Chapter 2 - Chapter 2- Gaining trust

By the following week, the twins already settled in their roles effortlessly.lila handled Adriana calendar, mastering his routines before he even voiced then, how he liked his coffee and what time to serve it .Luna on the other hand became the office favorite with her bright smile and irresistible charm.

Adrian couldn't deny a change due to their presence. His tense mornings ran smoother, his meeting were scheduled on time and his staffs responded better with the twins around. Lila was smart, professional, decent, whereas Luna on the other hand was different she had her way of making Adrian lose control of himself in a heart beat. It wasn't obvious just the quiet laughter, a soft lean closer when asking questions, the way her perfume lingered long even after she has left the room , small glances and light brush of her hand when handing him a file.

"You two make things easier to manage around here" Adrian said after a late afternoon board meeting.

"That is what we are here for Mr cole" Luna replied with a warm, captivating smile while looking directly into Adrian's eyes as tho she wanted to snatch his soul away, "to make your life".

Lila caught the look, her stomach tightened, she felt the air between then shift "Luna" she called "we have to set up tomorrow's meeting, pls excuse us Mr Cole".

"You are excused" Adrian said dismissing them.

Luna walked down ahead towards the elevator, Lila followed with a tight jaw. "Seems you have a lot to say" Luna said looking at Lila, " you are enjoying this way too much" Lila said looking back at Luna,

"And what is that supposed to mean sis?", Luna asked with a careless smile,

"You know exactly what I mean" Lila said with a low tone " this was supposed to be about the plan , getting close to him , mastering him enough to predict him and them taking what we want from him, not whatever that was back there" Lila said with a slight frown on her face.Luna leaned casually against the elevator walls,

"Relax Lila , flirting is part of the strategy, I have studied men like that , they just need a bit of attention to give you everything you want without even realizing it" Luna said, biting her lower lips.

"He's no fool",Lila warned .

"Of course he's not",Luna admitted,"but even the smartest and toughest men have weaknesses and his weakness is me", Luna said with a faint smirk.

Lila looked at her twin sister with face full of words she opened her mouth to speak but couldn't, she hated the way her sister said it , so sure , so cold, she wanted to remind her of the risks of thrimgs go wrong but she knew he sister was not one to be talked out of something she has set her mind on it.

The next day, during a late afternoon board preparation meeting, Luna put her words into action , Adrian was seated focused ,reviewing reports when Luna leaned forward slowly,he perfume hit first,a soft , seductive scent. " You have a meeting with the finance team at ten", she said , with a soft smile, her hands brushing his as she hands him stack of paper, " I have already arranged the figures you asked for"

Adrian glanced at her with a smile that revealed so much interest, " efficient as always" he said

"I always keep to time" Luna replied.

Lila observed from a far corner of the room not quite sure if they were still on the plan or if Luna was up to something else without he knowledge, she couldn't deny the fact thatLuna was waytoo good at playing this game.

When they got to their apartment that evening, their was a shift in the atmosphere, "Luna what the hell do you think you are doing" Lila said without patience not waiting for the door to be completely shut behind them.

Luna didn't flinch, she went to the jewelry box, dropped her jewelry, then headed to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water before entering the sitting room to make herself comfortable.

"Seems you've gone deaf Luna" Lila said

"What does it look like I'm doing?" Luna replied, showing she heard Lila for the first time.

Lila took a deep breath came closer to Luna and sat close to her " you are going to far Luna" she said calmly.

" Too far?" Luna asked, raising an eyebrow, the purpose of all this is to get close to him and take back what was stolen from us Lila not to just send polite emails everyday.

"But Luna we are playing with fire, what if something goes wrong?, what If we're wrong?, what if-"

"What if nothing Lila , stop it, just stop, our father lost everything because of that company, he was disgraced and died with nothing, you think I forgot that?look Lila, I'm not here to get emotional involved," Luna continued not waiting for a reply from Lila, "we had a plan that I'm set to finish so Dont try to change my mind now" she said standing to leave

Lila watched as Luna left, she exhaled heavily, the memories swept in but revenge wasn't simple.

Over the following days, Luna continued to weave herself deeper into Adrian's orbit. She learned his routines: when he preferred silence, when he was most distracted, when his guard slipped. She greeted him in the mornings with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes but made him feel seen. She asked small questions—about the company, about his past. Little by little, she was collecting puzzle pieces, building a map of the man she planned to destroy.

And Adrian, though cautious by nature, found himself drawn in.

He wasn't used to distractions. His life had been measured and controlled for years, every move calculated. But something about Luna—the confidence, the unpredictability—unsettled him in a way he didn't fully understand. She made him feel both intrigued and exposed.

Lila noticed everything. She saw the subtle changes: the way Adrian's voice softened around Luna, how his eyes lingered on her when she left a room, how easily he let her into spaces most people couldn't enter. And with each passing day, her fear grew.

Because once Luna's trap was fully set… there would be no going back.

On Friday evening, after most employees had gone home, Lila returned to the top floor to collect a file. Through the slightly open door of Adrian's office, she saw Luna inside, alone with him. The lights were dim, a quiet stillness filling the room. Luna stood beside his desk, smiling faintly as Adrian spoke.

Lila froze.

She couldn't hear everything, but she didn't need to. She recognized the way Luna tilted her head, how her hand lingered just a little too long on the back of Adrian's chair. It wasn't part of the plan to move this fast—but Luna wasn't following the plan anymore. She was rewriting it.

And for the first time, Lila wasn't sure whether she should stop her… or protect her from the consequences.

That night, as the city lights bled into their apartment through the balcony doors, Lila lay awake staring at the ceiling while Luna calmly scrolled through her phone.

"You're getting close to him," Lila whispered.

Luna didn't look up. "That's the point."

"No," Lila said softly, her throat tight. "Not like this."

Luna finally met her gaze, her expression unreadable. "Then maybe," she said, voice low, "you should remember why we're here."

The room fell silent. And in that silence, Lila realized something terrifying—Luna wasn't just after revenge anymore. She was enjoying the chase.

And Adrian Cole had no idea that the woman he was slowly letting into his world was the very storm that might bring it all crashing down.
