Chapter 64 - Chapter 63: Clash

Chapter 63: Clash

So fierce?!

Yao Yan was stunned by Cai Die's words. He hadn't expected her "negotiation tactic" to be this... gentle. A smile crept across his lips as he quietly took a few steps back—he could already sense the Amethyst Winged Lion King across from them was completely enraged.

This battle was now inevitable—whether Cai Die wanted to fight or not.

Roar! Human, you're courting death!

The Amethyst Winged Lion King never imagined such arrogant provocation. It wasn't even being treated with the slightest respect—as if it were nothing. Instantly, it let out a furious roar. The violet flames coiling around its body surged violently, dyeing the sky purple. Its beast eyes, glowing with a strange reddish-purple light, locked onto Cai Die with bloodthirsty rage.

It had ruled the Magic Beast Mountain Range for nearly a century, and this was the first time a human—no, a serpent-woman—dared act this insolently.

Sensing the deep hostility, Cai Die immediately released the power of a Seven-Star Dou Huang. A strange violet aura radiated from her, pushing her presence to its peak. Her once gentle peach blossom eyes turned icy and resolute—she now looked every bit the regal figure of Queen Medusa herself.

Because she knew she couldn't retreat. Yao Yan was only a Da Dou Shi—if she stepped back, he'd be the target.

In that moment, she understood her sister even more. When someone you care about is behind you—there's no more room for fear.

She took a deep breath, assumed a combat stance, and said coldly:

"Move, or die!"

As her voice fell, her companion soul awakened alongside her emotions. A more terrifying force surged within her as a massive, deep-blue serpent phantom formed behind her. Its cold eyes stared at the Amethyst Winged Lion King like it was prey.

Her aura soared to a terrifying level. The originally violet Dou Qi turned into violet-blue, pushing her strength to the peak of the Dou Huang realm.

Cai Die clearly didn't believe in "playing weak to catch the strong"—she went full force from the start!

Yao Yan gave a silent thumbs-up.

The Violet Nether Serpent?!

The Amethyst Winged Lion King's eyes narrowed in seriousness. It recognized the beast behind Cai Die—a king among serpent-type magical beasts. It was of the same rank as itself.

But instead of retreating, it was provoked.

No beast king would tolerate another stepping into its territory.

Even among magical beasts:

Two kings cannot share one mountain.

And with numerous Tier 4 and 5 magical beasts likely watching nearby, backing down now would destroy its authority as ruler of this region.

Even if negotiations were possible—it would have to be after a fight!

ROAR!

With a thunderous lion's roar, it was the first to attack. Its figure blurred into a violet streak as it pounced at Cai Die. Its claws, blazing with violet fire, stomped down with immense force, shaking the skies.

Cai Die twisted her slender waist and dodged nimbly. Her palm, wrapped in dense Dou Qi, slammed into the beast's abdomen.

BOOM!

With a thunderous impact, the Amethyst Winged Lion King was forced back, letting out a roar of pain. Cai Die's Dou Qi wasn't just powerful—it was laced with chilling venom. A stabbing pain spread from its belly, and the previously gleaming crystal armor in that spot dimmed, tainted by her violet-blue poison.

Fortunately, the beast's hide was thick. As a fire-type magical beast, it wasn't particularly afraid of poison. Roaring in fury, it lunged at her again.

The two quickly clashed.

At Dou Huang level, their battle shook the heavens. A stretch of sky turned violet-blue, and waves of elemental energy surged wildly. Explosions echoed endlessly. The aftershocks split mountains and sent boulders tumbling.

Brilliant Dou Qi clashed again and again in the air.

It looked like a blockbuster battle scene.

In terms of raw Dou Qi, Cai Die had the upper hand. But the lion relied on its hardened body and was unfazed by her venom—making the fight intense and evenly matched.

"Cai Die is too kind-hearted… even her attacks are gentle…"

Yao Yan watched the whole fight using his soul power and sighed. Some things were simply part of one's nature. If it had been her sister fighting, the lion would already be badly wounded. Cai Die didn't hold back her power, but she only struck non-lethal spots.

Put another way—she wasn't ruthless enough. Yao Yan, on the other hand, would've gone straight for its vital parts.

He didn't aim to kill—just to make the lion retreat.

He believed that without a real stake on the line, the Amethyst Winged Lion King would rather retreat than risk losing its legacy.

And as for honor? On the Dou Qi Continent, there's no such thing—only strength determines right or wrong.

Hmph!

The lion clearly realized this was a fruitless fight. With a thunderous snort, it flapped its wings and fired two giant violet flame pillars, which took the shape of fiery serpents rushing toward Cai Die.

She remained calm, raising her hand to conjure a massive deep-blue python, which charged at the flame pillars like a living creature.

BOOM!

A deafening explosion echoed across the clear sky.

Flames and serpent collided violently, releasing destructive energy. Even space itself rippled under the force.

Bang!

After a few minutes of stalemate, the energy of both attacks waned. With a final deep rumble, they vanished into nothingness.

Cai Die and the lion floated on opposite sides of the sky, eyeing each other. In the end, both chose to stop. The lion now had a new respect for Cai Die's power. It had cooled down and didn't want to fight to the death over a few angry words.

As for pride—after a battle like that, any nearby Tier 4 or 5 magical beast would be more than intimidated.

Being insulted?

Among equals, it was called "friendly exchange."

Only insults from the weak counted as humiliation.

And then—

The lion heard a voice in its ear:

"Go get him! Kill that stupid lion, and we'll have lion head soup tonight!"

"…?!"

The Amethyst Winged Lion King froze. Its gaze swept downward—and found a little "ant" watching the fight from below. From this "ant" came the intense fragrance of rare treasures, making it feel the urge to rush down and devour him.

Cretin!

It roared furiously and shifted its target—rushing straight at Yao Yan!

"You dare?!"

Cai Die shouted in fury. She darted after the lion. She hadn't expected it to suddenly attack Yao Yan after backing off. Her eyes filled with panic. She clasped her hands together, gathering a frightening amount of Dou Qi. A swirling halo of violet-blue light radiated danger.

She was trying to scare the lion off with a decisive strike.

The lion glanced at her and hesitated briefly, but then clenched its teeth and ignored her—choosing instead to dive at Yao Yan. It didn't care about offending her now. It had sensed that Yao Yan was hiding something valuable—eating him might accelerate its transformation into a human form!

Magical beasts couldn't cultivate like humans. They had to rely on time and consuming rare treasures to gather enough energy for breakthroughs.

Only after transformation could they truly escape this limitation!

Even if it meant offending that troublesome woman—it was worth it.

"…?!"

Yao Yan's acting was perfect—his face showed just the right amount of panic. Ling'er, who had been on his shoulder, instantly dove into his arms, leaving only her tail swaying outside… with her butt facing out.

Die, you damned ant!

The Amethyst Winged Lion King's eyes glinted cruelly as it opened its massive mouth, lunging at Yao Yan—intending to swallow him whole!

No matter what treasure he had—once it was eaten, it would be the lion's!

Cai Die turned pale. She didn't even have time to stop it. The terrifying Dou Technique she had charged was now a risk—if she fired it, she might hit Yao Yan by accident.

All she could do was watch in horror as the lion lunged toward the "helpless" Yao Yan.

Her heart nearly stopped.

And under her gaze—the lion opened its jaws and bit down—
