Chapter 4 - chapter 4: Steps

The yue family stood in front of another large door that looked more ominous as it was red in color with black snakes drawn all over it . The snakes had all turned and looked at them when they reached the door. Zihan looked at the door curiously Wondering how snakes had been imbued into the door

" the door was made by a master craftsman who drew ruins with the nine headed snake bones which transferred its will onto the door. Unless you are from the royal family or had permission from us no one could enter they will be attacked." His father said as if he had read his mind.

The door opened on its own and zihan could feel the chaotic energy inside. The room had chaotic chi inside and it could corrupt ones dao if one does not have a strong heart. That was why it was forbidden and well guarded. Not many people knew what was inside the room.

Zihan was put down by his father he looked up at him confused.

" Everything has been prepared so what happens from here on out is on you. You are my son so do not feel pressured to get the best I will protect you even if you can't cultivate ," his father said to him with a smile and pushed him to go inside. Zihan looked at his mother who was smiling at him .

" good luck, mom will wait for you with a gift ."

Zihan smiled at his parents one more time then entered the room, the door closed automatically behind him. Since there was nobody he removed his blindfold and looked around. It was an endless void and there was a spring in the middle that looked like it was boiling. The water in the spring was red and looked more like blood than water.

Zihan saw a book by a small table next to the pool . He took and read the details. The book was an instruction for him to strip himself of everything and enter the pool he was to stay their until his body could not endure anymore or it became enjoyable. The red liquid was a collection of chaotic chi that had condensed. It had been mixed with different things that would help in forging his body.

Before one holds the dao one must hold the body , these words were written on the opposite side of the wall from where he was standing. He was able to try and interpret it as to temper the body and awaken the spark of the soul this will enable one to receive qi without collapsing . It basically physically refinement and spiritual ignition. This place was a place to forge the body and soul in preparation for cultivation as trying to cultivate directly may eventually overwhelm the soul and body which will be expensive to treat.

Zihan looked at the steps leading to the spring . It had only three steps but he could feel the power even before stepping on it

Yue zihan looked at the wording on the fist step, to step into chaos is to die, this was clearly a warning for anyone that stepping into the road may lead to death but also greater opportunity. Zihan stepped on the first step.

His body felt like lead had been added. He could feel the tearing pain on his knees as someone pushed down on him his body subconsciously moved back but he stopped himself as he had only one chance. He could feel sweat pulling on his little body and he could barely move he eventually fell to his knees but still he did not give up as his felt his muscle tearing.

From an outside perspective one could see zihan as his muscles spasm and move on their own around his body. Blood pooled around him as he moved to the next step.

Zihan looked at the wording on the next step.

To emerge reborn .

Zihan stepped into the steps and all the pain disappeared. His body started to heal on its own. He had just gotten a breather when he felt his soul being ripped out of his body. He body fell and his soul then started feeling like it was being burnt by fire. He tried to scream but no words came out. He could only endure the pain that was more than that of his body tearing .

After one minute which felt like days zihan was put back into his body. He could still feel the phantom pain in his soul but he had no Way to know.

He looked at the third step and the writing was ,

is to become a new law.

Zihan stepped on the steps and waited for the pain. He did not understand what was going on or what the law was. Zihan felt his body receive something warm and he could feel it going around his body repairing what was destroyed. He could feel his body becoming stronger but he still could not feel what was the qi.

Zihan walked towards the platform surrounding the spring and looked at the spring. He knew he had to enter but he sat down next to the pool and ate the food his father had prepared. His parents had told him not to hurry and he will take his sweet time. After finishing the food he decided to rest as his body was still one year old and needed to rest.

He wondered if it had been a real one year old they might have given up. His father sure did have faith in him. Such pure love this was , torture your kid with the excuse of them getting stronger. This is the definition of tough love.
