(XAVIER'S POV)
If there's anything I've learned in all my years of experience, it's to trust my instincts.
Every time I ignored that quiet little voice in my head, it came back to bite me in the ass. So now, the moment my gut starts whispering that something's off, I listen.
And right now, it won't shut the hell up.
My gaze drifts across the hall again, landing on the same table it's been stuck on for the past ten minutes.
That Katarina woman.
It's not unusual to see a new face here. Members get initiated by other members all the time. Some prefer to keep a low profile. Some bring guests. It's perfectly normal.
But there's something about her and the men she's sitting with.
The fiancé and the two others beside him, I haven't seen any of them before.
They don't mingle with the other guests. They sit too still. Talk too little. And their eyes move more than their mouths do.
There's something off about all of them.
I don't know what yet but I'll get to the bottom of it.
