"It's actually Ding Yumian from the Fire Department!"
"Come on, we can't let Song Jie win again!"
"Defeat him! Don't let him get away with it!"
As soon as Ding Yumian stepped onto the stage, the crowd erupted in cheers—all in her favor.
Song Jie raised an eyebrow, slightly amused.
"So this is Ding Yumian? Luckily, she doesn't look like the one from the anime…"
In fact, the real Ding Yumian was far more stunning—more beautiful than any version he had imagined.
But beauty aside, Song Jie knew she was a dangerous opponent.
She wasn't just a Fire Element mage—he knew she had most likely awakened a second element, the Mind Element!
Psychic magic belonged to the White Element system—and it was particularly troublesome.
If Ding Yumian used psychic interference to disrupt his star track formation, he could be in serious danger.
"Keep your distance and strike first," Song Jie muttered to himself.
He knew Ding Yumian's abilities inside and out. Anyone else might have already fallen into her traps.
The referee raised his hand.
"Are both sides ready?"
Song Jie and Ding Yumian nodded.
"Just follow my lead," Ding Yumian reminded her three teammates.
They nodded in unison, full of confidence in her plan.
"Begin!"
The moment the referee's voice fell, Song Jie struck first.
Using his range advantage, he immediately targeted Ding Yumian's group with Light Magic.
But Ding Yumian's team wasn't foolish enough to stand still.
They instantly scattered to avoid being hit head-on.
At that very moment, a blinding golden light burst across the arena—
Song Jie had unleashed Glorious Flash!
"That's so underhanded!" Students in the audience had assumed Song Jie would use an offensive spell, not a blinding flash!
The light engulfed everyone. Three of Ding Yumian's teammates were caught off guard, but Ding Yumian herself remained composed.
Even as the light flared, she had already completed her own Fire Magic.
A wall of roaring flames surged up in front of her—
a Fire Wall to block Song Jie's path and prevent a sudden counterattack.
Song Jie, though briefly dazzled by his own flash, quickly recalled Ding Yumian's previous position. Without hesitation, he completed his Light Star Path and fired a Light Ray directly toward her.
Take down Ding Yumian first—then the others would crumble.
But when the golden light faded, Ding Yumian was nowhere to be seen.
A chill ran down Song Jie's spine.
"Not good!"
He immediately began constructing another Star Map.
Ding Yumian had anticipated this. The instant the flash ended, she launched a fiery counterattack.
"Fiery Fist!"
A massive, flame-wreathed fist shot through the air, trailing waves of scorching heat that warped the very air.
"Holy Shield!"
Song Jie reacted instantly, completing his defensive Light spell just in time.
The flaming fist smashed against the shimmering Holy Shield, sparks scattering across the stage—but it failed to break through his defense.
"Ground Wave! Fall!"
The Earth Mage from Ding Yumian's team seized the opportunity to cast his spell.
The ground beneath Song Jie's feet cracked open, tremors spreading outward.
But Song Jie's combat instincts were razor-sharp—he rolled aside just in time, narrowly avoiding being trapped by the earth's bindings.
His experience from countless real battles paid off yet again.
"Try this on for size!"
The Lightning Mage completed his spell, arcs of electricity dancing wildly across his hands.
"Thunder Seal! Raging Strike!"
Song Jie had barely steadied himself when lightning surged toward him. With no time to dodge, he could only counter head-on.
He raised his hand skyward—
A searing beam of light burst forth with a thunderous crack, colliding with the lightning in midair.
The explosion shattered the spell completely.
Even so, Song Jie was forced back a few steps, the shockwave stinging his skin.
As he caught his breath, Ding Yumian launched another attack.
Another Fiery Fist came barreling toward him.
"People with brains really are the hardest to deal with," Song Jie muttered, his expression calm as his fingers traced another Star Path.
This time—
Continuous Burst!
A streak of brilliant light shot forth, colliding with the incoming fire fist.
The resulting explosion scattered embers and heatwaves throughout the arena, forcing the three other mages to retreat several steps.
But before anyone could recover, Song Jie was already chanting again.
"What?!"
The spectators gasped in disbelief.
Barely a second had passed—how could he already be casting another spell?!
Even Ding Yumian's eyes widened in shock. Song Jie's casting speed was unreal!
"Fire Burst!"
She tried to fight back, hastily releasing a Fire spell to block the incoming Light Blast.
But her basic spell was no match.
Song Jie's Continuous Burst was powerful—almost as strong as a mid-level, second-tier attack spell!
Her flames were instantly overwhelmed.
The radiant blast exploded right in front of Ding Yumian, the shockwave knocking her off her feet.
Without pausing, Song Jie turned his attention to the remaining three opponents.
He released several more Continuous Bursts, timing each explosion to detonate near them.
He didn't aim directly at their bodies—only close enough for the aftershocks to send them flying.
The Wind Mage managed to retreat, but the Earth and Lightning Mages were hit squarely by the shockwave and instantly knocked unconscious.
The crowd erupted in chaos.
"What's going on with his Light Element?!"
"Isn't the Light Element supposed to be defensive?!"
"I'm Light too—why is mine so useless?!"
Students stared blankly, completely numb from shock.
When the dust settled, the Wind Mage was still struggling to stand—but Song Jie finished him off with one final burst.
Meanwhile, Ding Yumian slowly pushed herself up.
Her earlier Fire spell had blocked part of the blast, sparing her from total defeat—but she was clearly at her limit.
Song Jie looked at her calmly, his magic aura still flaring.
There was no suspense left.
They had lost.
Even with careful coordination, their strategy had collapsed under Song Jie's unexpected "surprise."
Ding Yumian sighed.
"I surrender."
She knew that if she tried to fight back, Song Jie would immediately cast again without hesitation.
The crowd fell silent. They all knew the outcome was decided.
Yet, among all the teams that faced Song Jie, Ding Yumian's group had performed the best—they had forced him to use multiple spells and consumed the most of his magic energy.
Their teamwork had been solid.
But Song Jie's raw strength and casting speed were on another level.
And now… he was only four victories away from achieving the impossible—
one versus two hundred!
