Chapter 3 - Way of the world

Women in this world have powers, and when they awaken them, they're called Espers. Naturally, women are born stronger, taller, and more muscular than men. Or at least they would develop more muscle than men when they grow. Not to the point of being bodybuilders or anything of that sort.

Although they are born stronger than men, they are not born with their powers. For the first seven years of their life, they are normal humans. However, when they turn 8, women undergo their first Esper transformation.

They develop basic Esper abilities that all women have. Enhanced strength, speed, stamina, senses, durability, thinking, and so on. They basically become a bit stronger than peak human. After that, on their 13th birthday, that's when they undergo their second evolution.

During their second evolution, they develop their powers. Their ability can be basic, unique, special, or unorthodox. Some people have the same powers, others have similar powers, while some have special powers that no other person has.

Your bloodline can play a role in the type of powers you get, but just like genetics, it can be random as well.

"Mom had a power. It was superspeed. She was so cool." Jin smiled, looking at a picture of his mother, father, and a younger version of himself playing together at a park.

"Don't worry, I'll avenge your deaths." Jin grabbed the shopping list off the fridge and left the house.

When he regained his memories, Jin realized all his power was gone. Normally, his true body held the strength from countless reincarnations, remaining in the void with the supreme beings.

But when he escaped, he destroyed his real body, losing all that power for good. However, he still had all of his memories and the knowledge to get all of his power back. So, after settling down with Anyssa and Brittany, he started working toward that.

"I'd say I have about 20 percent of my strength back. Not as powerful as I want to be, but powerful enough. It would be hard for an average Vanguard to stop me."

Jin walked to the train station and boarded a car bound for a destination. He loved how this world's technology far surpassed Earth's. Travel between inner planets was normal, with just a bit of planning.

As he thought about what he planned on doing, he suddenly felt someone grab his butt.

"What's a handsome young man like you doing here all by yourself. If you want, I can take you back home after a slight detour." A woman whispered in his ear.

Ugh. What is this? Am I being flirted with or harassed? Is this what women on Earth have to deal with? Well, it's my fault for not taking the all-male car.'

He removed her hand from his behind because he was not into that stuff.

"Sorry, I'm busy today. But here, put your number in my phone, I'll call you later." He smiled.

The woman was slightly taken aback. She didn't expect Jin to respond that way. But hey, she wasn't gonna complain. She saw this as a win.

"Sure, here." She typed in her number. "Don't forget to call me."

"Don't worry, I wont." The train stopped, and Jin got off, waving his hand at the woman. The train then left, and Jin went on his way, deleting her number the moment he stepped off.

"Heh, that's how you flirt with a man, take notes." She said, with a wide grin on her face.

Jin walked through the streets to a specific location, his phone in hand as he looked at an article that dated back to the day he lost his parents.

The rosepetal gang. Those were the people who took his parents' lives, and he planned on returning the favor. Their leader was a woman named Erosa.

She was a former vanguard turned criminal after learning how thrilling that life was. She had been committing crimes before Jin was even born.

Recently, most of her gang were caught, so she had to keep a low profile for the past few years.

"There it is, their hideout." Jin eyed the building Erosa and her gang had made as their base and frowned. It was a walk-in clinic that helped people with minor injuries, sicknesses, and even served as a vet.

However, all of this was a front. They have no business, and all of the people who went into the clinic were actually smuggling weapons, drugs, and men. It took Jin months to find this out.

Jin placed his hand on the ground and closed his eyes, sending a stream of mana through the earth into the building, revealing in his mind how many people were inside.

"Thirty people." Then something else caught his eye. "And ten prisoners, most likely the men she trafficked. So, twenty people to fight. Alright, let's do this."

Jin pulled on a mask, drew his hood over his head, and entered the clinic. He was greeted by a few people: a woman sitting in the waiting area, another in uniform, and a third with a clipboard, posing as if taking inventory. All of them eyed him warily.

"Hello, how may I help you today?" A man asked with a smile.

"Yeah, I'm looking for some medicine. I think I have a cold." He couged to play the part, even making his voice sound strained.

"Got it, we should have some cold medicine in this cabinet." The man turned around to check the cabinets.

Jin flicked his fingers, and a needle of mana dug into the man's neck, killing him instantly as it ripped through his neck bone.

"What the heck?!" Jin shouted.

"What happened?!" The staff woman stormed over to see what the commotion was about.

"I-I don't know?! He was getting my medicine and just collapsed. We need to call the police!" He fake panicked

"No! Don't call the police! They won't arrive in time. My ability can heal people. Carla, go check the other room for some medicine."

The woman with the clipboard ran into the other room.

As the staff woman checked on the man, the woman sitting in the chair walked over to Jin.

"Come, you shouldn't be too close when Espers are doing their thing. Sit here and wait. I know this must be scary for you as well."

"Y-Yes, thank you." Jin sat down, but as he did, he hugged the woman. "This is scary."

"It's okay, don't worry, everything will be fi-" She felt something stab her in the neck. Slowly, she turned to Jin, seeing an emotionless expression on his face instead of the scared one he had just had.

"Y-You mother-" She dropped dead.

"What was that?!" The staff member shouted, standing over the counter as she saw one of her companions lying dead. Realizing Jin was behind it, she tried to call her boss—but for some reason, she couldn't move.

"Don't bother, I've bound your body with my power. You won't be able to move unless I want you to." Jin smirked

"Y-You're a man! H-How do you have powers?!"

"That's the thing, I don't." A needle flew into her neck, killing her as well.

Just then, the other woman came back. "I've got the medicine you've-eughh!"

Jin ignored the last woman entirely, tossing a needle into her throat as he made his way to the elevator. He stepped in and pressed the red button—normally for emergencies, but actually the trigger for the secret underground room.

"Erosa, I'm coming for you."
