Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 - No Backsies?

Sarah Moore heard the commotion behind her and knew David Johnson was back.

She turned around, did a twirl, and blinked, asking, "What do you think? Do I look beautiful in this?"

"Beautiful..."

Hearing this response, Sarah seemed quite pleased and continued humming a tune while doing her makeup.

"What's the occasion for dressing like that?"

I spoke up. He really didn't want Sarah dressing like this to attend any party or event—it would be like a feast for how many perverts!

Although I had no romantic involvement with Sarah, after spending the past few days with her, I already considered her the person I was closest to in Brooksdale.

Sarah tucked her hair behind her ear, turned around, and smiled, saying, "When a woman puts on makeup, it's certainly for shopping..."

"Who are you going shopping with?" I asked instinctively.

Sarah rolled her eyes at me and explained, "Of course with you—who else? It's Saturday, and I've finally got a day off. I thought I'd take you out shopping. Just look at what you're wearing, all sloppy. Plus, we need to get you a phone. I don't want to be unable to contact you when it matters."

I felt warmth in my heart upon hearing this. In this familiar yet unfamiliar city, only Sarah had shown concern for me.

I then looked at my own attire and felt quite content: "But I don't like shopping."

"No way, you have to go!" Sarah dashed my thoughts and added, "Actually, I'm just curious to see what you would look like all spruced up. Who knows, maybe you'd even make my heart flutter~"

I glanced at the sexy Sarah, thought for a moment, and said, "It's not impossible to get me to go, but you have to change your clothes."

"Alright."

...

An hour later, in sportswear, Sarah and I walked out of The Grandview Apartments.

Sarah had completely given up—since when do girls wear sportswear to go shopping? If it weren't for David's insistence, she would probably never wear this outfit in her life.

But fortunately, Sarah's figure was stunning; even sportswear couldn't hide her charm.

On the way, many men couldn't help but turn their heads to look at her.

Central Plaza in Brooksdale.

Sarah first took me to get a haircut, and the clean buzz cut made me look even more spirited.

With his strikingly bold eyebrows, long narrow sharp black eyes, tightly pursed thin lips, chiseled features, and a tall but not bulky build, he projected an aura of cold, aloof elegance.

"I must say, after cutting your hair, you look like a new person. If you walk around the university now, I guarantee there'll be lots of girls swarming around you."

Sarah remarked nostalgically.

Suddenly, as if something occurred to her, she poked me in the chest, gossiping, "Honestly, do you have a girlfriend? Do you want me to introduce one for you? Eldoria's corporate group has no shortage of single beauties, you know~"

I shook my head.

For the past five years, I had been on the brink of life and death, training like mad, with nothing but revenge on my mind. How could I have time for romantic relationships?

Seeing me shake my head, Sarah grew more curious, "Are you a complete virgin? Haven't you ever been in a relationship?"

My brows furrowed slightly, suddenly reminded of a past experience.

Five years ago, when the Johnson Family was still around, I had a crush on a girl.

Her name was Samantha Miller, the campus queen back then, secretly admired by countless people.

Though born into a prestigious family, I felt as insignificant as an average person and dared not confess.

Until one day, I mustered the courage to slip a love letter to Samantha, thinking it would vanish into thin air, but surprisingly, she asked me to meet on the hill behind the school the same day.

Samantha told me that if I could grab the mic from the school leaders the next morning and confess to her in front of everyone, she would consider dating me.

Naive and clueless about the world, I did just that for the sake of ridiculous love.

Disregarding the mocking faces of others, I hoped Samantha would keep her promise.

Much to my disappointment, Samantha rejected me in front of everyone, pointing at my nose and uttering a sentence.

"A loser like you dares to pursue someone like me, Samantha Miller? Thinking you can reach for the stars while being just a worthless frog. Martinez't think being backed by the Johnson Family makes you special. In the eyes of the Miller Family, you and your parents mean nothing!"

From that day on, I started to crumble, and the nickname of 'loser' spread like wildfire.

That very same day, I overheard in the restroom that everything was just a bet made by Samantha and other young lords of Brooksdale.

They wagered on how useless the Johnson's loser truly was!

And I ended up proving just how worthless I was.

To this day, I could clearly remember the derisive faces pointing at me.

I snapped out of my memories, a cold smile appearing at the corner of my mouth.

Five years ago, I might have been a total loser.

But now, what was Samantha Miller?

What was the mighty Miller Family leading the Four Great Families of Brooksdale?

One day, I would stand at the pinnacle of the world, declaring to all that I, David Johnson, had once been here.

By then, everything in Brooksdale would be nothing more than a speck of dust in my eyes!

Sarah, seeing David's face dark and bright at times, thought she'd hurt his pride and quickly apologized, "Umm... I shouldn't have said that about you. What's wrong with being a virgin? I'm still a virgin myself... Are we even now?"

I, finding Sarah's flustered look quite adorable, jokingly said, "In that case, since we have nothing to do tonight... why not gift each other our first times... and call it even?"

Sarah didn't expect David to be so daring. Her face turned red all the way to her ears, especially when she noticed a few people turning to look their way. She glared at David, "You talk too much. Wanting my first time? Only if you can pluck the stars down for me."

I raised an eyebrow and responded seriously, "No backsies?"

I knew that mastering the Supreme Realm allowed one to break through the Void and control celestial bodies.

What was plucking a star!

Of course, Sarah didn't believe David could do it and nodded vigorously:

"Fine, fine, I, Sarah Moore, keep my word. Enough of this, let's go pick a few pieces of clothing for you. Just look at the state your clothes are in—tattered, yet you wear them all day long! This is a big city after all. By the way, don't you have some sort of pharmaceutical formula? Selling a few could probably buy up this entire Central Plaza."

Despite her words, I wouldn't do such a thing.

Though I possessed countless formulas, giving them away carelessly would undoubtedly attract the prying eyes of certain entities and could disrupt the balance within Eldoria's circle.

Only by establishing power and control could I reveal those formulas. Otherwise, it would just bring trouble upon myself!

As for that low-level Youthful Appearance Pill formula, it wasn't anything precious, merely effective for beauty companies.
