A faint beep… beep… echoed in the quiet hospital room.
Kirota lay on the bed, eyes still closed, his mind foggy. Finally, he opened them and stared at the white ceiling above him.
He slowly sat up, groaning a little. "Ugh… where am I?"
Across the room, Renjior sat on a chair, calmly reading a book. He looked up with a smirk.
"Oh, you're awake."
Kirota blinked. "What happened?"
"Nothing important," Renjior said casually, then reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a glowing blue ball.
"But thanks to you, we found a Ka Ball after you defeated that demon."
Kirota looked down, silent for a moment.
Renjior closed his book and stood. "You're discharged. Get dressed when you're ready."
He walked out of the room, leaving Kirota staring after him.
Kirota sighed. "Guess I'm fine then…"
He changed into his uniform and walked down the hallway. Outside, he spotted Suzuka, sitting quietly on a bench, reading her usual book.
He walked over and sat beside her.
"Hey," he said, leaning forward. "What's so special about that book? You're always reading it."
Suzuka didn't answer. She just turned another page, her expression unreadable.
Silence filled the air between them — the kind of silence that felt heavy but not uncomfortable.
Suddenly, the sound of a car screeched to a stop in front of the academy gates.
Kirota turned. A sleek black car door opened, and a girl stepped out — long black hair, elegant posture, surrounded by ten bodyguards.
Kirota's jaw dropped. "Who's… that?"
Suzuka sighed softly, closing her book.
The girl walked straight toward them, her eyes cold. "Let's go, little sister."
Kirota blinked, confused. "Wait— little sister?"
He glanced at Suzuka. She has to be rich or something…
Suzuka stood, but before she could say a word, the girl's hand struck her cheek with a sharp slap.
Kirota's eyes widened. "Hey!"
Suzuka touched her face but didn't look up.
"You've disappointed our family," the girl said sharply. "Defeated by a demon… you've brought shame to the Hokari name."
Suzuka kept her eyes down. "I'm sorry…"
The girl's expression twisted. "And you still dare speak to me?" She raised her hand again—
—but Kirota moved fast, catching her wrist mid-swing.
"Don't you think you're going a bit too far?" he said, his tone calm but serious.
The girl stared at him, shocked. "How dare you touch me, commoner? Do you even know who I am?"
Kirota blinked. "To be honest? No. Should I?"
For a moment, she was speechless. Then she flipped her hair and said proudly, "My name is Yuzuki Hokari. Don't forget it."
Kirota shrugged. "Yeah… I'll try not to."
Yuzuki turned her sharp gaze back to Suzuka, who stood silently with her head lowered.
"Let's go," she said coldly.
She turned and walked away, her bodyguards following closely behind. Suzuka followed too, without saying a word.
Kirota watched them leave, frowning. "What's with her…?"
A hand patted his shoulder suddenly, making him jump. "Gah! Don't scare me like that!"
Renjior laughed softly behind him. "If you really want to know," he said, "I can tell you."
Kirota looked down. "Yeah… I want to understand her."
Renjior smiled knowingly. "Then next time… you'll learn about Suzuka's past."
