I stood on the soft, wet clay, beaten hard by the thunderous rainfall that poured heavily from the clouds. The thunder roared above my head as if angry about what had happened, yet I didn't feel any of it. My mind was fixed solely on the ground - not entirely through - but my heart wavered at the thought of losing my mom so soon. I was angry, irritated and tired. I couldn't cry anymore because there was no strength left in me.
"They shall pay! They shall pay for all their wrongs towards me and my mom! THEY SHALL ALL DIE!!!".
I fell heavily onto the mud, staining myself, but I didn't care. The pain in my chest was far sharper than anything the ground could inflict - a searing ache that cut through my heart like a knife. My breath caught as my eyes fixed into the gravestone before me.
Evelyn Mayer.
My mother.
The letters seemed to burn into my soul, mocking me with their cruel permanence. I traced them with trembling fingers, rain mingling with the tears streaming down my face.
"I love you Mum," I whispered, my voice cracking."And I promise...I promise to avenge those who did this to you."
A chilling breeze swept through the cemetery, biting into my soaked skin as thunder rolled in the distance. I shivered, my whole body trembling - not from the cold, but from the rage simmering inside me. My heart grew heavy, then number, until the world itself seemed to fade away. Darkness swallowed me whole.
