The moment we entered the kids' section, I went wild, snatching up outfit after outfit for Carry.
Patty shook her head. "You spoil that girl rotten. Honestly, you should focus some of that attention on yourself."
I managed a weak smile. "Just this once. God knows when I'll get another shot at shopping for her."
Patty knew better than to argue with me, so she stuck close and kept me company.
After I'd filled several massive bags with clothes, it was time to face the register.
The sales clerk tallied everything up. "That comes to thirty thousand dollars."
The number hit me like a slap, but I kept my mouth shut.
This was a luxury brand's kids' section. Beautiful stuff. Ridiculously expensive stuff.
During my years with Carry, I'd been a regular here. Sometimes I'd drop a few thousand, other times tens of thousands.
The price never bothered me.
Zain had given me a bank card and made sure to load it with money every month, all for Carry's care.
