Chapter 101: Sabaody Archipelago: Battle with Akainu, Part 2

After seven or eight rounds of bombardment, Akainu was left with some smoke and soot from the exploding shells. Though he had no visible wounds, he still appeared rather disheveled.

The navy warship finally approached the Fearless Eternity, but before it could enter the navy's firing range, Eric , Esdeath, and Scáthach were launched onto the root of the Yarukiman Mangrove 27GR nearby by Kurumi using her First Bullet to accelerate them.

The Fearless Eternity also began pulling away from the shore, increasing the distance between itself and the navy warship.

Standing on the shore, Eric extended a single index finger and, using a speaker system like those used by middle-aged women dancing in public squares, shouted across several hundred meters toward Akainu: "Akainu! Come at me if you dare!"

"Oh no! A mere pirate dares to be this arrogant?" Akainu was boiling with rage and wanted to burn Eric to ashes on the spot.

As an admiral, Akainu naturally knew how to use Moonwalk, one of the six forms of the navy. He immediately launched into the air with powerful kicks, sprinting through the sky toward the Sabaody Archipelago.

But he clearly forgot that without his protection, the navy warship was just a massive, defenseless target in front of the Fearless Eternity.

Of course, he didn't care about the lives of the marines onboard. He followed the doctrine of "absolute justice," with a strict and ruthless demeanor that left no room for mercy. In his eyes, eliminating pirates was always more important than saving marines.

Just as Akainu left and was still midair, the warship behind him was hit by three high-explosive shells. The massive wooden navy sailing ship was blown into several pieces on the spot. The terrifying shockwave hurled hundreds of marines into the sky like dumplings, screaming as they fell into the sea.

It's really something how resilient people are in the pirate world. Marines just fifteen meters from the explosion weren't torn apart by the blast but were instead launched into the air, screaming all the way.

Akainu, of course, turned a deaf ear to their cries for help. His one and only goal was to execute Eric , who had dared to challenge the justice of the navy!

Naturally, Da Vinci wasn't going to let Akainu reach the ground so easily. The already-charged electromagnetic railgun fired toward the airborne Akainu, but without Haki coating, the shells couldn't strike his real body and merely exploded into red-hot lava in the air.

"Plop, plop—"

"Ssshh—"

The sound of viscous liquid dropping to the ground. Lava landed on the roots of the Yarukiman Mangrove. The high temperature instantly evaporated the natural resin and ignited the green grass below.

Seeing the lava chunks scattered on the ground, Eric couldn't help but say, "This reminds me of blowing up poop with firecrackers when I was a kid…"

A large clump of lava slowly gathered into Akainu's form. Upon hearing that, he froze and spoke in a hoarse, menacing voice, "Say that again?"

"Like when my buddy used firecrackers to blow up poop," Eric obediently repeated what he said, even adding, "It was a long one, with four or five pops…"

The already bright-red lava seemed to turn darker, emitting black smoke as if seasoning had been added—visibly manifesting Akainu's rage.

"I am magma, magma that incinerates all!" As one of the navy's strongest forces, an admiral called a monster even back in training camp, he had never been compared to poop before.

"But it really does look like it," Eric said with a perfectly innocent expression. "I still remember my buddy blowing up some hot, runny poop. He got it all over himself and had to run home to shower."

(Don't go blowing up septic tanks or manholes! Very important!)

The sound of a mental snap echoed in the ears of the three—three sharp breaks in a row.

"I'll burn you to ashes!" Akainu transformed entirely into magma and charged at Eric in fury, leaving a trail of dripping lava behind him.

"Look at that, dripping all the way like stepping in poop." Eric 's taunts were relentless.

"Die! Great Eruption!" Akainu threw a punch forward. The magma-formed fist stretched out far ahead and kept expanding in size, growing hundreds of times in both length and width.

Esdeath and Scáthach had already dodged to the left and right, leaving Eric alone in the middle to face a massive magma fist several dozen meters wide.

Eric wasn't afraid. Just before the punch landed, he used his Thunderclap teleportation ability to dodge, appearing directly above the fist so Akainu could clearly see him.

The massive dark-red fist began to swell again, with yellow magma coating its surface.

"Boom boom boom…" The enormous magma fist exploded into chunks, and the red magma splattered in all directions. This Great Eruption's explosion had a lower altitude, reducing its area of effect.

Fortunately, the local civilians had already evacuated after seeing Eric 's ship attack the navy, so there were no additional casualties in 27GR.

Though Eric was above the explosion and caught in the magma meteor shower, his combination of Thunderclap's teleportation and Observation Haki, which allowed him to foresee attack trajectories, made it impossible for the magma to touch him.

Akainu saw all this and muttered, "So it's true, he really does have the Thunderclap Fruit…"

"Don't focus all your attention on Eric , watch out!" Esdeath rapidly closed in from Akainu's right side, hugging the ground, while Scáthach approached from the left. They launched a pincer attack.

With Haki-coated rapier and magic spear, they carved a large gash into Akainu's right shoulder and blew a circular hole through his left.

"You used Haki… but you were too slow," Akainu said, the damaged parts of his body rapidly reforming with magma.

'Esdeath really has a bad habit of warning enemies ahead of time,' Eric fumed internally, itching to spank her on the spot.

"This is the only way to fight! Otherwise, there's no thrill in battling a powerful enemy." Far from being discouraged by the failed attack, Esdeath's fighting spirit only grew.

"What a pity. If you were a marine, I could have trained you to be the next navy admiral. But since you're a pirate and even killed a Celestial Dragon, I have no choice but to execute you here. Such a shame."

Akainu sensed the military aura from Esdeath and had even recently read about her acts on the Sabaody Archipelago—ruthlessly eliminating slave traders and pirate crews—which he had greatly admired.

Unfortunately, she had joined Eric 's pirate crew. 'A fine woman, why must she side with the criminals?' The thought naturally occurred to Akainu.

"Frosthorn Lance!" A massive ice spear shot toward Akainu.

"Hmph," Akainu scoffed disdainfully. His right hand turned into magma again and struck the giant ice spear.

"Ssshh—" The tip of the ice spear visibly melted and evaporated.

"Your ice is far inferior to Aokiji's! You're a hundred years too early to hurt me!" Akainu's left arm also turned to magma, and he threw one magma punch after another toward Esdeath.

"Ice Wall!" A wall composed of over a dozen layers of ice appeared out of thin air, blocking the incoming magma fists. The lava melted the ice, leaving deep pits in its wake.

"Watch the spears!" Scáthach swung her twin spears at high speed, launching a flurry of rapid attacks at Akainu.

Eric couldn't help but rant: "Why do you all keep warning your enemies first…? Then again, I'm just standing here watching, so maybe I have no right to complain…"

"Ten Million Volts: Discharge!"
