Chapter 10 - The Trap Tightens

The recorder's red light blinked like a warning siren.

Lena's lips parted, but she froze. If I speak, I damn him. If I don't, I damn myself.

Morales's stare was relentless. "We already have testimony. You're just confirming it."

Her pulse stumbled. "Testimony?"

The agent leaned back, folding his arms. "A witness. Someone close to Cross Enterprises. Someone who saw the pressure, the signatures, the coercion. We have it all on record."

The door clicked. A second figure stepped in, heels sharp against tile, Isabella Rhodes.

Lena's blood went ice cold.

"Thought I'd drop by," Isabella said sweetly, sliding into the empty chair. "Morales and I have been talking. I told him how Nathaniel strings women along, then throws them under when the board starts sniffing."

Lena gritted her teeth. "You're lying."

Isabella smirked. "Am I? Or are you finally realizing you're not Nathaniel's partner you're his scapegoat."

Morales set the pen in front of Lena again. "All it takes is one signature, Miss Voss. You put this down, you walk, Or you keep protecting him and fall with him."

Her chest tightened. Isabella leaned closer, whispering just loud enough:

"He's not coming for you, Lena. He never was."

The recorder's light blinked, demanding her answer.
