Koga's greatest strength lay in his ninja skills, even surpassing his ability to command Pokémon in battle.

And like any good ninja, he was naturally well-stocked with toxins.

Especially some specifically designed to attack the enemy.

What he used against Elite Four Drake was likely one of those formulas.

A blend of multiple poisons, combined in exact proportions. Anyone unfamiliar with those ratios simply wouldn't be able to create an antidote.

Unlike Pokémon, who possess a much more robust constitution and can withstand aggressive treatments even in critical condition, the human body doesn't have that same resilience.

The only way is to analyze the exact proportion of the components in the poison.

For others, this would be the most complicated and tedious part—a task that would require multiple experiments and trials to crack the formula.

With some luck, it could be resolved in a month. But with bad luck, Elite Four Drake could die before anyone figured it out.

But for Cain, this difficulty didn't exist.

The analysis function of the system he possessed excelled precisely in this kind of situation.

The simulations and deductions it could execute were much faster than any conventional experiment.

That was why he proposed to take on the diagnosis.

After hearing old Matsuda's explanation, Cain calmly pulled out a pair of white gloves and a face mask from his pocket, putting them on.

"Can I start now?" he asked, looking at both Juan and old Matsuda.

Even with the capability, it was necessary to have the approval of both before acting.

Old Matsuda nodded without hesitation, and Juan, of course, had no objection either.

Ergas, who was standing just behind, seemed like he wanted to object, but seeing both his superiors had already given the green light, he opted to stay silent.

After all, Drake was an Elite Four of the Hoenn region, and he had no authority to interfere.

With permission granted, Cain nodded.

He began by taking out his instruments one by one, then drew a small blood sample from Drake's finger.

"System, analyze the poison's composition," Cain ordered mentally, while on the outside he remained calm, skillfully examining the blood.

His movements were precise and adept.

When it came to common illnesses, a breeder didn't have many tools.

But when it came to poisons, a breeder stood above even the Joy family staff.

Old Matsuda watched Cain's actions closely, nodding repeatedly.

There wasn't a single mistake. His solid foundation as a breeder was evident.

Inside his mind, the system began working frantically. The most obvious components of the poison were identified in no time.

Water-type toxins, fire-type... a complex mixture of different poisons.

Following the system's results, Cain began pulling out the corresponding antidotes from his storage space, one after another.

Old Matsuda nodded again upon seeing the first ones he selected.

They matched the most obvious elements of the poison. He himself had identified those toxins too.

Two, three, four...

However, as time passed, old Matsuda's expression began to change.

Two or three types of poison were manageable, but when more and more components began to appear, it was a different story.

Some of the elements, old Matsuda had barely detected as possibilities, unable to confirm them.

Cain, on the other hand, identified them clearly after one or two tests, even determining their proportions.

The three of them watched Cain work, holding their breath, as if a single exhale might interfere with the process.

"How's it going, Takashi?" Juan asked upon noticing his expression.

Old Matsuda replied in a low, grave voice: "It's going very well. He's already surpassed everything we managed these past few days."

Juan was immediately surprised.

That fast!?

Barely an hour had passed, and Cain had already surpassed several days of collaborative research by experts.

Was this boy a genius?

Or a monster?

And he had almost allowed him to leave?

Ergas, who had overheard the conversation from behind, swallowed hard.

Had he just messed with someone he really shouldn't have...?

With the talent Cain had just displayed, if the true veterans of the Breeders' Guild found out, they'd probably come out of their deepest retirements.

And those elders... had some terrifying networks.

Ergas couldn't help but shudder a little.

"Is the room's camera on?" old Matsuda asked.

"Yes, it's recording," Juan replied with a nod.

"Send me the footage later. I want those old men to see it. To see if it's worth coming out of their isolation and giving this young man a proper push."

Old Matsuda's face turned extremely serious.

Juan's eyes widened. For the president of the Hoenn region to show such an expression spoke volumes of the impact he was feeling.

The "old men" Matsuda spoke of were the previous generation. Those who had once run the League. Today, all were retired, and it wasn't even known how many were still alive.

But as long as they didn't show themselves, they remained the League's hidden trump card.

That was the true background that made the League the most powerful organization in the Pokémon world.

Cain, unaware of their conversation, was completely focused on the poison before him.

And he couldn't help but acknowledge it: Koga really was something else.

Once fully deciphered, Cain would also be able to replicate it.

That way, if he ever did anything questionable, he could just blame Koga.

Not bad... not bad at all.

So as not to overly impress old Matsuda, Cain even slowed his pace a little.

"He's already entering the key part," old Matsuda commented.

Although he didn't understand how Cain could analyze so quickly, he could tell that his workflow followed a completely sound logic.

The reason for his speed must've been that, by identifying certain characteristics, he could deduce the poison without needing extensive confirmation tests.

What old Matsuda considered "the key part" were the final toxins.

Once they were identified, Drake's poison would be completely resolved.

"That fast?" Ergas muttered without thinking.

Cain frowned.

"Silence."

Juan and old Matsuda glared at him sternly, making Ergas shut up immediately.

"The air conditioning is too noisy. Turn it off," Cain instructed.

Ergas rushed to do it.

"Whose watch is that?" Cain said, still annoyed.

It was Ergas again. This time, he hurriedly covered his watch with his hand.

During that brief moment, Cain identified another component of the poison.

Only one remained—the one in the smallest proportion.

And often, those in the tiniest quantities were the deadliest.

"Stop breathing!" Cain suddenly exclaimed in a stern voice.

The three looked at him, puzzled.

Stop... breathing?

"Hold your breath!" Juan repeated, covering his mouth and nose with his hands.

Ergas followed suit.

He suspected Cain was messing with them, but had no proof.

So he had no choice but to obey.

Finally, Cain identified the last toxin. Just as he suspected, it was an extremely potent poison.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead.

Now that everything was identified, the rest would be easy.

Any breeder with a bit of skill could prepare the antidote.

Cain had no intention of making a show out of it. Besides, he had all the necessary ingredients with him, so he immediately set to work on making the antidote.
