REVIEWS AND POWERSTONES PLSSS!!!!!Chapter 120: It's Time to Make the Land of Grass Great Again
Without jonin-level ability, there was absolutely no way to stop the thunder dragon even slightly.
Murasaki and the others could only watch helplessly as it slaughtered the village's civilians like killing chickens, destroying everything in the village.
People fled in despair but couldn't outrun lightning's speed. Some tried hiding in wells—the water instantly boiled. Some hid in cellars—cooked by conducted current.
Throughout the streets were charred corpses maintaining running postures. The air filled with the pungent smell of roasted meat and burning.
Most despairing was that under Yasushi's malicious control, the thunder dragon specifically attacked densely populated areas.
It deliberately shuttled through Kusagakure's most prosperous districts, even specifically backtracking to pursue survivors who'd luckily escaped the first wave.
When the thunder dragon finally exhausted its energy and dissipated, the village center was already in ruins.
Among still-smoking remnants, occasionally one could see half-melted metal implements and certain charred outlines barely recognizable as human forms.
Distant sporadic explosions transmitted—flames not yet completely extinguished devouring the last combustibles.
Yasushi hooked his finger, summoning a fourth thunder dragon. But a figure flashed nearby—Hiruko's form appeared.
He held one red-haired woman in each hand, one large and one small, both currently unconscious. Presumably these were Uzumaki Karin and her mother.
"I've got them. We can retreat."
After speaking, Hiruko immediately flashed out of Kusagakure's gate, running toward the distance.
"Fine, consider yourselves lucky."
Yasushi shrugged, canceling the Takemikazuchi technique.
The thunder dragon in the sky roared once, unwillingly disintegrating and dissipating.
The dark clouds in the sky gradually dispersed, once again revealing the bright sunlight that had been concealed. Light fell upon Murasaki and the others but couldn't warm the coldness in these people's hearts.
Watching Yasushi and company's departing backs, Murasaki opened his mouth, but his lips trembled for a long time. Ultimately he didn't speak the order to pursue.
Chase them for what? Go get killed?
Murasaki weakly gasped several breaths, waving his hand to instruct everyone to treat the injured while he himself returned to his office, heart heavy with worry.
Murasaki sat rigidly in his office for a long time. Not until the sun set westward and darkness once again shrouded Kusagakure did he finally sigh deeply and make a difficult decision.
"Have all village jonin assemble. Convene a jonin meeting." Murasaki said with lowered head.
"Yes, Leader." A voice responded from the shadows.
An ANBU shinobi quickly left. Not long after, chaotic footsteps sounded. A group entered from outside, sitting in sequence, waiting for their leader's speech.
Murasaki's gaze swept through the crowd, immediately discovering several empty seats. While his heart ached, his determination grew firmer.
"Calling everyone today is mainly to discuss the Land of Grass's future."
"The Land of Grass has always been a small nation, caught between great nations, suffering all kinds of grievances."
"This is originally a small nation's fate—nothing to say about it."
"But now, even the Land of Rain, also a small nation, can come run wild over us. Can you swallow this anger?"
"Can't swallow it!" Everyone shouted in unison.
But after shouting, immediately rational voices spoke: "Could the Leader be planning to declare war on the Land of Rain?"
"But the current Land of Rain is no longer the small nation from before. They can now even destroy Konoha. They can't be treated as a small nation anymore!"
"Yes, yes, Leader, this matter needs long-term consideration!"
"War is no small matter—absolutely cannot be impulsive!"
But another group insisted on war.
"The enemy has already bullied us—should we continue enduring?"
"Better to be shattered jade than intact tile! Even if we die in battle, we absolutely cannot suffer this humiliation!"
"So what about the Land of Rain? After destroying Konoha, didn't they suffer heavy losses? They're currently recovering too. If we don't attack while they're weak, should we wait until they've recovered to attack us?"
"The nation most wary of the Land of Rain's rise definitely isn't our Land of Grass. Why not unite with other great nations and jointly eliminate the Land of Rain?"
Murasaki's gaze swept across these jonins' faces, discovering those arguing against were all from the "Grass Flower Faction" while those insisting on war were all from the "Grass Fruit Faction."
After everyone's arguing voices calmed slightly, Murasaki raised his hand. The scene immediately quieted. Everyone silently watched their leader, waiting for him to decide.
"Our Land of Grass has always loved peace." Murasaki first spoke a meaningless opening line, then continued: "One of that Uchiha Yasushi's statements concerns me greatly."
"He said that in the future shinobi world, numbers will no longer have decisive effect. Replacing them is the quantity and strength of high-level combat power. The more and stronger the high-level combat power, the stronger the village. As long as powerful shinobi exist, even small villages can overturn and defeat the Five Great Nations."
"The Land of Rain is an obvious example."
"In terms of land area and population, the Land of Rain isn't stronger than the Land of Grass, but the Land of Rain's situation has always been better than our Land of Grass."
"Why?"
"The reason lies in high-level combat power."
"Though I don't know how strong that Nagato is, just looking at Uchiha Yasushi's terror, I know that Nagato must be even more powerful."
"From the previous Demigod Hanzo to the current Akatsuki organization leader Nagato—both are powerful forces far exceeding ordinary shinobi, the kind of powerful shinobi unafraid of large numbers surrounding them."
"That's why the Land of Rain receives preferential treatment from the Five Great Nations. Many times, things aren't done so absolutely."
"What we lack is exactly this."
"We have no high-level combat power!"
"Even I, the leader, am only somewhat stronger than ordinary jonin. If several more jonin surround me, I definitely won't be their match."
"This won't do!"
"Continuing like this, our Land of Grass will inevitably become the most bottom-tier existence among nations. Eventually being destroyed isn't impossible."
His words turned everyone present ashen-faced, breathing growing heavier.
Seeing everyone starting to worry, Murasaki passionately declared:
"Everyone, though the Land of Grass is currently weak, in the past we were once a world power, once strong."
"Now, it's time to make the Land of Grass great again!"
"I believe that no matter the cost, we must restart the Box of Ultimate Bliss!"
"Let this ultimate weapon from the Sage of Six Paths era help Kusagakure grow powerful and return to our rightful position!"
