Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Respective Rivals 3

The Winter Soldiers launched their attack—swift, precise, and perfectly coordinated, as if they had been preparing for this moment all along.

John Walker moved like lightning, deftly dodging their strikes. His body was agile and his reactions sharp. With the Sonic Blade in hand, he parried and counterattacked in one seamless motion. The blade sliced through the air like a raging storm, each swing generating immense force.

The two Winter Soldiers kept changing tactics, trying to find an opening in Kamen Rider Duke's defense.

"You've got some skill," Walker said coldly, "but it's not enough."

He focused his energy, his aura flaring with power. Then, in a blur, he dashed through the enemy lines, his blade tracing elegant arcs in the air. The flashes of light were followed by bursts of sonic shockwaves that closed in on his opponents faster than they could react.

The Winter Soldiers fought back desperately, but John Walker's speed was overwhelming. His Sonic Arrows pierced through their defenses, striking their targets with pinpoint precision. Each arrow carried destructive energy that shook the battlefield.

Switching back to his Sonic Blade, Walker unleashed a relentless barrage of slashes. The air shrieked with sound as the weapon tore through it, blasting the Winter Soldiers backward under the pressure of the sonic waves.

"It's over."

"Final Strike—Sonic Burst!"

Raising his weapon high, Walker gathered every ounce of his power. The arrow in his hand gleamed with blinding light, radiating destructive force. He aimed straight at the Winter Soldiers and released it.

The Sonic Arrow streaked across the night sky and struck true. A massive shockwave erupted, engulfing the enemies in its blast. The explosion tore through the field—flames roared, smoke billowed, and the Winter Soldiers were completely annihilated.

Standing amidst the wreckage, John Walker's Kamen Rider Duke form began to fade. He surveyed the battlefield in silence before turning his gaze elsewhere.

Meanwhile, on another front, the tide of war was shifting. Loki and the Chitauri commander were deep in discussion, tension evident on their faces. They could sense the heroes' growing strength and resolve—their plans were starting to unravel. Desperate, they began preparing their final counterattack.

The Chitauri commander activated the Hive Network to coordinate their forces. Their hive-based technology allowed instantaneous communication—each soldier acting as a node in a living war machine. Their weapons and tactics synced perfectly, amplifying their collective firepower.

Loki and the commander finalized their assault strategy. Loki would use illusion and trickery to distract the Avengers, while the Chitauri army launched a coordinated offensive using the Hive formations to maximize their effectiveness.

The battle reignited in full fury. Loki's sorcery intertwined with Chitauri technology—the combination of magic and machinery overwhelming the heroes. Chitauri soldiers shared real-time data through their hive-mind, adjusting to every move the Avengers made. Plasma rifles, arm cannons, and energy grenades filled the air in a devastating rain of fire.

"Keep your eyes on the base," Loki told the commander with a grin. "It's time for the gods to make their move."

He then slipped away, his emerald cloak flickering, heading straight toward the Hulk.

"Come and get me, you big idiot! You'll never catch me!" Loki taunted loudly, immediately drawing Hulk's attention.

Enraged, the Hulk roared and charged after him, smashing through everything in his path.

Loki conjured layers of illusion, creating multiple phantom versions of himself. Hulk was trapped in a maze of mirages, surrounded by countless Lokis—each taunting, each impossible to distinguish from the real one.

Then one particularly vivid image appeared before him. With another furious roar, Hulk lunged.

Meanwhile, the real Loki darted through alleys and broken buildings, using mist and illusion to hide his trail. He led Hulk farther and farther from the main battlefield before vanishing completely.

"Where did he go?" Hulk bellowed, confused and furious, searching in vain.

Loki smiled slyly—he had succeeded in drawing Hulk away, weakening the Avengers' ranks through deception and cunning.

But he knew it was only a temporary victory. The war was far from over, and the final battle between the Avengers and the Chitauri was about to reach its climax.

He turned his gaze to a new target. "You're next," Loki murmured. "Though it's unbecoming for a god to stoop this low… I am, after all, the God of Lies and Mischief."

His wicked grin widened as he spotted Pepper Potts.

Elsewhere, Tony Stark suddenly heard Jarvis's voice."Sir, an incoming call—from Pepper Potts."

"What?" Tony's eyes widened in surprise.

"Connect it," he ordered.

A dark, mocking voice echoed through his helmet speakers."Good evening, handsome billionaire Tony Stark. Your lovely secretary is in my hands." It was Loki's voice—smooth and venomous.

"If you hurt Pepper—" Tony started to shout.

"I've noticed two different types of Iron Legion suits on the battlefield," Loki interrupted coldly. "Order your army to attack the other."

"You son of a—LOKI!" Tony roared in fury.

"Tony, help me! Please, I don't want to die! I love you! I still want to be with you… to be your wife!" Pepper's trembling voice came through the line—clearly controlled by Loki's magic.

"AAAAH!" Tony screamed, unleashing a massive repulsor blast, rage boiling over.

Loki's laughter followed. "So, what do you think, my dear superhero? How does it feel, Iron Man?"

"Jarvis," Tony said through gritted teeth, "make the Iron Legion attack the other units—and track Loki's location. I'm going after him myself."

Loki snapped his fingers, sneering. He glanced at the unconscious Pepper lying before him. "Tony Stark… consider this my gift to you. Enjoy it."

When Tony finally arrived, he instantly realized—through his armor's sensors—that the Loki in front of him was only an illusion. He prepared to strike.

"Shh." Loki raised a finger. "I may be a mirage… but my magic is very real."

"You filthy bastard!" Tony shouted furiously.

Loki smirked. "I'm only giving you a little challenge, Tony Stark. You call yourself a genius—prove it."

"You think this will stop me?" Tony said coldly, his eyes burning with restrained anger.

"Oh, Tony," Loki said mockingly, "so confident as always. Do you really think your technology and armor can conquer everything? Do you truly believe you're invincible?"

Tony paused, his voice calm but firm. "Loki, we're heroes. Our duty is to protect people—not to fight for personal gain. Pepper means everything to me, but I won't let your threats control me."

Loki chuckled darkly. "Then let's make this a battle of ideals, shall we? You chase progress, wealth, and power—but do you understand their cost? Your technology has advanced mankind, yes—but it's also brought destruction. I represent chaos, Tony. Change. I make people question what they truly believe in."

Tony's gaze hardened. "You're right—technology can be dangerous. But it also gives people hope. My goal is to create a better future, not destroy it. You talk about freedom, but what you bring is only pain and ruin."

Loki sneered. "And you think your dream is noble? Humanity is greedy, selfish, doomed to fall. I simply reflect their true nature."

Tony replied steadily, "Humans make mistakes—but we also learn, adapt, and rise above them. We have the power to choose. I believe in that potential—and I'll fight to protect it."

Loki laughed coldly. "Your ideals are naïve, Tony Stark. I'll show you humanity's real face. I'll drag them into chaos—and you, Iron Man, will be the first to fall."

He smirked again, his voice calm yet cruel.
