Chapter 9 - 9 Half-Vampire and The Headmaster

"This is...?" Mochizuki Ren murmured to himself, pressing onto his chest.

There, he notices his body slowly changing its form.

What was tough became softer and softer. The outlines of his bodies which was originally rough, soon replaced with soft curves.

Even his hands which was around his chest began to be slightly lifted as a small valley inflated at the area.

Its silhouette, now became unable to be distinguished from a man.

In a blink of an eyes, his half-black hair had grown longer, reached out to the leg—resembling the pure snow landscape, it had become white.

Finally then, her eyes turned from black into red, her figure no longer resembling the previous Mochizuki Ren, aside from the moles under her

left eye.

Rather, she looked identical to Irysis from her features—white hair, red eyes, although Irysis had darker irises.

[You have awakened Hidden Attributes: Charisma]

[Congratulations! You have turned into Half-Vampire Half-Human.]

[You have gained both traits with halved effectiveness.]

'Why did it have to be a vampire and awaken now...!'

He knew, he would eventually transform into a demon—half-demonif he managed to keep his humanity. But the timing itself was random.

As for which demon race he would transform, was entirely random as well, and unluckily, he had turned into a Half-Vampire.

At Rank 0, Vampire had the ability to change their appearance. With the half-race debuff, she could only change her gender.

Why was she so against to the idea of a Vampire? That is because Vampire race works the best with mage build, and she couldn't use magic.

The timing also couldn't be anything but worse. Everyone was around her. Half-Vampire or not, from the view of an outsider, human Mochizuki Ren had 'abandoned' his humanity like the antagonist of a story wearing stone mask in front of the protagonist to be a vampire

Whilst the Half-Vampire was cursing her fate and unluckiness, her pupils glowed in red light as she stared at the students with blank mind.

Due to the fusion of her human body and demon energy, the purple lump of energy above her deepest soul had went berserk, preoccupying most of her mind to keep it under control.

Now, the hunger took control of her body and it began moving with its instinct.

The nearest person to her was… Irysis! A pure blood vessel waiting to be preyed upon.

"A vampire! I knew something was wrong about him! He must be the spy from demon!" Alice spouted, taking out a mace.

"Is Senpai dea.." Irysis froze. Extending her trembling hand at the white-haired girl with dangerous glint.

"Irysis, careful!" Alicia called.

Then, a mana surged from within as she chanted.

Weaving her staff, a translucent wall of magic circle snapped into existence between the two just in time. The magic circle cracked from impact but it stopped the Half-Vampire's advance.

Somewhere nearby, an almost careless voice spoke.

"...Is it a he, or a she in this case...?" with nonchalant face, Nanami Akari tilted her face, taking out a pair of instrument.

And music followed from her flute as she breathed out a powerful melody.

Riding through the rhythm of harmony, colorful lights showered students, effectively strengthening them.

Amidst the distracting sounds, the Half-Vampire felt an intense bloodlust from his behind. She attempted to twist her body. But...

*Tap* *Tap* *Tap*

"Over here, you monster!" Alice announced her presence to Ren, swinging down her mace.

She was about crushed from her front by Alice and stabbed behind by Jin.

She couldn't dodge this!

"Stop," that was until a single noise rang out, small, but announced absolute presence.

The weapons stopped mid-air, and a soft music stopped ringing.

In a blink of an eyes, absolute silence controlled the situation.

At the same time, black chains of mana locked Half-Vampire's limbs preventing her from moving.

"H-headmaster..." Irysis called out to the approaching Headmaster with a trembling voice.

"Did I kill… Senpai…?" with an reluctance, she asked the Headmaster.

Obviously, Headmaster understood her situation and knew what Irysis was talking about. She merely shook his head.

"This person is indeed, Mochizuki Ren. Nor your Attraction Of Calamity sealed his fate. You don't have to worry about it. But... how? How did a Rank 0 like you survived demon transfomation without losing your rationality?"

"Is your mana control that exceptional or... there is something special going on about your constitue?… I should have done this from the beginning," in front of the struggling Half-Vampire, Headmaster clicked her staff on the ground as white transparent ripples began spreading around her.

In an instant, the ripples formed a complex magic circle, covering both the Headmaster and Ren.

The highest level of Soul Reading, the one Headmaster specifically created to enable her to read the memory of an entity's soul without harming them.

Using them, she started to travel through Ren's memory, and experience them.

"Urgh!" Headmaster's body let out a cry as her face visibly darkened.

[Your Passive Skill: Pain Resistance has increased to Level 15!]

'My pain resistance has levelled up just from viewing his memory!? This child, how did he stay sane experiencing this torture for seven days?' Headmaster widened her eyes as she understood the truth.

The irreplaceable mistake she made by 'taking too much time.'

There were many notable things that caught her attention, like his mysterious magic circuits, and the concealed part of his memory after the torture.

But first of all...

'I'm sorry... if I knew, I would have rescued you first...' she apologized to the man.

"It's pretty weird seeing someone view your memory..." at this moment, a sound rang from behind her, and it was Ren's soul.

"Huh? How are you here!?"

"I... dunno…?"

"Huh... you really are full of mystery..." saying this, Headmaster helplessly smiled at him.

But the memory reading didn't stop there.

It continued to the chapter one where he regained his memory, just where he started acting weird.

And beyond that, his childhood.

The scene where he discovered sword.

A mundane, lonely childhood spent with no one, incapable of making friends.

Cut to the part when he discovered the world of adult at a tender age.

Unconsciously invited by the experience of his previous life, he 'trained' his right hand in attempt to mimic the 'video...' he stumbled upon.

Finally, it travelled back to the orphanage—his infant body crying at the front door.

"U... Uuuu..." inside his memory, Ren was blushing red, making a strange noise.

"Couldn't... we... have fast-forwarded 'that' part...?" Ren's face wasn't thick enough to act as if nothing happened after that unsightly display to Headmaster

"Hmph! When I return, I will delete all these obnoxious site for corrupting the mind of a innocent child!" Headmaster snorted cutely, fuming with rage.

'Please don't do that...' Ren wished inwardly. Out of shame, he wanted wanted to cry but no tears came out out.

Seeing that Ren had no more memory to offers, Headmaster tried to cancel her spell, but at that moment, her spell had interacted weirdly, bringing a new image.

Ren opened his mouth wide at the new image.

The scenery of a burning kingdom.

A face of a matured white-haired girl, crying as she questioned the mastermind behind the burning kingdom—him.

The face of a mad man whose smile twisting crazily, red light tinged on his eyes.

"No... wh-, how..." Ren couldn't believe what he was seeing in front of him and began questioning Headmaster, no, the world itself.

'Doesn't reincarnator have past life memory protection...!?' as crazy as it sounded, it escaped from his conscious mind, thinking his past was safe even if the strongest being in this world was trying to peek into it.

You couldn't really blame him. In every web novel he'd ever read, the memory-reading spell always failed. How was he supposed to know he didn't have that plot armor.

He assumed that he was safe. That's why, he was able to keep his calm knowing that Headmaster would eventually read his memory.

But from another view, why would he have it? Why should someone or something protect him from someone viewing his previous life memory?

Outside Mochizuki Ren's memory world, two person was surrounded by the curious look of rescued students. Wondering what was taking Headmaster so long.

Until… they noticed the changes in the environment. The cloud started gathering, and rain pouring. Accompanied with it were the mighty strike of thunders.

Something had enraged the world.

From beyond the stormy weather—countless gigantic silhouettes began emerging one by one.

Unaware of the changes occurring in the outside world—Mochizuki Ren began viewing his past life memory with Headmaster.

This time, he was truly laid bare naked.

'A memory that doesn't belong to this world.'

As a mage who pursued the truth of the universe, Headmaster instinctively understood what she was seeing, and this have drawn her immensely.

In the monitor, countless life divergence, from the slightest butterfly effect.

A world where she died.

A world where she lived.

A world where she married the protagonist.

A world where an action from protagonist caused an eternal damnation.

Outside the memory world, the thunderstrike intensified as if to tear off the fibre of space.

[*¥om%7ne h@ve vi#%ed t*@e w#'"*o#d #(*c"&rp"(t]

A weirdly glitched out system messages rang huge centering above Mochizuki Ren and Headmaster .

*BANG*

*BANG*

Thunderstrikes increasingly got louder, threatening to destroy the barrier laid out by Headmaster and take the lives of students inside.

In a moment of panic, the students contemplated whether to stay away from Headmaster or approaches her, but in the end, they judged it was smarter to stay close to the strongest being in the world…

Unaware of the black fragments forming and condensing around her.

[D!sc08$er*f@ed @ b^)G. A55e*pt!7%g t0 T#rminate it.]

*Gruk*

Opening her eyes wide in the outsideworld, Headmaster puked out tons of blood, and noticed the tiny black hole condensing in front of her.

It was trying to suck both her and Ren—handled worngly, it would also kill the nearby students.

"Not good!"

Headmaster clapped her hand as purple walls of magic swallowed the black fragments.

The purple wall violently shook and blood started flowing from her nose, but she managed to keep it in and sent the blackhole somewhere outside the galaxy they were in.

Headmaster heaved a breath, her chest raising up and down rhythimically before stabilizing herself.

"Didn't I tell you to stop peeking my life without my consent?" Headmaster said, dominating air thickening.

The Half-Vampire girl who woke up, couldn't help but roll her eyes Headmaster's words. Even without Mochizuki Ren's sane mind, she could see the irony.

After a while, under the pressure of humanity's strongest, the clouds parted—giving back the bright sunny day.

That's when the Half-Vampire—freed from the shackles—dove to Headmaster and bit down with all her might.

At this sight, Headmaster merely smiled as she embraced the girl warmly—patting her head like a mother trying not to rush the child.

Although… she was too short to be called "mother-like.'

Leaving a bite mark on Headmaster's neck the Half-Vampire cooed satisfyingly.

As the instincts from hunger receded, Mochizuki Ren regained control of his body.

Seeing as Mochizuki Ren acting dumb as if the Half-Vampire still took control of his body, Headmaster smiled, instantly breaking her mischievous scheme. "I already know you're back, Student No. 37,777. You have a lot of explaining to do once we get back."
