He was sleeping.
Far in a world that looked empty, having him as the only occupant, cos in this space was silence, darkness and pain.
Marcus heart was hollow.
Though his body shrunk, his mind was unscathed, and his memory, intact. Life had never been unkind to him.
Whatever he wanted, he got. He only had to think it. He called his life a luxury, and that was what it was.
His father was a Billionaire, but he had built BlueBird from scratch. Quite a number of CEOs had begun loosing so much money , that they were at risk of shutting down. A rare kind of virus was eating up valuable data and Marcus saw a problem he knew only he could solve.
So at 19, he became a wealthy tech Guru and five years later, BlueBird topped Forbes list in the tech industry in NewYork. Marcus lived in a different realm of life that attracted power and influence, and with it, came arrogance, a kind that had no consequence...
Marcus felt something so tender, it interrupted the flow of his thoughts. He didn't know if it was in this empty space where he found peace enough to re-capture the precious bits and pieces of a life that gave him everything, or in a room, where he laid helpless and looked nothing like Marcus Thompson, George's Thompson's arrogant and revered son.
Another touch that was more intense than the first, made his eyes twitch beneath a beam of bright light just above him.
"Mr Marcus, you may need to sit up to take your drugs. This is the most important one for the night." He heard Lyn say. Her arms swung around him, though he winced in pain, he felt the soft loveliness of her skin that did stir something in him, but he knew what it was—bait for a hungry prey.
Marcus smiled as he sat on his bed, still squinting his eyes against her glare. Her hands moved slowly from his arms to his lips, brushing them quickly. Her eyes watching his face for any sign of interest.
Unfortunately for Lyn, Marcus was not hungry.
Not any longer.
His arrogance wasn't the only thing this accident took away from him, his addiction to scandal and sensual crass on women, that made him treat them like trash, was another.
He had relished them, listing them on after another, and striking them off on his to-do list as an accomplished goal, but now, he's lost his taste for trash.
He saw passion burn in Lyn's eyes and wondered how long it took her to get this close with him.
"Mr Marcus." Lyn continued, rolling her eyes smugly, and leaning towards him with full eagerness, unwillingly to accept defeat, and determined to have her way.
This was Marcus' most vulnerable moment. She thought dryly.
The pain this accident had caused, must have starved him of something only women like her could fufill.
She had heard too, that he loved them very beautiful and voluptuous.
She was exactly what he needed now.
His medicines could come later.
"I'll be gentle on your lips Marcus. Try me."
Very quickly, before he could protest, Lyn savored his lips, softly, she was sure not to loose control, to make him need more later. She was still his nurse, but she was more than happy to flirt with this CEO, every girl in Baltimore, longed to sleep with.
Parting her lips from him, she gave a brittle laugh that echoed in the room.
Marcus eyes squeezed weakly.
"Is this what you do with your male patients?" Marcus said, giving her a sardonic smile.
"It is what l have been wanting todo with you MarcusThompson." She fell lightly against his chest and gazed up at him with parted lips.
"And please, don't act like you don't want it. You do worse with the women in NewYork." Lyn, looked from him to the tray where his medicines were arranged.
"It's going to be a long night Marcus. The pains should go with the morning." Her mouth curved into a cold smile, as if nothing had just happened.
He swallowed his drug quickly. His throat felt sore.
Marcus' mouth tightened, but he held his temper, amazed at Lyn's crassness. He had never seen her type before.
Her kiss tasted like dust in his mouth. Accessing her through narrowed eyes, he forced himself to remember how sweet it was to control women, and have them beg for his attention. He knew it was wrong, but he didn't care.
Tables were turned now, and he could see himself through the lens of a woman.
Lyn was in charge. Fully in control of what she did to him.
"Have you thought of getting fired for what you just did?—taking advantage of a patient you are supposed to care for, to health?
The room fell silent.
Lyn hummed happily, pacing the room peacefully and getting another set of drugs ready.
She was at a happy place, but was very careful not to laugh ruefully.
Marcus Thompson might be bandaged, but he still had a temper which she musn't arouse carelessly. Her goal tonight was accomplished. She'd continue tomorrow bit by bit till he begged for her attention.
Awell thought out plan, she murmured breathlessly.
"You may need to get some fresh air outside and stretch your unused muscles Marcus. There's a garden close to the quandrangle, not too far from the car park." She finished with a tone of triumph.
"Press the bell if you need me Marcus." Lyn said quietly, opening the door.
Just then, the intercom rang. Marcus answered.
"Send them in!" Marcus voice was firm.
And within seconds, two hunky security men, waltzed quickly behind Lyn. They stood so close. One by her left, and the other, by her right. " Why are you standing so close to me, is anything the matter?" Lyn asked, filled with confusion.
Marcus didn't know when he let out a short hysteric laughter. His tight jaw interrupted the expression he needed to react to Lydia's shock.
His arrogance might have toned down a bit, but he still gets what he wants, when he wants—In NewYork then, and even here in Baltimore. If he said he was done with patronizing shallow women, he meant every word.
"Now, you'll have no job and no Marcus to prey on Lyn." Marcus' unblinking eyes stared at her, daring her to respond.
"You should have been sober after you kissed me Lyn. Your business here is done and there is no reason for you to linger around. You are fired!"
Lyn let out a cry that refused to smite Marcus' conscience. Marcus might be a patient, but he is a thousand times more powerful than her Boss.
His smile lacked heart.
When she saw the fireceness of his gaze. And the uncompromising set of his jaw, she cursed him.
The men were already set to bundle her out, but she yanked her arm firmly off their grip, assuring them calmly, she would leave on her own.
" This is so unfair!" Lyn blurted.
"What other women got tips for, l get to be punished. This is not the end Marcus Thompson. I'll make you pay for this." Lyn managed to say through tears.
She didn't just get it.
It was no fault of hers that she wanted a piece of him for herself. Why in the world where the things she so desired, seem short-lived. Marcus had ended her two months job with Dr Phyl, and just when she had begun to enjoy the taste of sensual control over Marcus, it ends almost immediately it starts.
"I am not done with you Marcus...not done." Her voice trailing loudly down the hallway.
