Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 – Capturing Robin!

Rob Lucci.

A member of the World Government's secret organization, CP9.

Hailed as the strongest in CP9 in 800 years.

Seven years ago, he went undercover at the Galley-La Company while investigating the whereabouts of the Pluton blueprints.

Seven years had passed without finding Pluton's schematics… but unexpectedly, he ran into the wanted Devil's Child, Nico Robin!

"Whether the Pluton blueprints truly exist remains uncertain, but Nico Robin's threat to the World Government is very real!"

In an instant, Lucci knew he couldn't just stand by.

His eyes scanned the group, taking in the appearances of Oguro and the others.

"'Young Noble Sith Oguro, huh? A rather troublesome opponent indeed."

After a moment of thought, Lucci set the wooden beams aside and went to find Barry.

"Barry, I just remembered I have something to take care of. I'll leave early today."

Though undercover, Lucci's abilities had earned him a position as one of the five foremen of Dock One.

Barry didn't object. "Alright! Handle your business quickly! We just got a shipment, so manpower's tight."

Lucci nodded and walked toward the commercial district.

...

Bruno's Tavern.

Bruno, the bartender with a horn-like hairstyle and a perpetually dazed expression, was polishing glasses.

Ding-ling!

Lucci pushed the door open and entered.

Scanning the patrons drinking inside, he approached the bar and addressed Bruno.

"Boss, has the wine I reserved arrived?"

Bruno glanced at him with a smile. "Just got in this morning. I'll show you."

The two walked into the storage room. Bruno whispered, "What's going on? Why are you here now?"

Bruno, like Lucci, was also a CP9 agent, undercover in Water 7.

Lucci handled front-line operations, Bruno managed communications.

Lucci quickly explained the situation. "I found the Devil's Child, Nico Robin! She came to Water 7 with 'young noble' Sith Oguro and his group.

She isn't our mission, but the World Government has marked her for capture. Should we check with HQ about apprehending her?"

Bruno nodded. "Understood. I'll contact Commander Spandam immediately."

After relaying the intel, Lucci casually picked up a crate of wine and left the warehouse.

Bruno, ensuring no one was around, drew his hands through the air, opening a door in midair!

The Door-Door Fruit!

This Devil Fruit ability allowed him to open a portal anywhere—a highly strategic power.

Bruno stepped through into a sealed chamber containing all CP9 equipment.

There was no other entry—without the Door-Door Fruit, one could never enter. Security maxed out.

He retrieved a Den Den Mushi and dialed Spandam.

The snail's face morphed into something sinister and lecherous.

"What is it, Bruno? Found Pluton's blueprints?"

Spandam's voice trembled with eagerness. Capturing Pluton's schematics would earn him great merit before the Five Elders and a promotion.

For seven long years, he'd kept a CP9 team undercover in Water 7 and had never given up.

Bruno replied, "No, sir. But we found the Devil's Child, Nico Robin. She's with 'young noble' Sith Oguro, bounty two hundred million berries. Should we capture her?"

"Nico Robin?"

Spandam's voice rose sharply.

Failing to find Pluton's blueprints, capturing Robin would still be a major achievement!

"Of course! The sooner, the better! She mustn't escape!"

"Yes, sir! But Robin is with Sith Oguro, and his subordinates are strong. Can we get backup?"

Recently, news had spread that one of Oguro's subordinates had defeated Spider-Man in a single move. CP9 naturally received the intel.

"Are you joking?!" Spandam roared.

Requesting backup would only make him appear weak. After seven years of failing to secure Pluton's blueprints, his reputation at HQ had already suffered. He could not afford to be underestimated again.

But he also realized that Oguro and his crew were assessed as potentially Admiral-level threats. A head-on attack would be unwise.

Suddenly, a plan hit him.

"Heh heh heh… Bruno, go find Nico Robin. Let me speak to her—trust me, she'll follow you obediently!"

Bruno was puzzled at Spandam's confidence, but he had no choice but to obey his superior.

He nodded, placed the Den Den Mushi in his pocket, and activated his Door-Door Fruit to return to the tavern.

Soon, the tavern posted a "Closed" sign, and Bruno hurried to the commercial district.

...

In the bustling commercial district, Nami bit into a skewer of Aqua-Meat.

Immediately, the tender, bouncy meat danced on her tongue.

"So good! No wonder this is a famed delicacy!" she said, eyes full of delight.

Oguro had a skewer too. Even with experience from two lives, he had never tasted anything like this.

Nami led Oguro through the city's sights, while Soi Fon and Rukia had been pulled off by Rangiku for a shopping spree.

Hanatarō Yamada once again played pack mule.

Robin, on the other hand, had chosen a café to relax and sip coffee.

Suddenly, a tall figure sat across from her.

"Ha! Persistent, aren't you?"

Nearby patrons smirked. Several had tried to approach her before, only to be rejected.

Yet here came another bold one.

To everyone's surprise, the man whispered something to her. Robin's expression changed several times before she obediently stood and followed him.

"What the hell did he say?"

"Uh… didn't hear."

"Damn! Lucky guy!"

In a hidden alley, Robin faced the towering man with suspicion.

"You're a CP9 agent, coming to 'talk' to me? What are you plotting?"

The man was Bruno, acting on Spandam's orders.

He produced a Den Den Mushi and dialed Spandam.

"Commander, I've found Nico Robin!"

He pointed the snail at Robin.

"Yo! Hello there, Nico Robin!"

Spandam's boastful voice rang out.

"My name's Spandam, but you probably know my father better—his name is Spandine!"

Robin shuddered, hatred flashing in her eyes.

Spandine—the man directly responsible for the Ohara Incident.

He had issued the Buster Call and destroyed the entire Ohara island.
