Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: The god of Death and His Stepson

In the blink of an eye, spring had turned to autumn, and three full years had passed since Hidan first stepped into this world.

The reckless, sharp-tongued brat had long since grown into a strong and handsome young man.

His height had already surpassed Konan's, the silver hair he once wore messy now neat and sharp, glinting in the moonlight like silver shiny threads.

His body was lean, filled with wiry strength, and he carried himself with the confidence of someone who had walked through blood and fire without ever slowing down.

Once, he was just an outsider. Now, the whole shinobi world knew his name.

They called him the Black and White God of Death of Konoha.

For three years, the great nations had avoided open conflict. But peace in the shinobi world was always fragile...like paper stretched thin, always threatening to tear.

Behind the surface calm, secret battles and assassinations never stopped. And in those hidden wars, Hidan thrived.

He took missions others would fear. He volunteered to hunt down enemies who never returned. And his reputation spread like wildfire.

The whispers grew into legends:

"The immortal ninja of Konoha."

"The last Uchiha survivor who awakened a cursed Mangekyō."

"A monster who cannot die, whose jutsu drinks blood and curses entire battlefields."

Among the Five Great Villages, Hidan was no longer just a name. He was a shadow in the dark, a splinter in their throats, a threat that made even hardened Kage feel restless.

Assassins came for him, but they never returned. Their blood only deepened the legend.

--

That evening, under the pale glow of the moon, Hidan took Sasuke into the deep woods.

The boy's small frame moved with silent focus.

Each night they came here...away from the noise of the village, away from eyes that might question why a child was being pushed to such extremes.

The forest was their secret dojo. The only witnesses were the whispering leaves and the faint sound of running water from the stream nearby.

"Again," Hidan ordered, arms folded, watching Sasuke form seals.

"Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!"

The boy's chakra swelled and roared to life. A massive fireball erupted from his mouth, lighting up the trees in a blazing inferno before crashing into the night sky. The flames scattered into sparks, raining down like fiery snow.

Sasuke landed on one knee, sweat beading across his brow.

Hidan gave a low whistle. "Not bad, brat. At this rate, you'll be burning down villages before you even hit puberty."

Sasuke's face was still cold, but his dark eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

But Hidan wasn't finished. "Now, the good stuff. Show me the lightning."

Sasuke nodded and formed the seals. "Chidori!"

The air around him crackled violently. Lightning shrieked like a thousand birds, glowing from Sasuke's hand as he struggled to control its raw fury. His arm trembled, but the sound was pure, sharp, deadly.

Hidan's grin widened. "Heh. Two days and you've already got it stable."

'No wonder Kakashi picked this move for you.'

"But don't get cocky. Right now, you'd stab your own leg before hitting an enemy clean."

Sasuke's face darkened at the jab. "Then teach me more."

"Ohhh, look at you. Begging like a good little stepson."

"…Stepson?" Sasuke blinked in confusion.

Hidan froze for a second. Shit, did I say that out loud? His grin returned in a flash, covering the slip. "Nothing, nothing. Just train harder before I decide to toss you into the river."

Inside though, his thoughts were far less innocent.

Damn kid. I've been 'training' your sweet mother in secret for years. That makes you half mine, doesn't it? Heh… poor bastard doesn't even know he's my inheritance project.

--

But Hidan's "lessons" didn't end with ninjutsu.

When Sasuke collapsed, gasping and exhausted, that was when Hidan's real training began. He crouched beside the boy, Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan spinning in the dark.

"You know what time it is," Hidan said with a cruel smirk.

Sasuke's eyes widened in fear. "…No."

"Yes."

"Don't—!"

"Too late. Genjutsu."

The world shattered like glass.

In an instant, Sasuke was dragged into the crimson moon world. Every night, Hidan forced him to face his deepest fears, his hatred, his despair.

He made the boy watch his family's massacre again and again, made him relive Itachi's cold gaze, made him drown in a storm of helplessness.

And every night, Sasuke clawed his way back out, a little stronger than before.

It was cruel, yes. It was merciless. But it worked.

Within these three years, Sasuke awakened the three-tomoe Sharingan, far earlier than in the "original story." His chakra surged to levels of a Chūnin at only eight years old.

His control of fire and lightning was much better than him at the same period in the anime.

And Hidan watched it all with perverse pride.

Look at him go. My little stepson, already blooming into a prodigy. If this keeps up, even that psycho Gaara won't know what hit him at the Chūnin Exams.

Heh… can't wait to watch the Sand brat's face when Sasuke runs circles around him.

--

After pulling Sasuke out of another nightmare loop, Hidan tossed him a water flask.

Sasuke drank greedily, wiping his mouth. His hands still trembled faintly.

"…Why do you do this to me?" Sasuke finally asked, voice hoarse.

Hidan's grin softened, though his eyes remained sharp. "Because hate is your fuel. And I'm your mechanic. You want to kill your brother? Then you need more than jutsu. You need hatred deep enough to swallow everything."

Sasuke's eyes narrowed. "I don't need you. I'll surpass you one day."

"Ha! That's the spirit, kid!" Hidan threw his head back, laughing. "That's exactly what I wanna hear. Nothing makes me prouder than my brat threatening to stab me in the back. That's how I know I'm raising you right."

Sasuke scowled but said nothing. Deep down, he knew Hidan's brutal methods were working.

Every day he felt the power growing inside him power born of fire, lightning, and hatred.

For that even though he didn't want to admit it...he still couldn't help but have respect for Hidan.

Later, when Sasuke had fallen asleep against a tree, Hidan leaned back, staring at the moon.

Three years already… damn. Time flies when you're corrupting kids and banging their moms.

He chuckled to himself, twirling a kunai in his fingers.

Soon, the Chūnin Exams will come. In the story I remember, Gaara nearly scared Sasuke half to death. But now? Heh. This time, it'll be different.

My little stepson is gonna wipe that sand-freak's ass all over the arena.

The silver-haired reaper closed his eyes, satisfied.

Konoha had its immortal God of Death.

And now, thanks to him, it had a growing avenger too.
