It was still raining outside and raindrops were leaking from the ceiling. Su Yao was standing on the chair and holding a towel like it can fix everything.
"Great," she muttered. "Now my roof is also crying."
A quiet voice came from behind her. "Your house makes funny noises."
Su Yao looked down and saw the little glowing girl which was still there from last night.
She was still golden and smiling.
"...You're real," Su Yao whispered. "I didn't dream this."
Yang Zi tilted her head.
"Dream? No, I fell from heaven, remember?"
"Right," Su Yao took a deep breath. "From heaven.
"Totally normal."
The girl gave a big smile.
"You are looking angry."
"I'm not angry," Su Yao replied.
"I'm just... mentally tired."
GRUMBLE
Su Yao's tummy made a noise. She hadn't eaten since last night.
Before she could move, Yang Zi was already in the kitchen and looking at random things.
"Hey! Don't touch..."
TING
The frying pan turned golden. Su Yao froze. "What did I just say?"
Yang Zi blinked. "You said don't touch. I was just tapping."
"Same thing!"
"No, poking is softer," Yang Zi said with innocence.
Su Yao just stared at her. "You're unbelievable." The girl was looking happy. "Thank you!"
This lucky morning, people started to come into the restaurant. It was the first time in weeks.
Su Yao was shocked at the line forming outside.
"What… why are they here?"
A customer said, "We saw your glowing sign! Is this place open?"
Su Yao turned and watched the restaurant's golden logo shining like a star.
"Yang Zi…" she said slowly, "Did you do that?"
Yang Zi was behind the counter and chewing a bubble. "Maybe?"
Su Yao's eye twitched.
"You turned it on?"
"No, I sneezed."
"You what?"
"Big sneeze. Little lightning. Now it glows! You're welcome." Su Yao just covered her face. "I'm either lucky or in trouble."
The cafe was full until noon. Orders were flying in, and people were laughing.
Su Yao was running here and there.
And Yang Zi? She was just sitting on the counter, swinging her legs and smiling like she owned the place.
"Kid, at least try to look busy," Su Yao said.
"I'm the lucky charm! My job is to exist." Su Yao gave her a flat look.
"Now I see why you kicked out from heaven." Yang Zi giggled.
"They said I was too shiny."
"Sure. That's probably it."
Suddenly, a customer said. "Wow, this spoon's golden!"
Su Yao turned and saw that every utensil on the table was shining like treasure. She was shocked.
"Yang Zi...!" The girl quickly raised both hands. "Not me! This time!" Su Yao looked at her.
"You breathe, and things turn gold."
Yang Zi proudly said. "Talent."
Later that night, after things calmed down, Su Yao was sitting at the counter, counting the money. Real cash. Not gold. It was the first time in a while
She looked at Yang Zi, who was half asleep on the table, drooling a little.
"...Maybe she really is lucky," Su Yao whispered.
Tap....Tap....
She looked up. Someone was standing outside the glass door. They were tall, covered, and glowing softly blue in the rain.
The figure didn't move, just stared into the restaraunt. Su Yao scared. "Hey, kid," she whispered, trying to wake Yang Zi.
"You expecting company?"
Yang Zi's golden eyes opened slowly. She looked toward the door, and her smile faded.
"No," she said softly.
"They found me."
DUN...!
Thunder crashes outside.
Su Yao turned back to the window, but the figure was already gone.
The night ended with laughter, but something from heaven just crossed the line.
