Chapter 44 - Chapter 44 - I Won't Marry That Fool

Brooksdale's Fifth People's Hospital.

Sarah Moore stood outside, looking through the window at her brother in the intensive care unit, her emotions incredibly complex.

At noon, she received a call from her father, saying that her brother's condition had worsened. Her heart skipped a beat. She thought it was just the usual data anomalies, but didn't expect that when she rushed to the hospital, the doctor said an immediate surgery was necessary, and the surgery fee was an astronomical 700,000.

Seven hundred thousand seemed too distant for her.

Even though she was a director at Radiance Group, her salary after house loans and her brother's long-term medical expenses wasn't much.

The 300,000 in savings was still her dowry money.

Now, for her brother's health, she was willing to use those 300,000, even sell her car, but it still wasn't enough.

She had no choice but to call her second uncle, Lawrence Moore. Over the past few years, Lawrence had been doing timber processing in Brooksdale, earning quite a bit of money. He bought a luxury Benz and a 150-square-meter house; he was undoubtedly the wealthiest in the Moore family.

In fact, she didn't want to make this call because the way her second uncle's family looked at her made her very uncomfortable, as if they were above her. If she wasn't truly at the end of her rope, she'd rather borrow from someone else.

Before long, Sarah's father, Nicholas Moore, led Lawrence's family over.

As they walked, he nodded and bowed, saying, "It's really a blessing for our Jasper that you could come. Alas, I don't know what debt I owe from a past life, for Heaven to treat me like this... My only hope now is for Jasper to get through this crisis..."

When they arrived outside the ward, Nicholas hurriedly said to his daughter Sarah, "Sari, aren't you going to greet your second uncle, aunt, and Elizabeth?"

Sarah forced a smile, wiped away her tears, and said, "Second uncle, second aunt, Elizabeth... Thank you for helping us at this time; really, thank you..."

Lawrence glanced at Sarah, slightly amazed. He didn't expect Nicholas, an honest man, to have such a beautiful daughter. If she married into a wealthy family in the future, the fate of Nicholas's family might change.

His wife, Katherine Simmons, also noticed this, and softly said to Lawrence, "Last time at the dinner, didn't you joke about introducing someone to Mr. King's foolish son? What do you think about Sarah? Maybe if this marriage works out, we'll have all the Bedrock Construction contracts..."

Lawrence's eyes lit up. His wife was indeed smart.

Even though Mr. King's son was not right in the head and was always lustful, they weren't marrying off their daughter, so what was there to fear?

Having Sarah as a daughter-in-law, wouldn't Mr. King be overjoyed?

Maybe even Mr. King wouldn't resist Sarah's charm, and father and son would join forces.

If the marriage succeeded, he'd definitely be the biggest beneficiary as the matchmaker! When Mr. King was happy, his business would surely prosper!

Their daughter, Elizabeth Moore, naturally overheard her parents' plan and couldn't help but smile. As a woman, she was most jealous of those prettier than her!

Sarah had been the person she hated the most over the years! During family gatherings, if she found an opportunity, she would tirelessly boast or mock Sarah.

She looked down on Sarah's family, wondering why such a pretty daughter was born when the family was not wealthy. The key issue was dragging around a burdensome invalid.

Elizabeth feigned a glance at Ralph Campbell in the intensive care unit, sighed deeply, and said, "Your family, really, I don't know what curse you're under to have a sickly child like that. These years, your family could have lived well, but you've been dragged down by him, alas..."

Sarah was a bit angry. What did she mean by a sickly child? Just as she was about to retort, Nicholas pulled her sleeve and whispered, "Martinez't say anything. If you want to save your brother, only your second uncle might lend us money. Lower your stance a bit..."

Sarah glared at Elizabeth but said nothing more.

At this moment, Katherine Simmons walked over with a smile and said to Sarah, "Sarah, I've watched you grow up, and your brother's situation... of course, we in the Moore family will help! It's unthinkable not to at this point."

Sarah's face lit up with joy, never expecting her otherwise harsh and stingy second aunt to step up and help their family now. She exclaimed excitedly, "Second aunt, is that true? You're willing to help Jasper?"

Katherine replied earnestly, "Of course, since we're all family."

Nicholas couldn't stay calm either and hurried to Lawrence, saying, "Brother, I'm willing to do anything for you in this life. Thank you, and I'll definitely find a way to repay you."

Lawrence smiled and patted Nicholas on the shoulder, saying, "No need to repay. We might need to rely on you in the future."

Nicholas was puzzled by this and was about to ask when Katherine held Sarah's hand and said, "By the way, Sarah, you're in your early twenties. Have you found a boyfriend?"

Sarah shook her head, "I'm still young and not in a hurry to find a boyfriend."

Katherine's face brightened, almost clapping her hands in excitement, and she said, "You should look for one. Women your age are the most desirable. How about this, I'll find someone for you.

By the way, I heard that the son of Mr. King from Bedrock Construction is dating. Bedrock Construction is the leader in our industry, and your second uncle has to respect them. If you marry into the King family, not only will your brother's illness be taken care of, but our entire Moore family will rely on you!"

Upon hearing this, Nicholas immediately understood their intention.

They wanted him to sell his daughter!

Over the years, Nicholas felt that he owed this daughter the most.

Initially, Sarah was supposed to attend university, and she had excellent grades. But to make money for the family, she resolutely gave up the chance to continue her studies, working tirelessly to earn money. If he denied her the right to find happiness, he would truly be harming his daughter.

So, at this moment, Nicholas stood up and refused, "Sister-in-law, you don't need to worry about Sarah's marriage. Our Sarah will find someone on her own."

Sarah clearly understood Katherine's intention. If they took their money, it would be akin to selling herself!

Marry an unknown man for tens of thousands? Not worth it!

Her second aunt had indeed made a cunning plan!

Her face turned cold instantly, and she said unpleasantly, "Second aunt, leave my matters alone. Since that King boy is so good, why don't you have Elizabeth marry him?"

Elizabeth didn't expect Sarah to bring her into it and retorted angrily, "Sarah, what are you talking about? I won't marry that fool..."

As the words fell, Sarah and Nicholas's faces grew even darker! So Katherine had introduced a fool for her!
