(VALENTINO'S POV)
My arm wraps around Krystal's shoulders, pressing her into my chest while I angle my body in front of hers, trying to shield as much of her as I possibly can.
I can feel the way her chest rises and falls, fast and terrified, matching mine beat for beat.
They're all aiming at us.
Dozens of guns. Dozens of fingers ready to pull triggers.
If they open fire right now, there's no way any of us can make it out of this alive.
And if someone has to go down first…
It's not going to be her.
Not a fucking chance.
If I had the power to throw myself in front of every bullet and somehow make sure she walks out of this alive, I would do it without thinking twice.
I tighten my hold around her, pressing her head into my chest.
At least, if I'm going to die, I'll die holding the woman I love close to my heart.
