Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 – I’ve Never Been One for Fighting

"Luke, don't be impulsive!"

Seeing Luke's reaction, Chen Long quickly shouted.

He'd only invited Luke to play a small cameo role, hoping to build some good connections. But somehow, things had spiraled completely out of control, and Luke had gotten dragged into trouble.

Now Chen Long felt trapped — even if he wanted to protect Luke, he couldn't.

After all, Luke had just broken one of the gang member's wrists, and there was no way Tang Third Master would let that slide.

"Brother Chen Long, don't worry. I'm not being impulsive. I'll keep it light," Luke said with a calm smile.

Light? How am I supposed to feel reassured after hearing that?! Chen Long screamed internally.

Tang Third Master, on the other hand, actually chuckled from sheer anger.

"Young people always want to play the hero. A pity — such a handsome face, and now I have to ruin it. Break him!"

At his command, three gang members charged toward Luke, steel pipes in hand.

"Someone's going to get killed! Call the cops!"

"I already did! But by the time they show up, it'll be too late!"

"Can't someone help him? We can't just watch him get beaten to death!"

"Help him? You go if you've got the guts!"

As chaos erupted around the set, the crew members panicked — no one knew what to do.

Thud!

Crack!

Thud!

In just a few crisp hits, the three thugs who had looked so menacing seconds earlier were now on the floor, clutching their arms and groaning in pain.

In that brief instant, Luke had stepped forward, swung his stick, pivoted, and struck again — a fluid series of movements.

Though he held a staff, his strikes were clearly based on sword techniques.

Unlike the fancy, choreographed moves he'd shown in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon's promotional video, today his swordsmanship was raw, efficient, and simple — a single step forward, one clean strike.

To the untrained eye, it looked plain.

But to someone like Chen Long, who knew martial arts, Luke's technique was perfect — the timing, speed, and precision all at a master's level.

He had stripped away all unnecessary flair, leaving only pure skill.

"The level of control… he's already reached a true master's realm. Those thugs rely on brute force — they can't touch him now," Chen Long thought, finally feeling relieved.

But while Chen Long could see that, Tang Third Master couldn't.

Seeing three of his men taken out so fast only made him angrier. "Send in more! No holding back — I don't care what happens!"

Six more men surrounded Luke from every angle.

Luke nudged a steel pipe off the floor with his foot and caught it midair, now holding one in each hand.

"This is ridiculous! Three against one wasn't enough, now six? Why don't you all just dogpile him?"

"Yeah! What a joke — picking on one guy like that? Shameful!"

"Luke! You got this! We're with you!"

The crew's anger turned into support, shouting to cheer Luke on.

Less than a minute later, it was over again.

All six gangsters lay sprawled on the ground, groaning in pain.

Luke grinned. "I think I can handle ten at once. Wanna give it a try?"

His tone was friendly and sincere, but it only made the black-suited men flinch.

Even if more of them jumped in, it wouldn't help. When there's no room to move, numbers don't matter — they just get in each other's way.

One of the gang members reached for his waist, but Tang Third Master calmly pressed his hand down.

"Don't pull the gun. That would change everything. We're not crossing that line."

This wasn't the old days — now every move had consequences, and crossing that boundary could get them wiped out.

Tang Third Master turned back to Luke. "You're something else, kid. I thought people like you only existed in movies."

"No offense. I was just defending myself," Luke said politely.

"But even if you're strong, can you protect your whole crew? You don't want this movie to get shut down, do you?"

"Conflicts are meant to be resolved, not deepened," Luke replied calmly.

"We make our living this way. If I just back down, how do I keep my reputation?" Tang Third Master shook his head.

"I've never been one for fighting," Luke said with a small smile, "but I do know how to end one. I have a proposal that won't make anyone lose face."

The gangsters all scoffed internally. Yeah right. You 'don't like fighting'? Tell that to our broken bones.

Tang Third Master crossed his arms. "Alright, let's hear it."

Luke walked to a nearby table, picked up a fruit knife, and pointed toward the red lantern hanging near the entrance.

"That lantern's at least fifty meters away. If I can throw this knife and hit it in one shot, that means it's fate — heaven's will — telling us to end this peacefully. You walk away with your pride intact."

"And if you miss?" Tang Third Master asked.

"If he misses, we'll pay the protection fee," Chen Long jumped in.

He'd seen enough of Luke's skill to trust him completely.

"Deal," Tang Third Master said immediately.

"Chen Long, are you serious?" one of the stunt crew whispered. "Fifty meters? I couldn't even throw that far, never mind hit it!"

"Yeah, if he actually hits it, I'll eat that lantern myself."

Even though Chen Long had faith, logically speaking, it was impossible.

A throwing knife's range was maybe five to seven meters. Anything farther required calculating gravity and trajectory.

At fifty meters, you'd have to throw it upward at an angle like a grenade — which was impossible indoors with a ceiling.

Yet Luke stood calmly in the center, taking in everyone's anxious or skeptical looks.

If only they knew that once, on a rainy night, he'd thrown three knives at once and hit three targets fifty meters away.

He turned his back to the lantern.

"What's he doing? Giving up?" people whispered.

Before anyone could react, Luke spun around sharply, using the momentum of his turn to launch the knife.

Swish!

A flash of silver — and the lantern exploded into pieces.

So fast. So precise. So powerful.

The system's master-level throwing knife skill truly defied logic.

Luke smiled faintly. "Seems like it really is heaven's will. So, Third Master, shall we call it even?"

Tang Third Master said nothing. He simply turned and walked out with his men.

Outside the bathhouse, one of his lieutenants muttered, "Heaven's will? Seriously? We're just gonna let this go?"

Tang Third Master's face darkened. "With a throw like that, his knife is deadlier than your gun. If that's not heaven's will, what is?"
