We were surrounded. Every exit is blocked. Every path to safety is compromised. And in the shadows, I sensed the one person I thought I could trust…was not who they seemed.
So, I saw Adrian use the newly developed psychic fissure TNT explosive he told me about to make a path through the west corner, which should give us time to make our escape.
Smoke burned my throat before I even opened my eyes.
The air felt thick — too thick — and for a few disoriented seconds, I couldn't tell if the shaking in my hands was from fear or exhaustion.
The last thing I remembered was the explosion, Adrian's arm locked around me, the echo of his heartbeat through the haze.
