Chapter 4 - The First Training and Bonds

The morning sun filtered through the leaves, casting delicate patterns across the forest floor. Kazuki stretched, every muscle tingling with potential, aware of the latent strength coursing just beneath his skin. His Toji-level body was impressive even in adolescence, but every movement reminded him he was still young, still learning, still fragile in his own way.

He inhaled deeply, tasting the crisp air mixed with faint traces of cursed energy. It hummed softly around him, whispering possibilities.

I'm alive… again. And I won't waste it.

Scene 1: First Training

Kazuki knelt by a small clearing, hands hovering over a patch of dirt. He focused on the faint sparks of cursed energy lingering in his fingertips. Slowly, he guided them, feeling the flow move like water through channels only he could sense. Small tendrils of light curled around his fingers, flickering before vanishing.

Not enough to strike, not enough to fight, but enough to remind him of potential.

He tried again, extending the flow to a nearby branch. The wood shivered slightly, almost responding, but nothing broke. A sigh escaped him. "Patience," he muttered. "I need to feel it… not force it."

Hours passed. Each time he trained, he learned a little more about his body, his cursed energy, and the strange sensation of Full Counter coiling faintly in his core. It was a whisper of power, not yet a roar, but he could feel it waiting.

By midday, a slight scrape on his arm reminded him of the cost of misjudgment. He let a faint stream of energy flow into it, watching as the redness faded. The Reverse Cursed Technique was subtle, gentle, almost humbling. Even healing takes control, he thought.

Scene 2: Emotional Reflection

Sitting by a river that wound lazily through the forest, Kazuki gazed at his reflection in the water. The boy staring back at him was small, hair dark and tangled, eyes wide with a mixture of fear, wonder, and determination.

He thought of his old life—the friends he had failed, the mistakes that haunted him, the moments he had let slip. A lump rose in his throat.

I can't fix the past… but I can shape the future.

Tears burned his eyes, though he didn't move to wipe them. They weren't just sorrow—they were hope, frustration, and determination wrapped together. For the first time in this new life, he felt the weight of responsibility, and also the thrill of potential.

Scene 3: First Canon Character Encounter

As Kazuki packed up to continue training, he noticed movement from the path ahead. A young sorcerer—slightly older, carrying himself with easy confidence—paused mid-step, noticing Kazuki.

"You're… unusual," the boy said, voice curious, not hostile. "I can feel your cursed energy. It's… different."

Kazuki's heart skipped. Not everyone is dangerous, but not everyone is friendly either. He straightened, trying to appear calm. "I'm… just training," he said, keeping his tone even.

The boy tilted his head, a small smile forming. "Well, your energy is impressive, even if it's uncontrolled. Be careful. This forest… low-grade curses are everywhere."

Kazuki nodded, grateful but cautious. He could feel the boy's aura was strong, skilled, but not overwhelming. A potential ally—or a mentor, perhaps, in time.

Scene 4: First Slightly Higher-Level Curse

By afternoon, a ripple in the cursed energy drew Kazuki's attention. His heart pounded. A medium-grade cursed spirit emerged from the shadows, larger and more grotesque than the small one he had seen before. Its aura pressed against his chest like a physical weight.

He clenched his fists, muscles tensing. His body reacted instinctively—dodging, pivoting, and rolling. Sparks of cursed energy twined around his fingers, just enough to nudge the creature back.

It struck again, faster this time. Kazuki tried to reflect, feeling the faint pulse of Full Counter in his core. Not enough to overpower it, but enough to redirect a small portion of its attack. He stumbled back, heart racing, lungs burning.

I'm not ready… not yet.

But even in fear, there was excitement. Every step, every dodge, every tentative use of his powers was a lesson. He could survive, and he could learn.

Scene 5: Evening Reflection

As dusk fell, Kazuki sat on a hill overlooking the village, the wind brushing his face. His muscles ached, his body trembled, but his mind was alive with possibilities.

Today I survived. Today I learned. Today, I began.

He closed his eyes, letting the faint currents of cursed energy flow through him. Each spark, each flicker, was a promise. Full Counter. Reverse Cursed Technique. Toji-level body. Each would grow with him, just as he would grow into himself.

The stars appeared, small and distant, yet steady. Kazuki whispered into the wind:

"I will master this… all of it. And I will protect those I can. One day, no curse will stand in my way."

The journey was far from over. It would take years, trials, failures, and victories. But for the first time, Kazuki felt something he had not felt since his old life ended: hope. Resolve. Life.

And with that, he stood, stretching his body under the night sky. The long, slow climb toward power, mastery, and destiny had begun.
