After Gion left, Kane Uchiha returned to his dormitory.
When he opened the door, all three of his roommates were already there he was the last to arrive.
Among them, Kane immediately recognized a familiar face: Binz, the same character who appeared in the original One Piece storyline. The other two, however, were new original to this world.
As Kane entered, all three looked surprised. None of them had expected the top scorer from the entrance exams, the academy's rising star himself, to be their roommate. They quickly stood up to greet him with genuine excitement.
Kane smiled politely and greeted them one by one. Soon, the four began the usual round of introductions.
The first to speak was a cheerful, round-faced boy with short yellow hair.
"Hey everyone! I'm Bridge, from the West Blue. I'm a Devil Fruit user the Hook-Hook Fruit! Great to meet you all!"
Kane couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. "Hook-Hook Fruit? That sounds like something straight out of a game back on Blue Star," he thought.
Next up was a rugged young man with a scruffy beard and an air of arrogance.
"My name's Grefors, also from the West Blue. I specialize in heavy firearms." He said it casually and flopped down on his bed.
Kane blinked. Is this a naval academy or a crossover from every shooter game I've ever played?
Then came Binz's turn. His voice was calm and a little stiff, but his words carried a kind sincerity.
"I'm Binz, from the North Blue. My Devil Fruit is the Bloom-Bloom Fruit. Please take care of me."
Finally, someone who felt like he actually belonged in One Piece. Kane gave a small nod, relieved.
When it was his turn, Kane stood and spoke in an even, confident tone:
"I'm Kane Uchiha, from the East Blue. I have many abilities, but my favorites involve manipulating repulsive and attractive forces. I'm not a Devil Fruit user."
That last statement caught everyone off guard.
Not a Devil Fruit user… yet he can control gravity and repulsion? the three thought almost in unison. Still, no one pried further everyone had their secrets, and they were strangers for now.
After introductions, they settled into their bunks for the night. Tomorrow would be the academy's opening ceremony and their first official training session.
The next morning, the four roommates arrived together at the massive training grounds. Dozens of new recruits were already lined up in formation.
Five minutes later, a tall, broad-shouldered man with striking purple hair walked onto the platform. His very presence commanded silence.
It was Admiral Zephyr.
His gaze swept over the rows of recruits, sharp and assessing. When his eyes landed on Kane Uchiha, they lingered briefly.
Those eyes… they must be the Rinnegan, Zephyr thought, noting his special student.
Zephyr began his speech, his voice calm but commanding.
"Welcome to the Elite Marine Training Camp. I'm your chief instructor, Zephyr. I imagine most of you have already heard my name, so I'll keep it short. Those who stand here today are the best of the best."
A quiet wave of pride rippled through the crowd. Heads lifted a little higher.
But then Zephyr's tone shifted.
"However, don't think for a second that getting here means you've achieved anything. This camp doesn't tolerate freeloaders. You'll face the harshest, most unforgiving training imaginable. If you can't handle it, you'll be expelled. Do you understand?"
"YES, SIR!" the recruits roared back, full of determination.
"Good." Zephyr nodded, pleased. "Now, let's begin. Today's lesson the Six Powers of the Navy!"
With a blur of motion, Zephyr vanished from the stage and appeared instantly before the front row.
Most of the students gasped. Only Kane and a handful of others remained unfazed.
"That was Soru," Zephyr explained. "A technique that allows the user to move at extreme speeds by stomping the ground dozens of times in an instant to generate explosive propulsion."
Then, he leapt gracefully into the air and seemed to walk upward, step by step.
"This is Geppo, or Moonwalk. Once you've mastered Soru, you'll be able to use the same principle to kick off the air itself, allowing temporary flight. But remember air doesn't offer endless support."
Zephyr suddenly raised his leg and kicked forward. A cutting wave of compressed air shot forth, striking a distant boulder. The rock split cleanly in half, the cut surface smooth as glass.
"This is Rankyaku, or Tempest Kick created by releasing vacuum blades through high-speed kicks."
The recruits watched in awe. To them, these moves looked like Devil Fruit abilities.
Zephyr landed, raised one finger, and struck toward Kane's face with blinding speed.
Kane didn't flinch. The instructor's finger stopped inches from his cheek.
"Not bad," Zephyr said with a faint smile. "You've got composure. That was Shigan, or Finger Gun a thrust that carries the power of a bullet, capable of piercing the human body."
Murmurs filled the field.
Then Zephyr crouched slightly, his muscles tightening.
"The next technique is a defensive one Tekkai, or Iron Body. It temporarily hardens the body to iron-like toughness, but it restricts movement."
Kane grinned inwardly. Ah, the famous illusion technique telling yourself, "I can tank this." Right up there with Sakura's 'I've caught up to them!' moment from back home.
Zephyr's sharp gaze suddenly turned toward him.
"You Kane Uchiha. Step forward."
Kane blinked. Did he just read my mind?
"Attack me," Zephyr said. "Let's show everyone the power of Tekkai."
Kane didn't hesitate. He entered Sage Mode, energy swirling around him, and unleashed Sage Art: Dragon Fist!
His punch struck Zephyr square in the chest.
BOOM!
The shockwave echoed through the training ground. Zephyr only trembled slightly before straightening, dusting off his jacket.
"Impressive," he said. "Even most senior trainees don't hit that hard."
But inside, Zephyr's thoughts were a storm. That power… it's already near vice admiral level and he hasn't even learned Haki yet!
He nodded, signaling Kane to continue. "Now, for the final technique Kami-e, or Paper Art."
Kane threw a controlled punch. Zephyr's body flowed like paper in the wind, bending and swaying effortlessly around the attack.
"This is Kami-e by loosening the body and letting it move freely like paper, you can evade most physical attacks," Zephyr explained while dodging smoothly.
Kane didn't use his Dragon Fist this time Sage energy would have hit even without contact, similar to Ryuo, the advanced form of Armament Haki. He wanted to cooperate with the instructor, not upstage him.
Still, Kane couldn't resist testing something. He raised his right hand, a dark vortex spinning in his palm.
"Universal Pull."
Zephyr's eyes widened. The gravitational force yanked him forward like a ragdoll.
"Wha ?!"
Unprepared and still in the relaxed state of Kami'e, Zephyr couldn't counter immediately. He switched to Tekkai just before Kane could grab him but Kane canceled the pull at that exact moment, then unleashed Almighty Push!
The explosion of force sent Zephyr flying through the air, smashing through the academy wall and disappearing in a cloud of dust.
The training field fell into stunned silence.
Kane lowered his hand, expression calm.
Well, he thought, guess that was one way to demonstrate the Six Powers.
