Blanche's POV
After Zain settled the tab, he turned toward Joanna. "Joanna, let's go."
I caught Zain calling out to Joanna, but I kept my back turned. Instead, I lifted my water glass and took a slow sip.
Joanna stepped over and hooked her arm through Zain's. "Okay," she replied.
As Zain made his way toward the exit, his eyes landed on Demetrius and Aiden seated nearby. I felt his gaze linger on me, as if he recognized me even with my back turned.
He hesitated for a beat, and Joanna picked up on it immediately. "Zain, what's wrong?" she asked, tugging at his attention, as if she didn't want his thoughts to drift to other women.
Zain glanced down at Joanna. "Nothing. Let's go."
Joanna's grip on his arm tightened, pulling herself closer, as if claiming him completely.
Once they'd gone, I kept talking with Aiden and Demetrius about medical cases.
