Cain quickly arrived at the records room of the Hoenn League headquarters.

Thanks to the note signed by Juan, he encountered no obstacles.

The League's administration was much more formal, but no matter how strict it was, it couldn't prevent the system from downloading the information from within.

With just a physical touch—even a minimal brush of skin—against the central archive terminal, the system could secretly copy all the necessary information.

When Cain left the records room, he had a satisfied expression on his face.

Just as he had suspected from the beginning, the data stored in the League's base was mostly orthodox material.

It taught trainers how to raise a Pokémon from birth until it reached the Elite Four level, or even beyond.

And that was precisely what Cain needed.

If he managed to integrate that data with what he had already extracted from Team Rocket, he would have a complete Pokémon training manual in his hands.

Of course, there was also a large amount of uncommon knowledge and special techniques.

Taking advantage of the hour he had, Cain also downloaded information about Pokémon combat techniques, as well as data on training and mastering moves.

Everything would serve as reference material.

With the digital archive of his system more complete, Cain felt that the pressure bearing down on him had eased a little.

He now had everything he needed: he just lacked time.

And as long as he had enough time, the path to the future wouldn't be hard to walk.

Once he exited the space of the legendary bird Ho-Oh, the island's Porygon2 reconnected with his system.

After a quick inspection and verification, Cain transmitted several of his Pokémon to the island.

Including Kommo-o.

Even the Dragalge he had captured last time—the one he couldn't look at but could still use—was sent. With Kommo-o on the island, Cain wasn't worried it would cause trouble.

Letting it live out a peaceful retirement was enough.

The development of the island continued normally. The ecosystem and the food chain had already fully stabilized.

Now, all that remained was to patiently wait to reap the fruits.

After leaving the records room, Cain dropped by Juan's office. Once he confirmed there were no new assignments, he left without further delay.

After all, there were many things he couldn't do within those facilities, and his current plan still had pending matters to address.

He then took the private plane reserved for Chief-level researchers, heading to Leafy Town.

That's right: the exclusive plane for Chief-level researchers.

It was an aircraft specifically designated to facilitate travel for that rank. Cain had never used it until now, and had only just remembered it existed.

Since it was a private jet, its speed was very high, so in just a few hours, he was already arriving in Leafy Town.

Whenever he needed it, he could use it. Even the pilot was exclusively assigned to him.

At that moment, Leafy Town was already fully operational.

It had gained some renown within the Hoenn region, and since the local gym was founded under Cain's name, many people came hoping for a fierce and passionate battle with him.

Unfortunately, Cain had completely become an absentee leader.

As long as the gym functioned as it should, he didn't bother to intervene.

He headed straight to his home.

But upon reaching the door, his expression changed slightly.

At that moment, a head popped out from his shadow.

It was Gengar.

Cain activated his psychic power and slowly opened the door to enter.

At first glance, there were no signs of anything unusual, but the atmosphere was too quiet. Quiet to the point of being strange.

So, Cain scanned with his psychic ability, but detected nothing out of place.

He went directly to the living room.

And there, he saw a figure sitting in the center.

Gengar immediately appeared at his side, carefully watching that person.

Cain frowned.

He couldn't sense any presence with his psychic powers, and yet, his eyes clearly saw that person.

"Don't I know you? Are you here waiting for me?" asked Cain.

"Researcher Cain has returned. You've kept me waiting... I'm not sure whether to say this is the second time or the first time we've met."

"Hi, my name is Ryuto," replied the figure, standing up and turning to look directly at Cain.

Ryuto didn't hide his face, so Cain recognized him immediately.

"Do we know each other?" asked Cain, suspicious.

"Eh... strictly speaking, we almost met. For certain reasons, we couldn't meet face to face back then, but better late than never," Ryuto said with a smile, removing his black hood and revealing his face completely.

He was a young man with a fairly decent appearance: strong eyebrows, bright eyes, and a straight nose.

Good physique and good looks.

However, when he removed the hood, Cain caught a fleeting glimpse of a symbol just beneath the dark cloak.

"Team Magma?!"

Cain recognized it instantly: the symbol of Team Magma.

Immediately, a Poké Ball appeared in his hand, and at the same time, his system had already activated, ready to summon his Pokémon at any moment.

Ryuto didn't seem surprised. He merely gave a slightly awkward smile.

"Wow... so you noticed. No wonder you're a Chief-level researcher."

"Sorry, it was a rushed visit and I forgot to change clothes. I guess the old man didn't mention me either. I'd better give you a clearer introduction."

"My original name is Erick. Supposedly I'm an Advanced-level League researcher, though that doesn't matter. Right now, I'm working undercover in Team Magma, where I hold the position of fourth executive."

"And about that time we kind of met... do you remember the ruins of the Groudon Kingdom inside Mt. Chimney?"

Erick didn't hold anything back; he spilled everything at once.

"Undercover?" Cain repeated, surprised.

"Exactly. I've been at it for years... so long that sometimes I forget what my real identity is. If I weren't here telling you today, maybe I wouldn't even remember anymore," he said with an ironic smile and a dim look in his eyes.

Cain remained silent. He didn't know whether to believe him or not.

Seeing his expression, Erick sighed in resignation.

"Yeah, yeah, I know... who's going to believe something like this so easily? That old man... he forced me to come look for you. I didn't even know where you were, so I had to wait for you at your house. And look, I ended up waiting a long time."

"The old man...?" Cain asked.

"Drake, old man Drake," Erick answered, waving his hand with an expression that said, I'd better tell you before you guess.

Then he lowered his head and started rummaging through his clothes, as if searching for something.

"Ah, here it is! Look, no matter how much we talk, this is worth more than any explanation."

He then tossed a card toward Cain.

It floated in the air before reaching him, ensuring it posed no threat. Cain took it.

"Erick, Advanced-level League Researcher. Specialized in undercover missions. Directly under the command of Elite Four Drake."

Cain scanned the card with his system reader, and that was the information he received.

Afterward, Erick explained several details that only he and Drake could know, and finally, Cain was able to confirm that his identity was real.
