Chapter 1 - chapter 1: Are they gaining emotion?

Inside a planet 10x larger than Earth, one was seen walking through the air, face emotionless and movements fierce yet graceful.

He was solivane, walking through the air, stepping on the system like stepping stones. Making the horizon bent beneath his gaze.

He lived millions of years ago, and he has seen countless things, from the world still molten to people getting dragged into this world and then dying in the end.

But there's one thing he doesn't understand.

Why do the reincarnated become systems once they die?

He researched day and night but found no answer. Just theories that have been forged over millions of years.

The systems are also strange.

They're like a robotic cultist.

Sure, they spoke with their last life voice, but they talked to Solivane like a fanatic, praising him for every action he took.

[Mr. Solivane, You're doing great on your research, am I right?]

[Our king, I'm very glad that I lived with you for 500 years now!

[My king how about we hunt for fragments again?]

[....]

Solivane, upon seeing hundreds, if not thousands, of systems talking, ordered the systems to go back to their hosts.

"What are you all waiting for? Go on, go back."

His voice was flat, someone who'd forgotten what emotions felt like.

The systems scattered and disappeared from Solivane's sight.

He made his way into the cave. The cave's exterior, although normal, was protected with an S-ranked spell that even grand mages can't breach.

"Mr, we hadn't made any progress yet...I think it's better if we give up"

said by the green goblin that's 3 meters tall, with a clock on his hand.

Solivane barked, "If you want to give up, then you wanna get beheaded?"

The goblin cowered, knees trembling as if a gust of wind were enough to make him fall.

Solivane continued walking and then sat on his golden throne.

He then gestured for the goblin to come.

"Kairo, how many reincarnatees have died this year?"

The goblin flinched, clearly scared out of his wits.

"M-my lord...unfortunately, over 30 had died".

Solivane sighed; he knew that he couldn't help them. but he can't help but get disappointed by their research.

He stood up and began walking to the alchemist's room, where they perform their experiment.

"sizzle..." the potion that's made with thousands of fragments of god's sizzled.

He called forth one of the systems.

Flick, with a flick of his fingers, the system appeared out of nowhere.

Lighting up with a blue color.

[Mr. Solivane, is there anything I can do for you?]

He said with an almost hesitating voice, "Forgive me...even Gods have to sacrifice something"

Before the system could even respond, Solivane threw the bottle of fragments at the system.

Bzzt [W-what is happening to me]

Solivane looked at the system with a pitiful expression, not even the author had expected it.

Solivane watched as the system began to fall apart, making the earlier blue light disappear.

[We're almost at our breakthrough, my lord keep i-]

With a puff, the panel disappeared from Solivane's eyes.

He didn't show any grievance; he was used to this. This was his 856th attempt to make this work, but he just cannot do it...

"This isn't gonna work, I need more fragments."

Solivane muttered under his breath.

He rushed to go out, thinking he just needed a few more fragments.

Then he stopped mid-track.

"Ha...ha....is this even gonna work? Be real, solivane, you worked for hundreds of years now, and not a single improvement is seen?"

He rushed inside the alchemist's room again and stopped in front of the cauldron.

Without a second thought, he pushed it all.

Clang! Clang!

The sound of the cauldron falling echoed throughout the cave.

The fragments inside the cauldron, scattered throughout the rocky grounds. And then sank into the ground.

Before he could even realize what he had done, the contents were now gone. Not a single fluid inside the cauldron can be seen.

He was devastated, but he couldn't do anything.

"It'll take another hundred years to finish this..." he mumbled.

He thought for a second, and then with a spear in his hands, he set out on a journey to the dark continent.

_____

"Screech," the spider screeched while being impaled by the now bloodied spear.

He was heading towards the spider cave, where the spider queen with many fragments hides.

The screech of the spider seemed to attract his siblings. Because what lies ahead is massive amounts of spider.

"These lowly beings dared to charge at me? Well, see," Solivane scoffed.

"My horde, how do you like something to fight?"

He said while chanting an unknown spell.

He then soared through the sky with his black feathers, making himself look like a fallen angel.

BZZT BZZT BZZT BZZZT

Then came the systems, thousands of them.

They painted the sky with a now reddish color like blood on the battlefield.

Solivane raised his hands, and then thousands of systems blasted various elemental spells.

The battlefield is full of blasting sounds and the spider's screech.

Solivane smirked like a maniac.

When the dust settled, all of the spiders that ranged from low rank to intermediate level got obliterated.

The once lush and full of webs, entrance was now full of rubble and holes.

Making it look nothing like earlier.

But something's strange: a huge figure that's at least several meters tall is walking outside, clearly woken up by the clash.

SCREECH! The thing let out a bone-chilling cry.

Before solivane could even react, the thing or the spider queen lunged at him with terrifying speed and precision.

Solivane, seeing this, broke up his smug expression and dodged. But the systems that were beside him earlier got caught.

[-5 SYSTEM]

[-5 SYSTEM]

Solivane's systems etched words as if terrified.

"Tsk, fire another round."

Solivane shouted with a now angry expression.

Upon hearing their master's command, they blasted much powerful fire blast, which solivane didn't expect from his subordinates.

"Are they gaining emotion?..."
