Chapter 6 - Uchiha Itachi

"Deputy Clan Head, we just found his suicide note at Shisui's house!"

"Uchiha Jicang and the others have already gone straight to the Clan Head's door to question Uchiha Itachi."

Mitsuki took the suicide note handed to him by Uchiha Inaho.

"I can no longer endure these long missions. If this continues, the Uchiha Clan will perish sooner or later. I cannot continue to betray the ninja way in my heart."

Looking at the last words Shisui left behind, Mitsuki felt a pang of regret. He had performed several missions with him before. Although their relationship wasn't particularly close, Shisui at least still cared about the Clan.

Unlike Itachi, who had already leaked the Clan's intelligence to the Konoha higher-ups for the sake of the Village.

He had to seize this period after Shisui's death to change the current situation. He hoped Fugaku hadn't forgotten his reminder from last night.

He put away Shisui's suicide note.

"Let's go, immediately head to Fugaku's house to find Itachi."

"Yes."

..."Shisui committed suicide at the Naka River last night. Where were you?"

"I told you, I was on an Anbu mission."

"I hope so, hmph!"

Uchiha Jicang and the other two turned and prepared to leave.

Uchiha Itachi looked up at the three people at the door:

"Just say what you mean. You suspect I'm the murderer, don't you?"

Jicang turned back, his Three-Tomoe Sharingan staring at Uchiha Itachi:

"That's right, you brat."

"Listen, if you dare to betray the Clan, we will never forgive you!"

Shisui's last words from last night suddenly flashed in his mind, and the words of Uchiha Jicang and the two others constantly stimulated his nerves.

Itachi quickly threw out his fists, knocking the three of them to the ground.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

He lowered his head, looking directly at the three people on the ground:

"Clan, Clan, that's all you ever say."

"You self-righteous fools."

"How could you possibly know the depth of my capacity?"

"That's why you were knocked down by me."

Just as Uchiha Itachi was about to make another move, Fugaku appeared from the street and rushed over.

"Stop! Itachi, what in the world is going on..."

"Whoosh—bang!"

He quickly threw a kunai with his right hand, embedding it in a mural on the wall beside him. Cracks appeared on the wall, and the uchiha war fan in the mural also shattered.

"My capacity has already despaired of this arrogant, boring Clan."

"Oh, Itachi, how can you, as the Clan Head's son, say such a thing?"

Mitsuki jumped down from the eaves and stood opposite Itachi. Inaho followed closely, quickly helping the three people on the ground to their feet.

Fugaku watched from the side.

He didn't know what Mitsuki was going to do next. Remembering the scene at the Clan meeting last night, Mitsuki's personality was truly awful. He didn't even tell him how to cooperate with his act. He hoped Itachi wouldn't suffer too much.

He silently prayed for Itachi... "Uchiha Mitsuki, this matter is none of your business."

Itachi knew Mitsuki, who was called a genius second only to Shisui and himself within the Clan, and who had also awakened his Three-Tomoe Sharingan at a young age.

But clearly, Itachi, who hadn't attended the Clan meeting last night, didn't know that Mitsuki had not only awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan but had also become the Deputy Clan Head.

Mitsuki smiled, shook his head, and looked at the rebellious traitor in front of him:

"Now, I am the Deputy Clan Head of the Clan. Do you think I have the right to intervene?"

Itachi frowned, turned to his father, wanting to confirm if Mitsuki's words were true.

Seeing Fugaku nod, Itachi didn't know how to refute Mitsuki, because Mitsuki was right, and he indeed had the right to intervene.

Mitsuki looked at the now silent Itachi, pretending to ponder for a moment:

"Itachi, come to the Naka River with Fugaku tonight."

Leaving these words, Mitsuki then departed with Inaho and Jicang.

Itachi watched Mitsuki and the others leave, then turned to face Fugaku:

"Father, why did Mitsuki suddenly become Deputy Clan Head?"

Fugaku recounted the entire Clan meeting process to Itachi. Looking at Itachi's shocked expression, he didn't know if he needed to say anything more.

But considering Mitsuki's plan, I'm sorry, son, some things Mitsuki will tell you tonight. Your dad isn't deliberately hiding things from you.

Whether influenced by Mitsuki or for some other reason, Fugaku had some different thoughts compared to before, but for now, it was only a little. As for the future, who can say?

As night fell, and the faint moonlight scattered, Mitsuki arrived early at the cliff edge of the Naka River, sitting there gazing at the waterfall in front of him, pondering his plan for the night.

After all, Itachi, in the original story, was a filial son.

In Mitsuki's view, Itachi's life was extremely tragic. Itachi, who loved sweets, had tasted bitterness his entire life.

He witnessed the cruelty of the battlefield at a young age and was forced to grow up.

The misunderstanding between father and son gradually deepened, causing Itachi to close off his heart.

It wasn't until later that he met Uchiha Shisui, who became like an older brother to him. Shisui's Hokage-style thinking made him determined to change the current situation of the Village and the Clan with Shisui.

But unfortunately, after Shisui committed suicide in front of Itachi, Itachi's inner pillar directly collapsed. The conflict with his father Fugaku, and his Hokage-style thinking, unconsciously made him lean more towards the Third Hokage and Danzo.

Coupled with awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan, Itachi became increasingly obsessive, which led to him being brainwashed by the Third Hokage and Danzo, deciding to exterminate the Uchiha Clan and leave his younger brother Sasuke alone.

However, now, although Itachi had activated his Mangekyo Sharingan, he hadn't yet had time to report this to the Third Hokage and Danzo. Now was a good time to intercept him.

As long as he could successfully break Itachi down at this moment, he could turn him into a sharp blade in his own hands, controlled by himself.

Two figures flashed quickly through the forest behind them, eventually standing behind Mitsuki.

"Sit down, both of you."

Itachi and Fugaku sat on either side of Mitsuki.

Looking at the waterfall in front of him, Itachi was reminded of Shisui's suicide.

Ever since he learned about Mitsuki's words at the Clan meeting from Fugaku, he had been thinking about it before coming here. According to Mitsuki's idea, the Clan had no way out, but it seemed Mitsuki already had a countermeasure.

If there was a way for the Village and the Clan to coexist peacefully, he naturally wouldn't want to draw his blade against his own people in the future.

"Mitsuki, what method are you going to use to free the Clan from its current predicament?"

Itachi spoke first, wanting to get to the bottom of it.

Mitsuki frowned upon hearing this, looking at Itachi on his right:

"Uchiha Itachi, you should first recognize your own problems before speaking."

"Me? Do I have any problems?"

Itachi was momentarily confused by Mitsuki's question and looked at Fugaku, who was sitting to Mitsuki's left.

Fugaku felt Itachi's gaze and kept his eyes on the waterfall in front of him, constantly reminding himself that he must cooperate well with Mitsuki and play his part. Now, Mitsuki was the Clan's only hope, and he had to cooperate well.

Mitsuki silently reached out his right hand and patted his forehead, his heart filled with complaints about Fugaku. Alas, he shouldn't have held too much hope. As expected, he had to take action himself. Relying on Fugaku? Forget it, it was too difficult for him.

"Answer a few questions for me, Itachi."

"Why did the Uchiha and Senju establish Konoha?"

"What is your surname?"

"Who raised you to adulthood?"

"What did Shisui say to you last?"

Mitsuki directly threw these questions at Itachi. Except for the first question, the others seemed like nonsense to Itachi, but Itachi still suppressed his confusion and answered.

"The Uchiha and Senju established Konoha, naturally, for peace."

"My surname is Uchiha, and my father and mother raised me."

"Shisui told me at the end to protect the Village and the name of the Uchiha Clan."

Mitsuki shook his head again and again upon hearing this. But thankfully, Itachi at least knew that his parents raised him. Coupled with his word-spirit ability, there should still be a high probability of rescuing Itachi from the brainwashing of Danzo and the Third Hokage.

Fugaku didn't believe Shisui had committed suicide until he heard Itachi's admission, only to ease the conflict between the Clan and the Village. But what he didn't expect was that the conflict not only didn't lessen but intensified.

"Itachi, you're wrong. The Uchiha and Senju joined forces to establish Konoha not for peace, but to protect their Clan members."

"Also, you misinterpreted Shisui's last words."

"Protect the Village and the name of the Uchiha Clan."

"That's the correct understanding."
