Erik sighed deeply, looking at David. He had spent too much time trying to advise David, but his friend was already sinking too deep into sadness and bottles of alcohol. Realizing his efforts were futile, and wanting to enjoy the night himself, Erik finally gave up.
"Fine, I'll leave you to your fate. But don't make any trouble, Vid. I'm over there," Erik said, pointing towards the crowded dance floor, before finally rejoining the crowd, leaving David alone at the bar stool with a bottle in front of him.
David continued to pour and drink, his eyes red, his focus blurred.
Not long after Erik left, an attractive, lightly dressed woman with long, wavy brown hair approached David. She smiled seductively and immediately sat down on the stool next to David.
"Why is a handsome man sitting here all alone?" she asked, her voice soft, trying to cut through the sound of the music.
