directly on him.
Then I felt an aura so strong it felt similar to that day.
The moment Toji's eyes locked onto Kai, something stirred in the air.
A cold, crushing aura pressed against Kai's chest.
Then—
A flash.
A memory.
Flashback
The sky was blood-red.
Fire swallowed every rooftop he once played on.
Walls collapsed.
Screams tore through the night.
Blood flowing with flames of many buildings
The smell of smoke and burning flesh clung to the air.
The place that had been his childhood—
his laughter,
his safety,
his innocence—
turned to ash.
Turned to dust.
Flashback End
Kai staggered, breath hitching.
That aura…
That exact same suffocating force.
It was coming from Toji.
POV: Toji Zenin
Toji narrowed his eyes at the boy standing before him.
Toji (thoughts):
'Who is this brat playing with my daughter? His eyes… that aura…'
His pupils dilated,
Kai's irises burning deep, predatory crimson like blood .
Toji:
"This kid… that aura is malevolent. Like those special grade disaster curse spirits ."
He studied Kai's posture, breathing, stillness and most importantly.. the crimson glowing coming from his eyes, behind his black tinned glasses—
the way his presence warped the air around him.
Toji (thoughts):
'He's what—six? Seven? And he emits THAT? A kid older than Emi by only a year… How interesting.'
A dangerous spark flickered behind his expression.
Toji:
'Could this brat be the key?..
Someone who could rival… or even expose that Gojo clan brat—
the one with both Six Eyes and Limitless.'
Then Toji felt Emi tug at his shirt.
She looked up with bright innocence—
but her voice trembled slightly, sensing the tension in her father's stance.
Emi:
"Papa… that's my best friend! He's the only one who can keep up with me. Can he train with us? Please?"
Toji's expression softened immediately.
He gazed down at her, a faint smile breaking through his hardened features.
Toji:
"My little Mi-mi… what's wrong with your old man?..Am I not fun to train with anymore?"
Emi puffed her cheeks and stuck out her tongue.
Emi:
"Noooo, silly Papa. You're too strong. You're no fun!..But Kai—hehe—Kai I can beat up! He's not too strong!"
Toji chuckled, ruffling her hair affectionately.
Then his tone shifted—
dropping into something colder, accurate, calculating.
Toji:
"Alright. I'll train both of you…
but first, I need to test him.
Gotta see if he's worthy of being around my little Mi-mi."
His gaze snapped back toward Kai.
The air tightened.
POV Switch – Kai
Kai blinked as reality snapped back into focus as my eyes lose their glow .
Toji Zenin—
The Sorcerer Killer.
The physically strongest man born without cursed energy.
Kai (thoughts):
'Wait—this is perfect. More perfect than I could've hoped.'
'Right now, he's still Toji Zenin. The Star Plasma Vessel event is a year away.
A year to train under the strongest in hand-to-hand combat.'
'If I can get close to his daughter… earn his respect…He might actually train me.'
It was an opportunity that shouldn't exist.
So Kai stepped forward.
Toji tilted his head slightly, smirk forming.
Toji:
"Hey, kid. Follow us.
I wanna see if you're worthy of my daughter."
Kai nodded without hesitation.
They walked together through side streets, alleys, and quiet back roads—
until reaching a long-abandoned school.
The gates hung off rusted hinges.
Windows were shattered.
Graffiti and old vines crawled across the walls.
But inside
Kai immediately sensed it.
Curses.
Small ones. Weak ones.
But dozens lingering, feeding off the building's neglect.
The second Kai stepped foot onto the grounds..an aura of malevolence spread from kai's body with each step all the curse spirits.
They scattered.
The weak curses fled instantly, like insects escaping fire.
Not one dared come near him.
Toji stopped walking.
Slowly… he turned to look at Kai again.
His predatory instincts sharpened.
Toji (thoughts):
'Even curses run from him?'
'Interesting… very interesting.'
A grin crept across his face.
Not kind.
Not gentle.
A hunter's grin.
Toji:
"Alright, brat.
Show me what you are."
I exhaled once, slow and calm.
Then I removed my glasses.
The moment they slipped off my face—
my eyes ignited into a sharp, bright crimson, glowing with that violent pressure Toji had felt earlier.
I stepped forward.
Then—
I vanished.
My body blurred with sudden speed as I dashed directly at Toji—
but he didn't move.
Not even an inch.
His expression didn't twitch.
His breathing didn't shift.
He simply raised one hand—
—and swung.
The pressure of the air hit me before his palm even came close, a shockwave that felt like a sledgehammer made of compressed atmosphere.
Instinct screamed.
My muscles tightened.
Curse Energy Enhancement—full body, immediate.
My speed doubled instantly.
I leaped back, avoiding the chop by a hair breathe, feeling the tremor of danger pass through my bones.
But I didn't hesitate—
I shot forward again, cutting the distance with another burst of speed.
Toji's eyes gleamed.
He shifted his center of gravity—so slight it was almost invisible.
But it was enough.
I had already lunged with a punch—
and with a simple downward hand chop, Toji struck my rib cage.
Crack.
Pain exploded through my side as my body lifted off the ground and flew back, bouncing off the dirt.
But I refused to be thrown like some rag doll.
Midair, I gritted my teeth, twisted my torso, and rotated, using the momentum to alter my trajectory—
exactly like Emi had taught me.
Toji's grin widened.
Because he was already there in front of me.
He had moved beside me midair—
no footsteps, no windup, no warning—
and threw another hand chop straight for my body.
But that tiny shift in my midair rotation changed my angle.
Just enough.
Toji noticed. He liked it.
He chopped again—
and my fist touched his chest.
A soft sound echoed—
like the ringing of invisible blades.
Then—
C L E A V E.
My voice came out calm, sharp, cutting through the abandoned schoolyard.
Curse Technique: Cleave.
Space itself split.
Toji's shirt ripped apart instantly, sliced into ribbons.
Shallow slash marks tore across his torso, deleting thin lines of flesh.
Blood beaded along the cuts, dripping slowly.
For the first time in the fight—
Toji's eyes widened.
But before I could follow up—
His counter landed.
The chop I had initially avoided—
the one I had redirected—
hit me clean.
I flew like a missile.
The world turned into a blur of dirt and sky before I slammed into a concrete wall.
The impact spider-webbed cracks across the surface, dust exploding around me.
My body screamed.
My lungs burned.
My vision dimmed.
The last thing I heard—
was laughter.
A little girl's laughter.
Emi:
"Papa! He got you!!"
Then everything faded to black.
Aftermath – POV: Toji
The playground fell into a heavy silence.ĺ
Slash marks carved across the ground, deep lines cutting through concrete and dirt.
The air still hummed with leftover cursed energy.
Toji stood amidst the destruction, Emi giggling beside him.
He ran a finger across the cuts on his torso—
blood staining his fingertip.
Toji (thoughts):
'So… it only activates when he makes physical contact with me.'
'Interesting.'
He glanced at the drops of blood on the ground.
Looked back at his chest.
The wounds were already sealing—
small slashes closing first, larger ones following slowly.
His mouth curled into a dangerous smirk.
Toji:
"That brat… he really did a number on me."
His eyes moved to the ground where Kai had fought, noting the clever movements, the instinctive adjustments, the courage to close distance even knowing death was right there.
Toji:
"His physique isn't bad. His instincts are sharp…
using my underestimation of him against me like that."
He cracked his neck.
Toji:
"Guess I'm rusty, huh?
Fine. I'll train him."
He walked in the direction he had launched Kai with that final chop.
The ground beneath his feet was cracked from the speed and force of their movements.
His smirk grew as he spotted the impact site—
A crater smashed into the old school wall, cracks stretching like spiderwebs.
Kai lay unconscious in the center.
Toji bent down, grabbed the boy by the shirt, and slung him over his shoulder effortlessly.
By the time he stood back up—
all evidence of the slashes on his torso had healed, leaving only faint scars.
Emi skipped forward, smiling brightly.
Emi:
"He passed, right Papa?
So we can train together with Kai from now on!"
