(KRYSTAL'S POV)
Through the tiny oval windows, the city lights of London, stretch out below us, twinkling like a sea of fireflies. We touch down in the airport just past midnight. I press my forehead against the cool glass as the hum of the engines fade.
The staircase rolls into place, and the cabin door opens with a hiss. Everyone moves like they're on autopilot, stepping off the jet. Our men are already there, waiting with the cars.
Just as they start loading our luggage, I spot two black vans with flashing blue lights heading straight toward us.
Everyone immediately stops doing whatever they're doing. We all trade looks for a moment because none of us knows what the hell this is about.
The vans pull up, doors swing open, and uniformed officers step out. One of them walks toward us.
"Evening," he says. "I'm Officer Decker, British Border Force. You won't be able to get into your cars yet. We need to conduct secondary screenings. It's a new international security mandate."
